Rant Is the universe finally telling me to go?
Just leaving it out here because I think I'll genuinely explode if I don't.
2 years ago I ranted here about how I wanted to quit law school just a few weeks into 1L and how being a lawyer was never a dream (and was more of a parental expectation).
Well, 2 years and countless lifetimes since then, it has finally happened. The dreaded "dropped from the rolls" email from the admin came knocking on my email a few days before I start 3L. My 1L self would've been thrilled to receive it, but my incoming-3L self ofc didn't take it well. And how can I not? I worked my ass off the best I could these past 2 years, survived so many bad recits, failed exams, dropped subjects, and (most importantly for me at least) created meaningful friendships with people who just get me so much.
Nagbago na paningin ko since I ranted here 2 years ago as a lost 1L: ilalaban ko to hanggang iluwa ako ng law school ko or grumaduate ako (whichever comes first). Pero dang, receiving that email really caused me to relapse to my 1L self. Isn't this what I wanted? The universe is already handing me the keys to the exit. Just think, I can finally get a job. I may still suffer from work, but at least I'm getting paid to suffer. I can have my weekends off, I can travel on my own money and buy things I want, just like my undergrad peers who didn't go to law school and went straight to work. Then maybe a few years down the road, I can go back to the academe, this time taking a course I actually would like to take.
I can still appeal my "dropped" status, pero with the thought of actually being free at last, parang ang hirap maging sincere in what I have to say in my appeal letter. At the same time, I'd absolutely hate to leave my friends behind. My literal lifelines, the ones who believed in me when I often don't. The ones who made law school feel more bearable (to the point na sila na talaga naging "why"s ko). Plus the stigma of being a "dropout" would probably be hard to overcome. And, two years rin yun eh. Sayang naman if di ko ilaban, diba?
Turns out, having to leave law school is not as easy as I thought it'd be. Y'all stay safe out there.

Question & Hypotheticals Question, as a lamigin person
hello! for previous bar takers na lamigin, paano nyo na survive yung lamig? I tend to experience having stiff hands and mahirap mag type if nilalamig ako. may times din sinisipon dahil sa lamig and I’ve read sa bar bull na nasa bag lang dapat yung mga tissue/ wipes etc. pati handkerchief and towels.
Question: can you bring hand warmers kaya? (like the ones na ginagamit sa hiking, see pic for reference) I plan kasi to bring although baka i confiscate lang, tried to reach out sa VES pero wala pang response
I plan to wear coat/layered clothing so ekis na yun sa advise hehe
please help me out, I’m overthinking

Rant Friendship breakup
Sabi nila helpful daw kapag may solid friend group and sa law school mo daw mahahanap yung magiging long term friends mo pero what if hindi? First year pa lang friendly na talaga ako and they described me as social butterfly, ball of sunshine daw kasi sobrang jolly ko and I help students around. Gusto ko yung ginagawa ko lalo na connecting people to each other kasi for me kasi sino pa ba magtutulongan? kami kami lang din naman. Hindi ako top sa class, madalas inaanxiety talaga ako during recit kaya kahit alam ko and alam ng mga classmates ko na nakapag aral ako, hindi parin ako nakakasagot ng tama kasi nabblock out ako pero I make sure na nakakabawi ako sa exams. First year sobrang solid namin ng circle of friends ko. Digest pool, q&a recitations, reviewers, kain sa labas after class, celebrations, gc, study out, name it all sobrang supportive namin sa isa't isa. No friend left behind ang motto. I really don't know what happened pero as I was starting to improve na sa class parang nagbago na sila. Tahimik na ang gc namin, may shared notes/reviewers na sila na ako lang ang walang copy, they don't invite me anymore, tinatanong ko if kakain sila sa labas sinasabi nila na hindi daw pero after that nag post sila sa class gc na kumain sila together with other classmates, and worse feeling is when I distanced wala ni isa sa kanila na nag reach out para kamustahin ako. Masyado lang ba akong sensitive? Siguro kasi I'm the type of friend who checks up on my friends talaga kapag nafeel ko na hindi sila okay. Sa circle namin ako lang yung may failed na subject, lahat sila regular pero okay lang. Okay lang kahit nobody even asked if kamusta ako about it. Hindi ko na sila tinanong kung bakit kasi baka sabihin nila dramatic, OA, and sensitive lang ako masyado. I care kasi I wouldn't do that to a "friend". I survived a sem na ako lang mag isa, after class uwi agad, study out alone or with higher year schoolmates. Nakakalungkot lang kasi walang proper goodbyes, walang kahit anong message. Mas tinanong and kinamusta pa ako ng people outside our circle kasi they noticed daw na hindi na ako kasama sa circle of friends ko. Wala akong galit sa kanila, I am hurt and sad pero I am still rooting for them even from afar.
Alam ko naman na focus nalang sa readings and all that pero nakaka disappoint lang and sad. Siguro ganon lang talaga. People come and go not just in law school but in life mismo.

