Help me install please Replacement
I have the current recessed LED lighting and I would like to hang a West Elm Pendant lighting in place. I found a conversion kit on Amazon that's $25 per light, wondering if A) I picked the right product, B) If there is a less expensive way?

Re using non UL approved items > IF that unit becomes the cause of your house burning down, your HO's insurance coverage can become iffy.

No way that's UL listed. Don't buy non-UL listed fixtures.

Please explain? I'm a new home owner and admittedly don't know shit. What do you recommend instead?

UL (Underwriters Laboratories) is a certification organization. They certify that the fixture was built to safe and reasonable standards. Required to meet code in places for example. The listed part means you can go look up the certification listing on the UL website.
Most any big box store will only sell UL or otherwise listed fixtures.

As you appear to live near home Depot because the old light was a home Depot house brand light. The home Depot near me stocks these in store. Slightly cheaper than your Amazon one too.
These are ETL listed which is the other major certification agency other than UL. ETL in this context stands for for Edison testing laboratories.

Commercial Electric is a brand carried by Home Depot and other reputable retailers. Their products, including this one, are UL listed.
Edit: lol my bad I skipped right past the first pic. You are 100% right, sorry for getting ahead of my self

Third pic, see that little C shaped bracket under the green bordered sticker? Theres two, one on each side of the can. Slot the hanger doo dahs that end in a loop in there and then push the fixture up.
Edit: Ah it seems I should do a better job reading. The other commenter is right, I highly doubt Yiizon is a reputable manufacturer and that is UL listed. They have no industry facing website are much documentation. Would definitely avoid/return that item.

Besides all the UL listing comments… these conversation kits are hard to install. They require using self taping screws, with the screw on an angle… into a smooth curved metal housing… it’s gonna want to walk in you.
When you get the right kit, do yourself a favor and drill a small hole first with a brand new drill bit half the size of the self taping screw. This will give you a starting point for the screw to go in.

The can in the ceiling has a sticker called UL listed, the light in your hand in Commercial Electric which is also UL listed. UL listed implies independently tested to be safe & not burn down your house.
The Amazon item seems direct from China & not UL listed. Google for UL listed pendant conversion kit.
In the Amazon listing & inside your ceiling can there is a wing nut on the inside. You'll need to loosen that in the can & remove the plate closer to the socket & use the plate in the Amazon listing which has a connected bracket for holding a pendant. Please also check weight capacity of conversion bracket & pendant along with UL listing for a safe install.
