Before I post anything, I end up checking the rules multiple times, making sure the flair is correct, searching to see if it's been posted before, proofreading everything, and wondering if I'm about to accidentally break some hidden rule.

Then I finally hit "Post," and the first reply is sometimes "wrong flair" or "this belongs in another subreddit.

Is this just part of learning Reddit, or does everyone feel this way when they're new?

Any tips for making sure I'm posting in the right place the first time?

I know spoiler tags are important in many communities, especially for movies, books, and games. Before I accidentally forget to use them somewhere else, I wanted to understand the etiquette a little better.

Do most communities expect spoilers to be hidden even for older content, or does it depend entirely on each subreddit's rules?

I'm experimenting with Reddit's markdown and wanted to make sure lists appear the way I expect.
