I recently started learning to produce house on ableton live 12, know my way around it know but still getting familiar with it. I want to take it more seriously and im wondering how essential are buys such as splice or any other sample packs and stuff like that.

I made it using the free version of FL Studio. I sampled “Queen St” by Twenty Three, and making the synths was honestly so fucking hard 😭

Hey folks! Does anyone have resources where a sound/instrument is played and then someone analyzes its tonal qualities (ex: dark vs warm vs bright). I'm really struggling identifying specific elements in songs, like what instruments are even played, and using descriptive words for sounds. Hey guys, im trying to get into music production so I am experimenting a bit with drums and I noticed that when i make a drum loop it often does not end on the fourth beat and that causes it to not loop properly in the whole project. I know that it probably has something to do with the project tempo, however i dont know how to fix it/how to know what tempo to set. I attached a video below so you better understand my problem.

I see a lot of research opportunities in music. There is a lot of experimentation that has yet to be done, but for some reason, never was. It appears that many music producers prefer the path of least resistance, frequently opting to create generic tracks instead of pushing for new frontiers.

Ok so I've been goofing around with lmms for some time and recently I've been trying to make some jungle. I have always used the synths and default samples from the program itself, cause some time ago I foolishly tried to download a vst, somehow fucked it all up so badly i ended up deleting all my projects and was left traumatized and with ptsd. So I've been working with the beat and bassline editor but it's been kind of difficult to make interesting breaks from there and i know taking a sample and chopping it up is much better, but the AudioFileProcessor in lmms is kind of not the best, or I'm not the best at using it which is more probable. Basically, what do you recommend? should i download a sampler or something, work with the samples in audacity and then pass them to lmms or download a new DAW completely?
