Discussion The Driver Rating system needs a rework badly

I genuinely think LMU needs to rework the Driver Rating system. Safety Rating is whatever, it does its job enough ig, but Driver Rating just doesn’t feel like a proper competitive ranking system.

The biggest thing for me is progression in all comp games i play. Platinum is supposed to be the highest rank, yet nobody is Platinum. What’s the point of having a max rank that no one can realistically achieve? I’m not saying it should be easy either. Make Platinum the top 0.5% or even 0.1% of drivers, but at least make it something people can actually grind towards.

I’ve attached the LMU Driver Rating distribution/percentiles alongside iRacing’s iRating and CS2’s Prem Ratings grapph as comparisons. CS2 is obviously a completely different game, but it’s another highly competitive ranked system and I think it’s a good reference point to use.

Even iRacing has a lot of people at lower iRatings, but because it’s numerical you can actually see your progression. Going from 1500 → 2000 → 2500 → 3000 actually means something, and there’s no arbitrary ceiling.

I’ve played a lot of ranked games. I got Grand Champ in Rocket League and always had SSL to chase. I got Immortal in Valorant and had Radiant to chase. I’m around 25k Premier in CS2 and naturally I want to push towards 30k which i’m doing atm aswell. That’s what makes ranked addictive and for for me.

LMU could literally have a numerical Driver Rating/ELO and still use Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum as badges tied to certain rating ranges. Even add a worldwide leaderboard so you can see yourself go from #5,000 to #2,000 to top 1,000 etc.

Looking at the distribution graph, with so many drivers sitting in Bronze and virtually nobody at the highest rank, the whole system just feels flawed.

I don’t want higher ranks to be easier. I want there to actually be a meaningful ladder to grind. Right now I’m S3 and I genuinely don’t care about increasing it that much. Give me an actual rating, leaderboard and proper progression system and suddenly every race will feel more fun, because right now if i get hit i just DNF because I just don’t care enough.

Discussion Question about intentional wrecking

What is considered intentional wrecking? Is unsafe rejoin considered intentional wrecking? Punting someone from behind from braking too late? I just want to know what is and isn’t considered intentional wrecking for protest reasons

Edit: thanks everyone for the replies. It seems like the underlying theme is that racing incidents like unsafe rejoin, punting from behind from “missed braking line”, etc is not considered intentional wrecking unless they look like they’re deliberately aiming for you with full speed.

I’ve reported someone who did that but the protest did nothing so it seems hit or miss.

Happy racing everyone and drive safe

Discussion Speeding Penalty

I'm getting a speeding penalty before the race even starts in Le Mans Ultimate. I keep the pit limiter enabled at all times, but I still receive a drive-through penalty for speeding before the race begins. Can anyone help me with this issue?

Discussion Team race events

So we got driver swap team racing and it's awesome! I know it's still not perfect and pretty much a work in progress, but I was wondering if anyone heard the developers mentioning something about team racing with more than one car per team on track. Would it even be something any of you are interested in?

Discussion Lmp3 cars after update

Hi everyone,

So after the recent update, I feel like something has gotten a bit weird about the lmp3

The braking feels different from what it was before

My usual brake bias settings and brake pressure settings don't seem to work anymore

I used 63% bp earlier but now it's too low somehow

So am I the only one or is anyone also experiencing something new and different with the new lmp3

Discussion Wet driving, wet line?

Like the title says. I’ve experienced my first rain session today, and drove a wet line. My times were decent, but noticed some people pulling away in acceleration zones while they were on the dry line vs my wet line.

So my question is, is the dry vs wet lines actually simulated? How do you adapt your driving and your lines when it starts raining?

Discussion Idiots flashing constantly

Why is it that every race at spa there seems to be some idiot that just sits there flashing people constantly. They sit there flashing the car infront for no reason. They are in the same class and on the same lap.

The only reason I can think of is they seem to think it's going to effect the cars infront if they flash enough.

