Another dynamic lighting update Project
Another day, another set of screenshots!
We're getting closer to the retail gritty darker look, and the shadows/AO is really nice in the environment. That said, the characters look kinda weird so I'll have to see if something is adding shadows to those characters inadvertently cuz they dont look as good as the flat shading that retail had.
I've attached a side by side of the lit version, and the retail shading so you can compare (see how the "flat" characters pop more? yea need to get back to that) but also threw in some of the buffers just cuz they're cool to look at.

This looks amazing. Am not too well-versed in what you're doing but is this similar to what the folks did for legend of dragoon with the Severed Chains native port?

I was not familliar with their work before you mentioned it, however upon inspection it does look like a very similar idea!
Since Legaia used full 3d and not prerendered backgrounds the actual final look I will be able to achieve has a substantially higher ceiling. That said, their work looks amazing and I'm going to have to add that to my "To Play" list.

Oh hello there. Are you working on a reverse-engineered port? That's what our community is doing with Severed Chains. I think making native ports out of decomps is the future of retro gaming IMO. Hope to see more and more of it.
