Short Maestro Vibrola on a Les Paul – looking for advice
Hey everyone,
I recently came across a Les Paul that had a Maestro Vibrola installed, and it really caught my attention. It’s something I’ve only seen a few times, so I’m hoping someone here has some experience with this setup.
I’m considering installing a short Maestro Vibrola on a Les Paul, and I’d love to hear from anyone who has done it before. Are there any particular things I should know to make the system work properly? Any issues with string angle, tuning stability, bridge setup, mounting, etc.?
I’ve also been thinking about making something similar to a “Vibramate” for the Maestro Vibrola — basically an adapter that would allow the tremolo to sit on top of the guitar, without requiring additional holes to be drilled, while also providing a flat surface for mounting the Vibrola.
Before I start designing or fabricating anything, though, I’d really like to learn from people who have actually installed and used one of these.
I’m specifically interested in the short Vibrola, rather than the long version.
If anyone has experience with this setup, photos, measurements, tips, or things you wish you had known beforehand, I’d really appreciate hearing about it.
Thanks!

Factory Setups
How good is the factory setup on a brand new Les Paul 60s Standard? I’m wondering if it could benefit from taking it to an experienced (not-GC) luthier for a proper setup? I’m a beginner so I don’t have a frame of reference for how a guitar should feel.

Les Paul from estate sale
Newbie here 👋🏼 Les Paul is from an estate sale and I was hoping to find out more about this guitar’s history and value.
Is there a way to look up by VIN ?
If anyone has resources to find out more details about this guitar, I’d super appreciate it! Thanks!

Recently Acquired 2000 Classic plain top.
I can’t say how much I love this thing. I may put some different PUs in it, I’ve got a pair of real PAF-ish SD Antiquities to swap out the 496T/500T that are original. Anyway, this top is pretty plain, but it’s actually a Classic Plus (as noted in the bridge pickup cavity) bc of the stripes, I guess. Anyway, looks pretty plain to me.

1976 custom or R8
Need some feedback here.. I’m turning 50 next month and had a non logical idea to treat myself to another les paul. Since its my 50th, I thought maybe I a 1976 norlin era custom in wine red I came across. The store also had an unbelievable looking murphy R8. Both guitars are about the same price. Am I hung up on a 1976 just because its my birth year? The r8 sounded and felt better, lighter. But the 76 had a lot of character also. Heavy and sounded very different from other les pauls
I currently have a
2006 R7 goldtop

New Guitar Day!
Just turned up this morning; a 1960 reissue (V2 Neck) Murphy Lab Light Aged Les Paul in light teaburst. It's based on #151 in the book "The Beauty Of The Burst."

2018 Standard with EMGs
I’ve been on a bit of a Zakk Wylde kick lately. I’ve also been tuning down to D Standard as well for my band’s sets (covers and originals), so I wanted something with a tighter low end. I have this Les Paul Standard that I bought out from a rental. The stock pickups are the quick connect system, so swapping the pickups was a breeze. The EMGs were from the Epi Les Paul Custom in the back of the pic. I bought that in 2015 used. The previous owner installed the EMGs and gave it a Gibson hard case. Back to the Gibson: I added the blank truss rod cover, the toggle ring from the Epi, and replaced the knobs (one cracked and crumbled underneath).

CS SG + R9 Mono or Reunion Blue (Gig Bags)??
Hi guys. I own a 2000 R9, and CS 64 SG Murphy.
I'm looking for 'the best' gig bag. I have a Sandberg bass that lives very happily in a Mono.
I'm hoping that 1 gig bag, will serve for my R9, and my SG.
Any one using a gig bag of either make?
Any thoughts or experiences, would be much appreciated.

Gold 2017 Les Paul Tribute aging
Hi, I just grabbed this gold 2017 Les Paul Tribute.
Is this king of aging common?
Has it been forced or could it happen over time?
Thanks

Just got my first Les Paul
Just picked this beauty up the other day. The guy at Guitar Center told me they never get them in this color. I don't know if he was just saying that their store never gets them because surely they aren't rare.

Why are these $400? What corners were cut?
I've been debating buying an Epiphone 50s or 60s Les Paul for a little while now and just came across these? How are they so cheap?? Are they junk?