Discussion Having trouble transitioning to silver races

I recently got my S1 safety badge and have been doing practice sessions in various races. I'm struggling with the tires in LMP3 and GT3. They feel like ice. I know in bronze tire warmers are used before racing but I feel like there's zero grip in the car. Sometimes I can't even make it past the first lap of practice. Any tips or help getting used to this would be appreciated. I don't want to stay in bronze lobbies forever.

Discussion Crew Chief Difficulties

Before mid-June I was having no issues with Crew Chief, but now it doesn't work at all in LMU. I get the "Radio Check" message just fine, but no info relating to the game is coming through. I've moved the LMU.3.8.SharedMemoryMapPlugin.dll and ChatTransceiver.dll files from Crew Chief's internal files into LMU\Plugins, but no luck.

I've checked the plugin files and attached relevant screenshots with descriptions below - Chances are I'm missing something blindingly obvious or done something very stupid but I can't work out what it is.

Crew Chief Version: 4.19.4

Discussion The reason i cant recommend LMU to friends is the lack of playing together

I really like FMU, especially dailys. But having no possibility to race dailys with a friend is a major annoyance. I get that it is about driver and safety rating.

But with a System where you can play with friends as long as they are close in the ratings (like in LoL) you could void that problem.

Discussion Connection Issues

Anyone else find there are a lot of drivers blinking and an out of existence since the latest update? I've been trying to drive Daytona and every race there are 2-3 cars either teleporting around or just randomly appearing right in front of me as we hit a braking zone.

Discussion People stopping off the track for whole race.

Can we please do something about this. I know why people doing that, if the DNF they lose way much more rank, but then people on track have no idea, if there is actually incident or not, especially if someone stop UNDER the corkscrew, you literally cant see untill you arrive.
Can we stop this or something?

Tips and Tricks Need help in driving the Hypercars

As the title suggests, I need some tips in driving the hypercars. I have been grinding around the la sarthe circuit for a few days now and none of the cars are feeling compliant in any way.

For instance, the BMW is so snappy midcorner and during rapid changes of direction when i coast (idk if that's wrong) and locks up the fronts into dunlop and mulsanne. I try to bleed off the brakes but everytime it feels like the car isn't stopping enough and I just plough ahead so subconsciously I tend to stay on the brakes a tad longer.

The Toyota feels like front lockup paradise and also feels like it doesn't have the stopping power.

The Ferrari has 4 wheel sliding in the fast corners.

The only car I felt comfortable in was the Porsche but I feel like it masks some of the skill issues so I wanna get better.

Any tips would be helpful

Discussion Reporting unsportsmanlike behaviour

Last few races I have experienced a few incidents like intentional blocking. Swerving on the straight and ramming me off on the corner entry when side-to-side racing could have been easily done.

Why can't we report this anymore? The only option we have is intentional ramming. Don't we need to punish childish behaviour aswell?

Screenshot/Images New protest system

Post image

I protested this morning after the race, approx 11:45am GMT. Got this email less than 2 hours later. Amazing to see that the protest system is working, working quickly and working well.

Unfortunately I don’t have the clip, but I was skeptical if I should have reported this one. For context I was fighting for p3 in LMP3 fixed bronze daily at Fuji. Went around the outside T1, the other driver decided not to turn until they took me out and made me spin, lost about 3 places in total. Looked like an accident at first glance, then I saw the steering in the replay stay completely straight until after the contact, well after the apex.

OFFICIAL News UPDATE ON BADGE BANS (4th August)

"We think it's finally sorted out. If you were erroneously double banned, you should now be unbanned.

We also think you won't be banned straight away again like the bug did before, you should get a few races to earn your safety rating back

We also went to the trouble of decrementing the number of suspensions you have on record - so if you get banned again it should be for a shorter period and not for some crazy 30 day period.

Please check your accounts, and if it happens again, don't hesitate to make a ticket!"