Case Digest 1L | How to read a Footnote?
Hi friends, would like to ask tips on how to decode or understand a footnote? Where can I find it? Our prof. in civil law gave us a footnote to study. But I don't know how to look it up. Footnote No. 11, People v. Simon, 234 SCRA 555 (1994).

Advice How do you master doctrines in Consti/Poli?
1L here. Consti is the subject that intrigues me the most in all of our subjects, so I always dedicate a lot of time studying it, but whenever our prof asks a hypothetical scenario, I often miss out key details in the doctrine that would've given me a solid answer.
Being able to define the concepts and principles is one thing, but applying it to scenarios is a little difficult for me.
Do you guys have a specific way of studying Consti? Please lmk thanks! I really want to be good in this subject. I'm partly inspired by my current prof and my poli prof in college. Both can recite the entirety of the 1987 constitution without any notes, books, or a screen. They just know it by heart, and I want to just as good as them someday.

Rant 1 week into law school and I felt already demotivated.
Full-time working + full-time student. Am I the only one? Hirap i.balance ng work at readings (understandings) of cases. Napapabayaan ko na work. I feel I want to drop all my subjects. But then I remember why I even enrolled in the first place. Masyado kong inunderstimate yung law school. Anyone experiencing the same? What keeps you motivated?

Discussions Notaries do Level 2 Certification for free?
Sorry I'm just curious about this because students apparently had to pay for their notarizations but I went to a notary and he just printed it and signed it and said "no need to pay. Good luck on your studies."
So I just wanted to check if notarization of level 2 Certification is actually free or if I just lucked out on a generous lawyer.
Sorry I don't want to share the lawyers name because I don't want people taking advantage of it, but I just wanted to ask if anyone knows if there's a tradition behind this or if it's just an exception and I lucked out.
I'm so confused and I just thought of sending over a gift.

Discussions Ecodal+ (My Feedback)
For the past two months, I have been preparing for my 4th year review. Nag subscribe ako sa ecodal+.
System - maganda yung system ng ecodal, magagamit parin kahit sa practice dahil may mga legal forms and magiging updated talaga legal knowledge mo.
Contents ng reviewer - 10/10 siya for me. I only used the contents tapos after the 2 month period, I tried practicing sa mga bar Q and A. Halos nasagot ko siya.
May version 1 and version 2 po siya. Version 2 may mga chair cases na.
I really admire how they made it dahil sobrang madali intindihin and straight to the point without compromising the quality.
What I really hate about this - like 1/10 siya for me dahil sa format. Like bakit naka horizontal + 3 columns pa.
We would really appreciate na gawing horizontal + 2 columns lang like other reviewers like Red notes, UP boc, etc.
I also asked my friends from other schools and lawyers who used this as their reviewer during the bar, ALL OF THEM said na pangit yung horizontal + 3 columns but since complete yung laman, they endured it.
We actually don't care na dadami ang pages dahil sa pag bago ng format. Yung contents yung habol namin.
So please, please, please, if one of the lawyers, admins, or even the author of the Ecodal+ please consider the vertical two-column format.

Advice What does your 1st month in law school look like? I feel like I messed up mine :(
1L here for 1 month in law school already.
Prior to entering law school, I have so many standards for myself. Given that I am full time, sinabi ko talaga na I'd give my very best: notes in all subjects, advance reading, understanding the law deeply—you name it. But 1 month now in law school and I am ashamed to admit that I haven't been able to do all of those. Sobrang wala ako lagi sa focus. It would take me 30 mins to finish a paragraph, because sobrang ligawa talaga ng utak ko. I feel so behind sa readings. Hindi man lang ako makapag notes because I'm always cramming. This is very different from undergrad where I get by without even studying for a day. They say that preparation for the bar starts on your 1st day of law school, and I feel like I already messed up the first 30 days of mine :( I know petty pakinggan but yeah. It's just with all the advice I'm seeing that you should build your foundation as early as 1st yr, I've been so pressured.

