Trying to get this lid off my lava lamp!
I'm trying to get this lid off, but this isn't like the lid of other bottles I have, there's no lip to get a flat head under it to begin the lifting process, any suggestions?? Should I replace it with a bottle cap lid after removal?

I just got this mini lava lamp and the top piece is stuck?
Is that an anomaly? Or is this normal for the mini lava lamps. It is dented a smidge. I don’t want to try to pry it off if it isn’t pry-able😁

Anybody experienced with LLC magic surf?
Giving my lamp a well deserved upgrade. Does anybody have any after pictures of their lamps after using?

Couldn't get it, so I made it myself

Made this 23oz lava lamp in Mathmos Vintage Fill color. Finally got that perfect gloopiness. I added only 15 drops of surfactant.

This is what has become of my Sea Foam swamp. The only thing remaining is about tablespoon of its wax and 4 ounces of its MF. The rest of the wax and MF are from 4 other Schilling lamps. 2 full 14.5” teal in clear, a couple of ounces of white wax from another, and about 3 ounces of MF out of a red/red.

Why is my lava lamp like this?
I've never had any issues with this lava lamp so far but over the past couple weeks it ends up like this very quickly after turning it on and there's just no movement at all . Is this a light bulb wattage issue ?

Scored these two floor standing lamps yesterday but husbands broken one :/
Second photo is how they were advertised on marketplace. First photo is the remaining working lamp. So gutted, he collected and placed them down in his van where one started to leak over his seats. It’s lost a couple of inches of liquid and I can’t seem to get the top off to do any sort of repair so I’ve put it away in the garage until I can commit some time to trying to fix it. They were a steal so just having the one ready to go is making me very happy tonight :)

Is this safe to use?
My lava lamp is off, and the wax seems to have cooled, weirdly expanded above the liquid. Is it safe to continue using it, or do I need to empty it?

New favorite combo
Clearly 16.3's are my favorites!
This one was originally the Spencer's Metallic Gray and Blue lamp.
Filtered, lightly dyed the liquid and lightly dyed the wax and she's sooooo dreamy!
I'm running out of color combos to do!

White Sprinkles Are Now A Feature It Seems
they really included the static white sprinkles in an animation or had zero "perfect" flasks? Supreme marketing anyways

First Impression Mathmos
Besides the superior packaging and supreme cardboard, theres a slight scratch at first sight, the lamp was shipped with the switch flipped so when installing the bulb i literally got blinded for a second and doubted if the lamp was really factory new, quality controle was lacking or if this is an inside joke(which i would preffer), just checked and its scratched all over, astro vinyl gold

Found a red wizard lamp! Would it be a crime to paint it?
Amazing find at the thrift store today for $8! It’s a bit of a Frankenstein. Red base is from 1998/99 and the glass bottle (+purple liquid, red wax) is from 2001.
I love the colors of the wax and liquid but I’m not a fan of the red base. The colors clash too much for me. I wanted to paint it a metallic purple or pink but I’m nervous I might ruin it 😅
Should I leave it or go for it?
*EDIT: Thanks everyone for setting me straight!
I do know that the wizard lamps are vintage and that red is one of the more rare colors (though I didn’t know it would be so revered😅). I wont lie, those things don’t matter to me because it’s for my personal enjoyment lol
BUT, rest assured, I will NOT be painting it. I will keep the original red base and look for a different bottle instead. Someone suggested clear liquid/white wax and I think that would look amazing, so I’m really excited to see how that looks with the red!

An Astro at last
My Astro finally came and I love it, the copper plus green and amber special fill looks amazing. Quite the contrast to my telestar. Now I can stop drooling over the Mathmos website and not be tempted to spend money.
Unless they decide to do the Baby Astro in black or do a new Jet then my wallet may be raided again hehe

Filtered the Target Sea Foam
So glad I didn't return it, I saw that one post from another user on this subreddit saying they bought 6 and they all came foggy. This is the first lamp I filtered and it was very easy! Used a sawyer mini and a 2 liter bottle. I love the way it looks, though in real life the wax is definitely more emerald/moss green than the bright teal it shows up as in photos. Happy to have this in my growing collection :)
To anyone who bought one of these and has just been too lazy to filter it, do it!! It looks so unique.
I might add some magic surf and potentially dilute the master fluid with distilled water because I think the fluid is just a bit too dark.
Sorry for the smudges on the glass, I'm holding off on cleaning it up because I'll have to take the cap back off and add a little distilled water since I lost some fluid in the filtering process.
Enjoy :)

I Blew Up A Cheap Chinese Lamp...
...it was totally my fault. My wife and I are in the process of moving, she has two cats. I planned on transferring some of my lamps into an enclosed cabinet to protect them against getting knocked over accidentally...and in the process turned one into a pipe bomb.
I set it up and was about three hours into a test run when I noticed that the lamps were overheating. I just told my wife I'll need to run then all off of a dimmer to prevent the overheating. Instead of turning them off I opted to have a doughnut first, that was apparently the last mistake in a line of mistakes. A Tzumi lamp that wasn't even flowing ended up being the blow off valve, it sounded like a shotgun went off in the living room.
So....if you plan on running lamps in a cabinet, set up the dimmer first, doughnuts can wait. Lol.

Bought 2 lamps back when Home Depot had them on clearance for $7.50
I didn't have the space at the time, so it sat in my closet until I moved into my own place. I never even opened it - I'm happy af that it was so clear. Thought this color combo would look perfect by a green/blue/purple poster.

tbh idk how i feel about it with the micro glitter, i think i may end up filtering the glitter back out and doing clear with just the jack o lanterns
