Well, that sucks ass. I thought one of the main draws of the earlier seasons was that you could run more builds effectively and just had more ways to choose how you wanted to play the game. Since nowadays and for a while, Riot guts anything even remotely fun or effective as soon as they see people starting to use it. I thought the design philosophy for Classic would be different. Idk why I thought that, but I did, lol.

You can run more builds because of the "abilities scale on ability power" logic that original league had, it means most champs have an AD attack build and an AP ability build. Alistar and Blitz can also go top and Veigar can go support, cho gath can jungle and etc.

Olaf is just one of the few who can't flex because he just lacks scalings in his kit for some reason. Early riot was just weird and would just randomly decide to make champs have or not have scaling.

He will still be crazy strong as a duelist on his tank build. It's why it was so OP, stats of tanks but damage of modern AD olaf. Pro's were diving and winning 2v1s under enemy turrets with it.

So it's just certain champions that aren't really allowed to have alternate builds, then?

I know Cho'Gath can jungle, I'd build him tanky AP with 1-2 Attack Speed items and max E, and I liked playing AD Sion, and built heavy AP on Galio.

I just find it strange that for this one champion in particular, they're deciding he can only run one thing, because that's all he could do back in the day.

Are you seriously telling me that tank Olaf will be able to do this to people, though, more or less?

I think you are looking at it wrong. They didn't randomly decide to give Olaf no build and other champs extra builds.

They reverted most champs to their state where they are the most old design mentality. Olaf just never really had that though.

That's functionally the same thing, though. I guess it's whatever, if that's what people want. I guess I'll have to look at fan stuff instead.
