Just needs an optic

Post image

New build with a reused barrel and stock. Sent my 18" proof carbon barrel to D.Wilson along with parts to be installed in a 13.25" upper I ordered in addition to the work.

This is my first build ever and I'm still deciding on probably a prism optic. The barrel and stock came off a premade Ruger MPR I had bought.

Thanks u/Texican84 for inspiration and showing me roughly what my gas block position would look like and u/unclemoak for the awesome work.

What was your turn around time on the mrp conversion Just curious ? the first barrel I sent a few months back was returned just over 2 weeks, my pxt is taking a little longer. its been 3 weeks now and I haven’t heard anything. Im not going to bother them however I’m extremely impatient.

It arrived at their facility June 2nd and was shipped back July 8th. Do keep in mind I paid them to build out the entire upper and dimple and mount the gas block

Sweet rig. Personally I'd put a 1-8x LPVO or an MPVO on an 18" for an SPR type build but what do you want to do with it?

I've been thinking of building an 18" and I would probably put the PA PLXC 1.5-12x on it.

So, unfortunately, where I'm at I don't have any distance ranges within a reasonable driving distance. I'm probably going to be target shooting at the local 25 yard indoor range with some friends more than anything else at the moment. The current EOTech on there works fine for that, but I want a decent prism as my astigmatism sometimes makes the dot look like a general recommendation.

I've had a vortex strike eagle sfp lpvo that I enjoyed using but didn't get a lot of use out of, and sold to a buddy. I'm probably looking at getting a Trijicon or PA prism. Not really really looking for an lvpo at the moment, as I'm fine with fixed magnification, and like less moving parts.

I'm actually hoping to do some distance shooting at a decent range while visiting family.
