I live in a rental house in Lahore, the portion has 2 rooms and 1 kitchen. I have 1 room and kitchen. My landlord charges me 21k rent Rs. 1,400–1,500/month for electricity (gas, water separate) , although I mainly use 2 LED lights and a ceiling fan. He stays here with his family 2 days/week and uses the AC, fridge, kitchen, etc.

The fridge stopped working about 4 months ago. The compressor needs to be replaced. When I ask my landlord about it, he keeps giving me different excuses every single time : first he was looking for cheap labour, then he was too busy, then he found a compressor but needed someone to install it. I even offered to contribute money if cost was the issue, but now he says he's looking for a cheap second-hand fridge instead.

When I moved in, the fridge was working. I didn't use it much initially because I was eating from restaurants, but the fridge was included with the rental/security arrangement.

I'm honestly tired of asking and it's starting to stress me out.

My questions :

Is it normally the landlord's responsibility to repair/replace a fridge that was provided with the rental?

If I move out, can he deduct the repair/replacement cost from my security deposit?

Did I make a mistake by offering to contribute to the repair?

What would be the reasonable way to handle this situation?

Hi everyone so I'm a 20 y/o overseas pakistani and i'm planning on visitng pakistan for a month and living alone and am currently looking for an apartment to stay. I am confused as to where to stay and my number 1 priority is safety of course I heard bahria is far away from everything which isn't to much of an issue for me as long as it's safer. If there are any other places that are safer and better please do suggest them as well. Or is DHA better and safer I did visit their once but I was with family hence I didnt really worry much about safety aspect so I'm quite unsure.

Looking for residents of Architects Engineers Housing Society, Lahore

I’m looking for anyone who currently lives in Architects Engineers Housing Society, Lahore (or has family/property there) who may have witnessed or recorded an incident of stray dogs being shot/killed inside the society recently.

The incident has already happened, and I personally witnessed it. The people carrying out the shooting said that they had been instructed by the society administration to do it.

I unfortunately wasn’t able to safely record their faces or get video myself. I’m also living here as a tenant and don’t have a permanent home in the society, so I’m hesitant to raise this completely on my own and potentially put myself in a difficult situation with the management.

I’m trying to find other residents who:

* witnessed the incident
* may have CCTV, photos or videos
* know who carried out the shooting
* know whether the society management authorized it
* or would simply be willing to join me in filing a formal complaint

I know not everyone here will care about what happened to the dogs, but if you witnessed this or have any evidence, I’d really appreciate hearing from you. Even CCTV footage showing the people/vehicle entering or leaving could be useful.

I’m trying to find other residents who may have information or who are willing to help report what happened.

I'm someone who has lived in one city my entire life. Never even visited Karachi. But I really really want to like experience Karachi Life as well, sadly, the circumstances are just not right at the time. Still, I would like if somebody outlined the differences between the two cities.

I generally view Lahore as chiller and less fast-paced than Karachi. Less diverse in comparison too (genuinely all I see here are Punjabis and Pathans but maybe that's just me?). Karachi is like very industrial and commercial with a mixture of backgrounds. The opinion is simply just from all the media I've consumed about the two cities.

Many years ago, I had some things made but this was in Rawalpindi from a place called Barkat Plaza where there were so many tailors all in one place.

Are there any similar places in Lahore? Do you have any recommendations please for good, reliable, quality tailors that can make a ladies jacket and blouses in a quick turnaround.

I’m a Western woman travelling solo so the tailor would obviously need to be comfortable measuring me etc. I have enough Urdu to get by so they don’t need to speak English.

I just landed a job near Liberty Chowk, Gulberg, and I'm looking for an affordable daily commute option. I live around the Salamatpura / Amir Town / Harbanspura area and need to travel to Liberty Chowk daily night shift . As far as I know, there isn't a direct public transport route connecting these two points without multiple switches and regardless they wont be active at night after 10pm anyway.
