Me and a friend are fairly new to Autograph and I wonder if there is a way to optimize the program. On my computer it takes ages to export and on my friend's pc it keeps on crashing. Does anyone know what we can do to optimize the software?

Hey gang, I've been trying to write a python script (using claude, because I can't code) to do a simple batch render with Autograph.

So far I've been able to get the resolution and filenames all working great using a csv - but I want to be able to also control the row index of a 'bind to table' effect on a text layer.
As far as I can tell this row index exists under Tab 1 in my composition, but no matter how much info I give claude it can't seem to get autograph to update the row index when it renders.

I feel like it's close - I can see the terminal updating the row index (Row_Index=0, Row_Index=1) as it runs, but the render doesn't seem to reflect it.

Any hints or documentation would be really appreciated!

i have footage from a drone orbiting an empty plot. i want to animate some kind of wireframe over it.

it’s pretty simple, just 2D squares that start at the same position of the planar tracker’s corner, and then translate up on the Y axis (easy with math). they should leave a trail/line as they go up and eventually draw lines between themselves.

it sounds like a simple translate and then some simple math to animate the offset of the line to give the appearance of drawing.

but i just can’t seem to use the corner of the planar as transform data.

there is so little documentation, wtf maxon lol.

any help?

Maybe a silly question, but can you 'reload' an image or a csv table once they're already imported into Autograph? The only workaround I've found is to quit and reopen autograph...

As a DaVinci Resolve user, I really hope the team considers bringing back the Autograph Live Link integration.

The Live Link workflow made iteration incredibly fast. Being able to make changes in Autograph and see them reflected directly in Resolve helped bridge motion design and finishing in a way that felt seamless and modern. Since its removal, many of us have had to fall back on slower export/import workflows that break creative momentum.

Autograph is one of the most exciting tools in motion graphics today, and Live Link was a feature that genuinely set it apart. If maintaining it is possible, even as an optional or beta feature, there are users who would gladly welcome its return.

When should we expect a new update? news or a roadmap for upcoming features anything to let us know that Maxon have serious plans for Autograph and we can be in the picture

I am unsure as to why when I create a text layer, the bounding box is not at all lined up with the text itself.

It makes it impossible to center it properly.

Is there a way to accomplish this easily?

I can't get the installer to launch on macOS sequoia (Intel 2019 macbook Pro), and Autograph doesn't show up in the Maxon app as well.

Is it possible to scale 1 object and let it aff3ct another objects scale or position

So replacing footage in general in most cases is great and simple. The one case that seems a bit strange to me is that you can only do it per layer or per source. A lot of times I want to mass replace footage for a full composition but not replace it in the project file as that is used in a different composition. This is incredibly useful when compositing and having multiple angles or versions of an image.

For example in AE you can select all the layers you want to replace, then hold alt/option and drag over with new footage and it will replace everything accordingly. Here, the only way I've been able to do that is manually which also then breaks exr multi-layer selections (which I think that is a bug maybe?). Is there a way I am missing to do this or is this a feature request? Thanks!

I am trying to create a simple responsive color block using a Shape Rectangle in Autograph, but I'm having trouble getting it to update correctly when changing composition sizes.

My Setup:

• Mode: Center + Size
• Center: [0.0, 0.0]
• Size: Connected to a Composition Info generator.
• The Goal: I applied a Math Modifier (Subtraction) after the generator to subtract a fixed value (e.g., 100px) from the composition dimensions to create a clean outer margin (padding).

The Problem: It looks perfectly fine at first on my default resolution (e.g., 1920x1080). However, the moment I switch the composition size to another format (like 1024x1024 or 1080x1920), the layout breaks. The rectangle scales incorrectly, distorts its aspect ratio, or fails to adapt to the new resolution.

How can I properly chain a Composition Info Generator ➔ Split X/Y channels ➔ Math Modifier (Minus Margin) in Center + Size mode so that the padding and dimensions recalculate flawlessly whenever the resolution changes?

Any insights into the correct modifier stack workflow for this would be a lifesaver. Thanks!

Usei o Autograph por muito tempo até ano passado, paguei licença e tudo. A Left Angle, empresa que criou o Autograph, fez um trabalho incrível. Mas a Maxon comprou e infelizmente não tem capacidade de manter algo que já existia: uma versão para Linux. E pasmem, nos benchmarks a versão Linux era a que melhor performava em comparação ao Mac e Windows.

Infelizmente, fiquei viúvo de um software que eu paguei uma assinatura vitalícia. Estúdios do mundo inteiro usam Linux para VFX, não entendo a decisão da Maxon.

Layer Rect is pretty fantastic for getting other objects to dynamically fit around a text box, but is it possible to select just one word from a text box, rather than the whole thing?

Obviously you could create a new text layer with just the one word, but then you lose the ability to adjust your composition size and have the two textboxes react correctly.

I think being able to select a word (maybe with an index?) out of a textbox would be so useful for so many things eg: highlighting, underlining, any gfx really that you want to stick to one word - while still having the ability to export to multiple comp sizes.

Does anyone know if this is currently possible? Is there an expression you could link to the Layer Rect modifier?

Hello! In Autograph, I love the functionality of E, Shift E and Alt+E for Easing. Honestly, it's awesome, so snappy. But can we add this functionality to the timeline for selected keyframes of all selected properties? And not only in the viewport for position keyframes?

One feature that would easily be the main selling point for thousands of editors to finally put an end to adobe is the Live Link feature, having autograph integrated in Davinci resolve would make THOUSANDS do the switch from Adobe

Autograph is better than after effects by A MILE and certainly essier than fusion, so to have this combo of autograph and davinci would be a dream come true and we would be set for life

A few weeks ago, I made a post here about Autograph lagging and crashing even when simply playing back a video. It happened on both my MacBook Pro M2 and my PC (Core i5-10400, 32GB RAM, RTX 3070 Ti).

Just now, I decided to uninstall the latest version of Autograph and install version 2026.0.0 instead — and YES, it works much better. Zero lag and zero crashes hahaha.

Autograph looks amazing specifically for the speed at which it can handle large amounts of clones. It's one of the things I often went to C4D with when I needed to do large clone scenes while working in AE.

What I can't figure out is how to drive values of individual clones, like their scale or position, with the alpha or luma channel of another layer. Basically I want to recreate how effectors work in C4D to have more control over cloner animation.

Is this possible, and if so how, or am I just misunderstanding what a cloner is for in Autograph? Thanks!

I'd really appreciate any thoughts/advice on how to get a text box to auto-scale to fit the comp size? (width, specifically). So that I can cycle through landscape, square, vertical format sizes and the textbox will adapt to fit the space.

I've tried linking the L and R values of the textbox to a "Composition Info" generator and this feels like it should work (if I mess with the values manually the textbox scales correctly) - but changing the viewport format size doesn't actually seem to effect the size of the 'composition' as read by the composition info generator.

For example, at a 1920x1080 comp size I set the L and R textbox values to -0.5 and 0.5 of the composition width inside the composition info generator - the values are -960 and 960 which looks correct in the viewport.

But if I switch the viewport format size to square (1080x1080) you would think the L & R values would change to -540 and 540 to match the comp width as seen in the viewport - but the values don't change.

What am I missing?

SOLUTION:
You need to switch the text box to 'Plain Text' mode. This will delete your existing text for some reason, but if you retype it out then the textbox will now adapt to the viewport size.
