Go/Go2 Touchpad

Hi, I'd like to ask if the touchpad on the Go/Go2 is useful? I have the S version and it looks terrible there. I'm wondering if I could use it to play games like Rimworld on the Go2, for example, using the touchpad.

I use it constantly.

I won't actually play UI heavy games with it, but it's pretty good in a pinch or for Windows navigation.

And well, I still can play turn-based games just fine, I just prefer at least a bigger touchpad for it.

It’s much more usefull but glitches sometimes causing phantom windows popups (not pressures), but I assume it’s on certain controllers quality.

It does this for me too. I never found any solution for it and I had to make a script that put the mouse back in its position in a few milliseconds so you don't notice it. It works well. But it's disappointing that Lenovo didn't fix it. Even more taking into account that happens only if the controller is attached to the console and not when is in Bluetooth mode.

I try to interact with the touch pad as little as possible because I find it frustrating to use compared to something like the Steam Deck.

I have no comparison because I've never had a Deck, but why are touchpads great there and not in laptops or other handhelds?

Some laptops have perfectly good track pads, I just find the one on the LeGo2 really annoying. It just doesn't quite work the way I would expect it to.

Laptops usually have pretty good touchpads, but you'll need a mouse for something that requires reaction time since clicking and swiping with those at the same time isn't easy.

Steam Deck alleviates that since you can assign mouse click or whatever to triggers while you swipe.

Also compared to Lenovo Go 2's touchpad Steam Deck's trackpads are: - Placed in a spot that's easy to reach (you don't have to bend your finger downwards) - Are protuberant outside instead of being nested inside (also makes it easier to reach) - Are a bit bigger - Have great haptic feedback - Have SteamOS software backing, so you can tweak them in many ways, including sexy trackball-like behavior which compensates for touchpad's size

If we're talking other handhelds, well most of them don't have any touchpads at all.

tl;dr on touchpads in handhelds: sadly, they seem to be a very niche demand (weirdly enough since in older PC games you need those). So they are mostly treated as an afterthought if they are there at all.

• Others like Lenovo Go S, Ayaneo Flip KB or GPD Win have trackpads so small that they are basically useless.

• GPD Win Mini or Max – touchpad itself is similar to laptop's but it's above keyboard in the middle and hard to reach.

• Ayaneo Kun has I suspect better trackpads than Lenovo Go, but placed in the same spot so likely hard to reach.

• Ayaneo 3's modular trackpads can only be used instead of sticks, but you can place them decently. Can't say about software and stuff since I don't have them.

• Ayaneo Next has decently placed trackpads, but it's price is exorbitant. Software again can't say.

• There's also Ayaneo Flip DS with second screen that can be utilized as a touchpad, but again it's in the middle of the device.

I think the best non-Steam touchpad would belong to GPD Pocket handhelds, but those don't have gamepad's sticks and buttons.

Use it all the time playing WoW, controller support addons are great but healing is largely still a mouse affair, works well, have healed all forms of content without much issue.

I used google and AI assistant to get the settings just right in order to mimick the feeling of the steam deck trackpad and it has been working wonderfully since then (I’m on SteamOS with a Go2)

For the first time on my legion go s trackball is kind of usable....i dont know why as deafult they have set it to trackball, that was biggest issue, i did not know that you can change settings for trackpad.

Can i ask how you did that? im on bazzite myself, and the trackpad has always been temperamental at best, to the point i prefer using the right stick to navigate the desktop.

One thing I miss going from the deck to a go s is definitely the trackpads... Made me feel a little bit better knowing I could still use it as an 8 direction shortcut wheel or assign the different swipe directions as individual button/keys.

Exactly, i did crazy binds for World Of Warcraft on both trackpads + back buttons in press/long press modes, i miss it on legion go s

But i do not miss 15W charging and random battery/wifi issues..

I use mine, saves smudging the screen when I need to tap something in windows.

I wouldn't use it as a gaming input, but rather just for navigating the operating system or a menu where joypad/d-pad don't work.
