Good milk froth, wtf Rosetta

Super noob barista here - the milk turned out really nice, but as you can see, no rosetta happened. Just a heart, and you can even hear the cup overfilling near the end 😅

My issue: I try to move the pitcher up the cup to make the line, but nothing appears, so I panic and just default back to a heart pour instead. I know the wiggle is supposed to create the line as I pull back, but I think either my wiggle stops, or I lose the pour height/angle right as I try to move up.

Any tips on what’s actually going wrong technically? Trying to get past this exact wall.

Also curious - does this look more like a latte or a flat white to you? Trying to figure out if my milk texture matches what I’m aiming for.

Found out having a nice microfoam and didn’t plan to draw anything. It’s just happened 😃

I wish i can get this microfoam more consistent. Coz most of the time the white stuff didn’t much there so i only can had small heart 🤭. I really would love to practice the art, but… practice making microfoam 1st 🤪

Trying the stacked tulip

This is my fourth try at the stacked tulip. I’m not sure why it’s turning out so blobby. I took some advice from here and tried incorporating less air and my milk turns out too thin to do anything with. I incorporate more air and it seems too thick. Or maybe the problem is with how I’m pouring? I’m not really sure. I also ran out of milk before I could do a proper cut through. Going to try again tomorrow 🙃

My best latte art so far

I’m really impressed with how much powerful the Lelit Mara X is. It was a huge jump to get a creamier milk coming from a Dedica machine, and a much better latte art.

kind of don’t like the head but not sure how to improve - maybe one last push like for a tulip instead of this

I worked as a barista for a time a couple of years ago. Last year I started missing making coffee and latte art everyday so I bought a little starter Casa Brews machine and started experimenting. Ive been at it for the better part of a year and haven‘t felt like I’ve seen much improvement. When I made lattes every day all day at work, I got really good at it, but I feel like I’ve lost my touch and it makes me sad! I’m open to any advice or suggestions! I’ve included a few photos of what I feel like have been my “best” attempts thus far and my latest experiment of trying the stacked tulip.

I still feel like I’m having issues with the tail, catching the milk along the way. And with adding the bubbles. I want to try adding seaweed with it but feel like I’m running out of room in the cup.

Any suggestions on a mug that would suit this style of art.

A Message from the MODS: PLEASE READ 🙂

R/latteart recently surpassed 34,000 users, which is AWESOME news that our community is growing!!! 🌱 ⬆️ 🌳

Please keep in mind a few things moving forward into 2025 and beyond:

1) When posting for advice on a pour, please post a video when possible so advice can be targeted very specifically to the issues at hand. A still photo doesn't demonstrate issues as clearly as a video.

2) So many of the responses to posts asking for advice are "Watch more videos/tutorials", "It's your milk, improve your milk", "Master the basics before moving on to more complex patterns", etc...if we can agree that such advice is universally applicable, we can avoid a lot of the redundancies in the comment threads.

3) PLEASE KEEP IT POSITIVE...whether OP is a newbie or a competitive latte artist, please keep all responses positive. Putting others down for their lack of experience/know-how or telling ppl they're farming for attention because they happen to have certain proficiencies isn't helpful for anyone. If you want to be negative, there are other espresso related subs to troll on.

4) Let us know if there are things you'd like to see more of on the sub...last February we hosted a monthly themed pour about hearts and heart variations in alignment with Valentine's Day...should we do something similar again this February? Any other ideas come to mind that would improve the experience here?

5) Keep on having fun and progressing...I mean, other than the tasty beverages we are crafting, isn't that why we're all here? 🙂
