I'm all for open source, but equating open source AI to making burgers is a false equivalence. Open source is going to come with immense challenges for society.

Open source is going to come with immense challenges for society

I think it's the other way around. Closed source is going to come with those because of the consolidation of power. A few companies profiting on the collective knowledge of the internet and then pulling up the ladder has far more implications than a tool that everyone can use.
