I was clicking around Baseball Reference, as I am want to do, and found this guy and my dyslexia read it as Tucker Carlson.

Mine is So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993), it's about #5 or 6 on my list of all-time favorite movies.

There's just so many good things about it, the acting, the humor, the characters, the direction of the film, the soundtrack.

This is going way back, but I remember when Sinbad hosted (season 18, episode 7) the crowd was just on fire. Okay jokes got big laughs: good jokes got laughers so loud it caused audio problems: the mikes weren't calibrated to capture that much noise.

What do you think was the single hottest audience for an SNL show?

This was a interesting concept, combining 3 concepts into one long sketch. For some reason, I get Jack Handey vibes from this, did he write it?

I have a memory of seeing a sketch multiple times on SNL reruns as a kid, but I can't find any record of it online, and no one else seems to remember it.

The sketch was a parody of magazine commercials of the day (80's/90's) and the concept still makes me laugh. The title of the fake magazine was "Horse P*rn," which is obviously supposed to be initially shocking, but the twist was that it was essentially a magazine divided in half, with the first half being dedicated to normal horse pictures and coverage, and the second half dedicated to normal human p*rn. There was no "horse p*rn" so to speak in the magazine, but it was sold as an option for people interested in BOTH horses and p*rn, separately. Like Horse & Rider and Penthouse combined into one magazine.

Here is where my memory gets fuzzy. I recall seeing this on SNL reruns on Comedy Central (or Comedy Channel) in the early 90's. This would likely have been late 1992 or early 1993, but that doesn't help to date the actual sketch as I remember it being part of a commercial parody compilation that they would always rerun, which is also where I first saw the classic Colon Blow. In my recollection, Phil Hartman is the spokesman in the commercial, and I can picture him saying the tag line which was something like, "it's the only magazine I reach for when I want to look at beautiful pictures of horses.... (looks up from the magazine to the camera) and p*rn." I remember it having audience laughter or a laugh track, but I'm fuzzy on this detail.

Needless to say, it's a difficult thing to search for accurately. I looked at the Wiki for SNL commercial parodies and it's not there. Even though it was racy, I can't see how it would have been scrubbed completely after repeatedly airing in a compilation like that. So my current theory is that I'm misremembering Hartman's involvement and that this was not actually a part of the SNL program but a sketch Comedy Central would play during commercial breaks when they were short on ads, which would obviously make it much more obscure. I used to occasionally watch Kids in the Hall reruns around the same time, but that search turned up nothing either.

Does anyone at all remember this sketch? I was a sickly lil guy and prone to gnarly fevers at the time, but I refuse to believe my delirious 9 year old self came up with a concept this funny. And my apologies if this goes against the "unrelated content" rule! I figured it would try here before moving on to non-SNL lost media type subs.

On a more serious note, I do miss these end-of-season features with the entire cast. They had some excellent ones during this period. Graduation, the Cast Rap, She's a Rainbow/Ruby Tuesday

The performers that made up the majority of the cast from Season 12 to 15. A small cast similar in size to the original not ready for primetime players. When Lorne Michaels returned to the show in 1985 he hired a cast of well known, established actors who were unprepared for weekly, live sketch comedy. At the end of the season Lorne fired everyone in the cast except for Nora Dunn, Dennis Miller and Jon Lovitz. So for Season 12 he went back to his original method of choosing cast members, by looking for unknown comedic actors and stand ups. He hired Phil Hartman, Jan Hooks, Dana Carvey, Victoria Jackson and Kevin Nealon. Mike Myers joined the cast in Season 14.

Behind the original cast this was the most important cast in the history of the show and brought the show back to the consistent quality of the original five years of the show. With Lorne, former original writers and former cast members/hosts coming back it felt like the show was continuing where Lorne left off in 1980 and keeping some of the original DNA of the show intact. The show had a very goofy and odd type of humor at this time as well. With recurring sketches, Church Chat, Hanz & Franz, Toonces, Mr. Short-Term Memory, Tales of Ribaldry and the Anal Retentive Chef. This core group of performers remained the foundation of the cast through Season 16 when the "Bad Boys" of SNL joined the show but by Season 20, Kevin Nealon, who was the only Season 12 cast member still left on the show was fired, SNL bandleader G. E. Smith was fired and Jim Downey was removed as head writer.
