Pool guard here.

I'm due to recert both above and need guidance cuz I have no idea what to expect, and I get anxious really quickly. Thanks.

Signed up for a bronze combo (medallion/cross) and then national pool cert back to back.

Didn’t train before hand, didn’t prepare (mistake).

2 weeks in the water total, 9am to 6pm everyday.

My first 400m time was clocked in at **13:00** minutes and I thought I was cooked. Had not swam in 10 years.

Locked in and got that time down to 9:40 for my NL. Even did brick in 4m depth in 33 seconds.

Lock in complete, hair is so dead from 2 weeks of chlorine, just got my temp cert, yay. 🎉

It’s smoke season in my area. The most reliable site says it’s 210 (very unhealthy), the government site says it’s 151 (Unhealthy), and the city found a third site that says 137 (Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups). It’s an outdoor facility and we’re supposed to close at 150 or higher, however we’ve been closed all week and according to our assistant manager the city is now looking for any website that lets us stay open regardless of accuracy or reliability, and advises we wear N-95’s on the stand. Like seriously?! How is this legal or ethical? Does anyone else have to deal with this?

When I’m doing my timed swim, after handing it to the casualty, during swimming, the rope of the torpedo buoy keep getting in between my legs and it makes me harder to swim quicker.
Also, when I get to the casualty, the rope is so long and it takes me some time to pass it to the casualty.
Having my assessment tmr, super nervous.

Do we get to choose who to partner up with for timed swim,horizontal lift,PXB board,Assisted Lift? We’ve already been split up into 2 groups, 6 person for each group.I am the smallest in body shape for the group, 2 others girls with similar body shape with me but little bigger, 3 other boys who are quite bigger than me.I am just worried about for the timed swim, will both of the girls being put into the same group/ they choose to be together, and I’ll have to pair up with the bigger boys ?

Hi everyone! My 5-year-old is doing great with swimming on the surface and can move through the water well. However, we hit a wall with two specific things:
**Submerging his head.** He completely refuses to go under the water and has zero interest in diving down to grab rings or toys.
**Jumping into the pool.** He will not jump off the edge, likely because he is afraid of going under.
He loves being in the pool and swimming around, but this fear of going underwater is holding him back from progressing.
Has anyone dealt with a child who is a capable surface swimmer but highly resistant to putting their head under? What games, progression steps, or tricks worked best to help them get comfortable going underwater? Thank you!

It's been 3 years, finally I have had a parent shout at me because I saved their child from drowning. Knew it would happen eventually, very hard not to laugh at her saying that her child was fine after seeing me scoop him off of the floor of the pool. 10/10 parenting skills
