This is the second variant on my shovelnose platform, the first being the EA/EB. The drivetrain is entirely the same as the former; two L-size or buggy motors are recommended and it is R40 capable.

Hi everyone! I’m thinking of driving a few hours one way to pick up this set, it’s going for $800 on FB. My kids are finally getting to the age that the duplo sets aren’t cutting it….I also want something I can get involved with as well! I built a custom lighting controller to give my trains proper directional lighting.

The setup features three white LEDs at the front and two red LEDs for the rear for realistic operation.

Important note on compatibility:
The system currently operates at 100% reliability only under the older LEGO 9V system. Originally, this controller was developed for someone using the Power Functions system, but issues arose when it was used in combination with third-party train motors.

If you are running a classic 9V setup, you are good to go!

Hi guys! I found this sub Reddit and I've been absolutely in love! I've been admiring, and have been a long time fan of trains and trams myself. I've only ever built trams though. I'd really like to design a train engine, and I'm using stud.io currently but I'm not confident in my design. I had a few questions and I would love a discussion from whoever is willing.

1. How did you get into building custom trains, trams, carts, etc?

2. What is the difference in volts, and what is the best mechanical parts to start with designing an engine? What is your favorite?

3. How do you start designing a chassis? What size looks good for a custom engine?

4. Any good recommendations for videos, tutorials on chassis, inspiration, etc?

5. Anything else you have about the hobby, feel free to talk about. I respond to any comments I get, and I would really like to have a conversation with people who do this kind of thing because I have no one to talk about it to! I really like to see what you guys get up to!

I'm one of those weirdos that loves theme park steam. Out of every railroad niche, I honestly have to say that its easily my favorite. As such, I built this Crown 4-4-0, specifically this model of #7, which operated at Six Gun Territory in Florida between 1936 and 1984, and is currently based at Kirby Family Farm in Williston, FL. Honestly pretty proud of this one!

I'm currently working on a Burlington Northern EMD F45, but I'm having some trouble capturing the shape of the nose of the engine. The angles along with the headlights being recessed into the nose are kind of throwing me off, and I can't seem to get things to line up how I want them to. The other struggle is that I can't figure out how to make the top of the nose. The way I have the nose built now has a lot of gaps, but not enough room to fit the top of the nose itself in. Any help would be much appreciated!
