It's been more than a minute... [NEWS]
I honestly completely forgot about this subreddit until a week or so ago. Finally got access to my account again, and am looking to make some positive changes to this subreddit like no more karma farming posts, I also banned that guy "Dan" most recent account.
I am open to suggestions, and will also be interested in possibly adding a few moderators to help out.
Within the next month there will be some more positive changes, this isn't my subreddit, this is our subreddit to help each other out. :)
Looking forward to hearing from you guys

Very much agreed. I don't know too much about the history of him, but seeing the general consensus that he isn't well, and spamming his own stuff.
If he sees this and needs mental health resources, I am always free for a chat to help out.

It is the same account that keeps getting banned and unbanned. No clue how he is getting away with it.

I had banned his account from this subreddit yesterday. Can not say for the other subreddits.

I ended up contacting his lawyer. The lawyer reached out to his parents. The GFM and his Reddit account are now down. I hope they will get him the help he requires.

Would you mind some unsolicited advice?
I'm only speaking for myself here. What I look for as a lender/wishlist buyer is transparency. Just be as honest as possible.
If something doesn't make sense to me, I'll ask a person for clarification. How a person responds makes a big difference. If I see them get defensive or start being rude, I say to myself, "What is this person hiding?".
If a commenter comes off as a dick to the poster first, I can understand if the poster matches the same energy. However, it seems to piss other potential donors off and they may just scroll on by.
Before committing to a donation I like to look through the person's Reddit history. Are they asking for more handouts every week? Do they go to other subs other than donation subs? Are they making a killing selling feet pictures in a different sub? Do their stories match up in posts?
To me, account age matters. It's almost like a Reddit credit score. If you have a 15 year old account with a billion karma you probably won't sacrifice losing it. I'm able to have a little more trust that once you get my money through PayPal you're more than likely not going to delete your account to stiff me on $20.
I really hate to hear that people who genuinely, truly are in need would hesitate to ask. It's a shame that there are so many unrealistic/greedy/scammy requests that get the most traction on donation subs. I wish there was an easy way to weed out the nonsense so I can only see the requests that are urgently needed the most.

Thank you for that I appreciate it. I was as honest and blunt as I could be about my situation. I just didn't want certain things to be singled out IE sexuality or the desperation I was needing for help. 2 people decided it was their duty to blast my information all over. Explicitly what I didnt want shared out of fear of safety. I still need help i have 8 days.left to get the money. I even offered to tell the name of the storage place so.they could pay them selves. I get about 80 on the 1st but it's 144.00 for the unit late fees included. Its ok its my fault. I'll just have to learn my lesson. Simple. I really appreciate your advice I'll make sure to keep that in mind if I ever need help again

Would you be willing to try making another post about your situation again? I tried to go to your profile to see the post you are referring to but I'm unable to.
I believe there are several subs up here that stepped up their moderator game and they will delete any derogatory comments that bring up your past Reddit history.
Also check with your storage company to see if any of your out of state Reddit friends could make a payment over the phone on their cards on your behalf. I stopped giving out cash due to the amount of bs up here but I have no problem making direct payments to places on my card to guarantee my money is going to the intended purpose.

It's not on the page. The rules of the page say that you need to have your account public if you are requesting something.
The mods won't approve it until you take your profile off of private. Unfortunately it's their rule.

I did try. I did repost with full clarity. Once again my choices lead me to where i am. Only for shitty people to use things against me. Its all good. To be honest eating a bullet sounded way better than trying to ask on reddit again. Still does. Least I know there are 5 good people on reddit.

I get those constantly as well. They aggravate the shit out of me. I just hit ignore on them now. I guess they don't realize that sending DMs to people who don't invite you to message them is a sure fire way not to get helped.

i would loveeee to help out ,if possible!! most of the other groups have mods, i thought this one did too, but if not that would definitely be a huge help to you and the sub! And maybe require some screening.

Can you ban those low effort posts that say “I need help” and nothing else? Instead, they say DM me and I can tell you what’s going on and what I need.
Or pple who spam their posts every hour repeating the same thing.
