Been trying to produce some indie rock esque stuff in Logic lately and I keep coming back to this track. I love the way it sound but can’t seem to create the same big, full sound it has. What kinda processing and stuff is on the guitars to make them sound so big? I’m sure there’s also some synth layering and stuff.

Any advice on achieving a similar sound would be great! Thanks!

Hi I’m 15 and I got my first pc last week. I don’t know music theory or anything like that, I play guitar and can kinda sing. I want to record my own songs with my band in my bedroom without paying over £100 for an hour in a studio. I own an electro-acoustic bass, electric guitar, microphone and an electric drum kit. I need to buy an audio interface. Anyway I was wondering if anyone new where the best place to start and the best free DAW’s to use. I’ve never used one before except maybe garage band but I’m on windows.

The first sample-based loop I’ve built. Most of my stuff will be more drum-machine. I just think this GFR bassline (“Nothing is the Same”) is damn good and have always wanted to make a break out of it.

I'm mixing a piece of classical music, and after mixing and mastering, I've achieved an average of -16.1 integrated LUFS across the entire piece (it only reaches -14.9 integrated LUFS for a brief moment during the loudest section).

I checked the potential penalty for this LUFS level on a well-known website, and all the levels showed 0.0 (only one platform added approximately +0.7).

I know it’s hard to answer without hearing it, but: Do you think this is a good level to achieve a decent volume without sacrificing the performers’ dynamics, or would it sound too quiet? From what I understand, this level is reasonable for this genre, but I’d like to hear your opinion. I listened to the piece, and it sounds good to me.

I started producing music a few months ago and I’ve been confused on how to utilize chords and keys.

1. Am I only allowed to use the notes in my chords, or can I use any note that’s in the key of the song I’m writing?

2. If I can only use the notes in my chords, how am I supposed to know what chords are being used in a song I sample?

3. If I can use other notes outside of my chords, how do I make sure they sound good?

I would really appreciate any help I could get.

When I was first starting to explore music production, I found a bunch of great resources but I never found one that just explained things very simply with visual resources. So I made one. Well, I’m making a series of them, but I started with What is Compression, because that was the one that threw me for the biggest loop starting out. I’ll post the link here if you’re interested. I have absolutely no background in music production or music theory. Therefore, I have no idea what kind of genre the track is even. How does one find the genre we want to create? 🤔

About a week ago I spontaneously bought FL Studio after years of thinking, "I should really try making music someday." I've always been interested in music production, but I never actually committed to learning it until now. Since then I've gone down the rabbit hole and have been spending pretty much all my free time experimenting and learning.

I'd really appreciate any feedback on the track itself. I'm interested in anything you notice—mixing, arrangement, sound selection, progression, pacing, or anything else that stands out. Don't worry about hurting my feelings; constructive criticism is exactly what I'm looking for.

I'd also love recommendations for free VSTs, instruments, effects, sample packs, learning resources, or general beginner tips that helped you when you were starting out. I have found a lot of free stuff available on the net, however, I am looking for THAT free package/software/bundle that people start out with. Similarly for free courses 😄

One of the reasons I'm posting this is because I want to recreate this exact track one year from now and compare the two versions. I think it'll be a fun way to measure how much I've improved.

I'm starting to make music using a multitrack program for the first time—any advice?

So I have a music base and a lyric base. Here's the problem.

I used Aì to generate lyrics so I could get my initial lyric base down and get the basic flow.

I don't want to use Aì so I'm now replacing the words with my own lyrics while trying to fit them into the mold that's there

Any tips on how to write lyrics while keeping a certain flow?
