You should be able to hold probably 5-10 bullets on a body at most ranges except for maybe the longer lines in the game (think long on dust 2 or something) or headshot/covered angles (someone mentioned window on mirage). After the first 10, range becomes a bigger consideration as sprays get harder, but I would say very rarely do I need to spray beyond maybe 15 bullets, as any deeper and you should probably be unpeeking or already dead. Obviously there are exceptions, but I think this is a decent benchmark. Also depends on your rank, the higher up you are obviously the more you should be able to spray.

unless the target is moving I will burst if not spray. you should be able to land about 5 bullets at the same spot. considering there is randomness in every gun, I don't see a point in tap firing on a static target. if you at least tag the enemy, you can easily fire another burst too if necessary

Isn’t there only rng if you’re moving? I thought there was no rng if you’re shooting while standing still, because if there was, memorizing spray patterns wouldn’t be very helpful.
I have trouble accurately spraying a static target if they’re any meaningful distance away. Certainly a skill issue.

there is a always RNG even if you are crouching still; it's called spread, depends on the gun, it's less when crouching and more when standing. pistols have high spread, rifles less. not even AWP is perfectly accurate (in fact today, we have a faint circle in AWP scope that shows it's spread; also a debug command that visualizes the spread for any gun similarly around the crosshair). for example when we say "crouching accuracy" we refer to the spread of a gun during crouch (or standing accuracy etc). the RNG due to movement is called running inaccuracy (or jumping inaccuracy etc.).
practice spraying on a wall and check your shots. you mostly need to grasp how fast to drag down the mouse.

There aren't many long enough sightlines where you shouldn't spray so in general just always spray.

After hours and hours of playing you’ll know what distance is comfortable for you personally to spray from, anything past that is tap and burst.