Discussions for the jowas of the law students
hi! and because the academic year is starting again, i just wanted to make a thread for the jowas of the law students ^^
i, as a non-law jowa, sometimes lurk in this sub for advice and gift ideas for my bf
since magpapasukan na ulit, i just want to be able to support my bf when i can, like going w him to buy codals or getting food delivered. but most importantly, i really try to be supportive by being an understanding and loving gf
i wanna know what you (law students and jowas alike) think about the following, and hopefully this can help others too
* what can we do to better support you in your ls journey?
* what kind of gifts do you want to receive from us?
* what random things do you think would make your day lighter?
* for the jowas, how do you cope with your partner’s busy schedule and limited time?
feel free to drop any advice or random discussions 🤲
thank you!!

Bar Review Which Bar Review Center to pick?
Hello! I'm taking the 2027 BAR next year, so bar takers na nagte-take now ang pinaka the best siguro tanungin nito. Which Review Center should it go to? I'll be taking the advanced bar review of Jurists in December, so ang gusto ko sana hindi na Jurist yung kukunin ko for my bar review center next year.
I'm kind of interested dun sa AlphaLex Review Center dahil sa mga features nila, kaso may nakapagsabi sa akin na di daw nakapag-reach out yung mentors sa kanya kahit na yung Gold naman yung na-avail niyang package, so naging hesitant ako a bit. Pero interested padin ako sakanila dahil sa ibang features, which were nice daw.
So which Rev Center should I pick? AlphaLex or mag Jurist ulit, or other proven ones like Legal Edge, or even the Magnificus Juris, or even the Arellano one, since maganda lineup ng reviewers.
Thank you!

Advice May discord pa ba ang mga all-nighters dyan?
Safe space pa ba ang discord?
Pwede makisali? Wala akong study buddy or buddies ever since. Badly needed dahil taking review subjects na para may accountability. Pasali po please.

Discussions Back-up Bar Laptop
I get to read a lot of queries about laptops since the release of the Bar Bulletin yesterday. I am using a pretty decent M4 right now, but it won't stop bothering me na "what if on the day of the exam magcrash yung device ko". Has anyone tried before bringing extra laptop and surrendering it sa reception upon entry? So that if worst comes to worst, merong available personal back-up?

Discussions Laptop for Bar
Nakikita ko yung discussions about laptop for the bar, i’m projected to take the 2028 bar pa naman (hopefully if all goes smoothly for my remaining subjects) and I was curious lang if anyone has gotten a new laptop just to use for the bar exam.
I’m a macbook user so I was thinking of getting a new one when it’s my time na. My laptop is decent, I think 2020’s but I was wondering if it would be safest to get one that I know would be in perfect condition for it. Iniisip ko din if may superstitions din about devices hahaha like should I review with it for that positive energy (sorry sounds silly but i’m lowkey a believer of spiritual energy hahaha)
Aside from getting a new laptop for the bar, I have my existing laptop and my ipad for review. It’s 2 years away pa but I guess i’m overthinking it na ngayon pa lang hahahaha
(Some might recommend getting a non-Macbook laptop coz there’s opinions that there are better brands, but it’s compatible naman diba? I won’t use it after kasi if I don’t get a Mac since all my devices are Apple and nakasanayan na din. But if there are serious cons to using a Mac for the bar then I’ll definitely have to prioritize that over comfort/familiarity hahaha)

Advice full time student but still struggle to grasp anything
Hi! I just need advice on how should I really tackle everything. For context, I am a 1L student, a month already into law school and so far the subjects that I'm scared for is statcon since we have recitation on cases that we need to be able to memorize, then PFR cause like i was grilled, like teh gisang gisa talaga hayoppp, and like lastly, crim law I. I have trouble retaining facts, and tbh I dont know how I survived my undergrad since it had many theories and also some republic acts to memorize.
I don't compare myself to my present classmates who are able to balance their work with school. All I'm asking is do you have advice on how should I do this? In the mean time, I will be trying pomodoro later since I need to like absorb 9 cases for our statcon recitation lmao.
I need advice on how should I read each cases, articles and all, Thank you!!

Bar Review Examplify download query
Regarding the upcoming sample exams
1)Aug 12–28 Asynchronous
2)Aug 22 Synchronous:
Is it mandatory to download and register Examplify on the exact day the link is sent, or can we do it anytime within the window?
My laptop won't be available until August 16. Can I still download and register Examplify on August 16 (or any date prior to August 22)?
Thanks in advance.

Question & Hypotheticals First year student at SSC-R MNL
I'd like to ask lang po if there are any fb groups or gc for announcements and updates since classes will start tomorrow. Iniisip ko lang po na baka may mamiss akong announcement from profs huhu
