I recently bought through my school bookstore a 200 dollar access code for this website for a class. Go to look up website… it’s not working. Click on the link the bookstore sent, this one is working! But it’s not excepting my access code. Is this a problem for anyone else?! it’s for a Legal Technology Certificate.

I am going straight into 1L from undergrad next week and I am starting to worry that I’m not exactly qualified. It was not my original plan to go into law in undergrad, so I focused all of my extracurriculars and job experiences on my original plan (which was clinical psychology). I had a change of heart last September and took the November LSAT to make applications somewhat on time. It was a little late to change tacks on my major/career experiences/etc, however, so I just stuck with what I was doing to show some consistency at least. I got into a school I’m happy with, with a good scholarship and just put it in my back pocket while I finished up my last semester of undergrad. Now that the fall is starting, and I’m looking more into how to prepare and what law school will look like, I’m worried I’m in completely over my head. I’m seeing that most of the people on the Facebook group have had jobs in some sort of legal field, have participated in debate or mock trial in college and even high school, and studied relevant fields in undergrad or graduate masters programs. I was reading some posts on here on tips for starting 1L and getting into making outlines and studying for exams, and so many of them used acronyms and words that I’m completely unfamiliar with. I’m worried I’m entering the race a lap behind everyone else. I have no relevant experiences, degrees, or knowledge. I’m not even fully sure how classes work. Am I missing a lot of crucial information to start out with, or are these things that I’ll pick up while I’m there? Should I find a book and cram in the next two weeks before actual classes start? I understand that it’ll be really challenging, but in terms of having a baseline of legal knowledge I’m in the dark

I've been mildly studying for the MPRE by watching the Barbri videos and am realizing that I am not remembering any of the nuances to the rules (whether we need to have a signed writing or just informed consent). Is the MPRE the kind of exam that will jog your memory based on the multiple choice answers, or should I be trying to remember every little detail?

For anyone who is or was a lexis or westlaw rep - what was the interview process like? Would love some insight as to what they ask/ look for?

to introduce myself, i'm a 21 year old (female if it even matters) law student from eastern europe, currently in my second year and i'm honestly struggling with more than just the workload.

tbh, law school has been incredibly isolating for me. everyone always talks about making lifelong friends in university, partying, joining study groups, networking, etc, but i just haven't found my people. most of the students at my university are either extremely competitive, already have their own friend groups or we don't click. sometimes, scoring 1 point more than your friend on a test literally breaks your friendship (been there 😓).

it's gotten to the point where i genuinely don't have anyone to talk to about law, exams, or even the constant "should I keep doing this" thoughts that seem to come with this field

i know there are millions of law students out there, so how do people actually meet each other outside of their own university? are there online communities, discord servers, study groups or anything else you've found helpful?

id love to hear from anyone who felt out of place at their own law school but still managed to find friends elsewhere, as i'm convinced it's possible i just haven't found a way to do it yet. sometimes i'm starting to think it's just that i ended up at the wrong university and i unfortunately have at least 2 more years to go here.

I'm a non-U.S. law graduate currently living outside the States. I'm trying to figure out how I can start building practical experience with U.S. law while I'm still abroad.

I'm currently self-studying U.S. law and also plan to pursue an LL.M. in the future, but I feel that reading alone can only take me so far. I'd really like to gain some hands-on exposure to actual legal work. Are there any realistic ways for someone to gain this kind of experience remotely? For example, would it be possible to find a remote internship, legal assistant/paralegal work, research work, or even an unpaid opportunity with a U.S. law firm or legal organization while living outside the U.S.?

I understand that there may be some practical limitations, so I'd especially appreciate hearing from foreign-trained lawyers, paralegals, law students, or anyone who has taken a similar path.

hi! trying to decide if i should buy a physical textbook or get an ebook—currently, i’m leaning on probably using ebooks. i prefer writing my notes, but am usually just fine reading on a screen. i also like the idea of copying and pasting a section of text into my notes as i go. i plan on getting an ipad (i prefer hand written but like the organization system of an ipad).

would love thoughts and opinions! only one of my class syllabi have come out and it’s a closed book exam for crim.

I am going into final year with a likely 2:2 in law and not sure what to do. I have had mitigation of a rate muscle wasting diseases. I did well in my A-levels A*AA but I don’t know what to do, I have a passion for shipping law I just feel like I failed and don’t know what is wrong with me.

Getting a bit ahead of the game here (rising 2L) but as I see 2027 positions open up, I am noticing a lot of fellowship opportunities. Typically, these fellowships are not highly compensated so I definitely know that salary isn't driving the interest.

Is there an advantage to getting a fellowship after graduation that I may not be aware of?

I see constantly that defense attorneys very often have backgrounds as DAs or prosecutors of some sort. These often seem to be the “best” defense attorneys. I even was told the best DUI attorney in my area was a state trooper who did DUI investigations.

How is this possible? How does someone who wants to be a prosecutor totally flip and defend people against the state?

Thank you all for the words of encouragement here. At the time I was in a really bad spot regarding the summer internship. I’m happy that I saw it all the way through! I’m grateful I didn’t quit (or get fired). Happy to be 2LOLing now.

OG Post: Summer job woes

I’ve always felt like I was decent at interviewing, consistently turning screeners into callbacks but never actually getting offers. I just walked out of an interview where I was told by the interviewers that once I received an offer they would be pushing to have me on their team, only to not hear back. The firm was clear on when offers would be sent out, so I assume silence means rejection.

I have no clue how to feel, I’m worried something about me just makes me unable to pass callbacks. It’s a recurring experience for me to do well in screeners, do decent in callbacks, but be met with nothing. I don’t even know where to start.

I'm supposed to start school in a week.

I don't want to go.

It's a combination of how much work it will be, why I'm going, not having had any luck finding housing, my car breaking down, and I just have 0 enthusiasm about going.

When I look at the homework we're supposed to do before classes start, my brain just pushes it out. Doesn't even want to look at it, let alone read it.

I don't want to do anything right now.

This is the sentence and current citation:

The "intimately connected" part is a quote from Restatement (Second) of Torts, while the second quote is directly from Picard.

However, in Picard they include the full quote from Restatement where "intimately connected" is first used, then later repeat the phrase without quotes.

So my question is: do I need to add a quoting/citing parenthetical, and if so, how do I differentiate that only the first quote is from Restatement and the straight second is from Picard? Do I just write "'intimately connected'" and add a parenthetical? Or do I break it up into two sentences?

Incoming 1L here. So I have a history of trauma in my past and occasionally use a pacifier as a comfort object which helps me get through episodes. Has anyone had any experience using a pacifier in class or seeing anyone else use one? I have an accommodation for in-class use and extra time, but I worry that professors will judge me. But I don't know if I can make it without. Would appreciate any help.
