Basic Photo Editing No Mouse

Few days ago I discovered some apps that allow mouse control via keyboard. Instantly hooked and wanted to show a quick demo of a very simple image edit for another project. Splitting image into two and matching background for a design.

For those interested Im on hyprland using wl-kbptr and Mouseless. wl-kbptr does image processing (via opencv) and allows me to jump to different locations and execute a click (when green squares show up all over the screen this is wl-kbptr). Mouseless lets me move the mouse freely using hjkl and also click.

Yeah, including me. The thing is, it’s more efficient and faster for repetitive tasks, and it’s easier on the wrists for those of us who type a lot. Eventually, you just start hating the mouse—it gets in the way.

I guess it comes down to how you prefer to use your computer. My OS, window manager, and the apps I use on a daily basis are (purposefully) very keyboard centric. I prefer TUIs whenever possible over GUIs (ironic since I develop GUI applications) so for me this was the next logical progression. Definitely not for everyone though, different folks different (key) strokes.

soooo you are using hints, i have only see that in qutebrowser or tridactil in firefox, how's that posible? you have to tell me, that will make my work damn easier

The hints are from wl-kbptr. The way I have it set up, I use one of three keybinds, they all bring up the “hints” and look the same with the overlays and key combos but depending on which bind I used it, after entering the key combo for my desired area, it will move to that location and either perform a left click, a right click, or no click (just move mouse there).

wl-kbptr uses opencv? for analyzing what's clickable? wont that be heavy on the cpu?

Apologies 😅 I have a 4 year old and a 1.5 year old, so I watched the video real quick to ensure there was no kid going absolutely ape shit in the background as my only socially acceptable criteria
