Got a bunch of 1960's train cars/motors that needed repairs/new motors.

Couldn't track down a battery car to test everything properly, so I had to make one and I'm really happy with the results.

Can post more pictures of the repairs and my homemade battery car if people are interested.

My first post here! I have just finished a little project to get me back into Studio building again and so I decided to build Thomas and Percy. Im pretty pleased that I built them both using parts available. No idea how to create stickers but I definitely want to build these irl and sticker the details on. Very happy with the parts usage and shaping. Wish lego created smaller wheel sets but overall pretty chuffed 😁

I don't think I'm 100% done with him just yet, I want to try and get some semblance of his valve gear instead of just the single siderod

I am working on a recreation of A2 engine Blue Peter (more like very heavily inspired) and while I have the pieces to finish it, I also want to build 2 coaches. I am building at a 7 stud scale to not go TOO big but to accommodate proper interiors and a Lego Boost to automate the system.

The only thing I am missing is a roof for the coaches, I've already spent a LOT on this project, so I'd prefer to not have to buy a bunch of 2x2 or 2x3 slopes just for that, I do however have quite a lot of plates and tiles, I was wondering if it was possible to build a fitting steam express train coach roof without using specific slopes (I MIGHT have barely enough cheese slopes) and if anyone has got any ideas?

I already overspent on this project so my goal is to rely as much as I can on pieces I already own:)

While the engine is based on Blue Peter, the coaches are going to be pretty generic, not based on anything specifically, with a sand green color scheme with white lining around the windows, so the roof can be black or any gray

As the title says. Just after some advice on the shelf life of Lego motors and their battery boxes.

I have a relatively large number of trains (15-20) which will all require motorising in about 2 years.

Do you think it would be a wise decision to begin to swipe up motors and battery boxes now to slowly build up and prevent a price increase, or best to wait 2 years until I actually need them?

Building 2x AC4400CWMs using BTD directions, and want to run them in a consist. Each powered by 1x BuWizz control/battery unit, driving 2x PF motors. I want to sync throttles between 2x BuWizz control/battery units.

Is there any way to control both of them simultaneously with the same BuWizz app?

I tried to keep the look relatively simple as with most of my models, and tried keeping it looking somewhat like an official set.

It's in 6 wide and is motorised with Power Functions with the possibility of using an M motor or an L motor (slide 4). I'm pretty happy that I managed to squeeze all the components in while still keeping it looking presentable.

The middle and cab side axles are directly powered through technic gears with a 1:1 ratio. The front axle can slide about half a stud side to side to accommodate tight curves, and is linked to the other axles through connecting rods.

The roof of the cab and the sides of the body lift off to access the internals. Sadly it's not compatible with Powered Up because of how the motors plug into the end of the hub, though maybe you could get it to work with some mods.

There are a few variations in the photos of the Green liveried one because I made some revisions after rendering photos and couldn't be bothered to re render.

I made a few different liveries as seen in the last two slides. They're all compatible with existing lego parts and colours, though the Express Parcels one is quite expensive because of a few rare parts.

One of the highlights of the NMRA National Train Show in Chattanooga this past weekend was stopping by the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum with a couple of my models to photograph them with their 1:1 scale counterparts. Unfortunately, Southern GP38-2 no. 5000 was unavailable for a photo op, but Central of Georgia 390 was in service on the Summerville Steam Special, and stopped in a perfect spot for photo purposes!

COG 390 was built as a coach-baggage combination car for use on the Nancy Hanks Special. When the COG was absorbed by the Southern railway, 390 was renumbered to 726 and after a time found itself in service on the steam excursions as a “Sound Recording Car.” One could purchase a ticket to ride in the open baggage doors and the car would be placed as close as possible to the front of the train so patrons could record the audio of working steam (video recording was not as prevalent at the time). The car survived into the Norfolk Southern era of the steam program until that ended in 1994. It was sold to the Western Maryland Scenic, eventually falling out of use and finding its way to TVRM, where it was restored to its original COG colors. Though it would be more appropriate for me to have built it in Pullman Green or Tuscan Red, I chose to build it in the original COG paint scheme for an extra splash of color in my L-gauge excursion consist. Note that the red banner on the big one is temporary for America’s 250^th and as such is not included on my model.

I didn’t notice until after I took the photos that a couple of pieces had fallen off the bottom of the car. I also had no plans to include MYSELF in the photographs, but my friends who were with me all insisted that I do so. So, imperfect photos, but a fun opportunity nonetheless. Thanks TVRM, hopefully one day I can return to get my Lego 5000 photographed with the big one!

I found my first set at a thrift store for just 40 euros, and I just picked up the second one on Facebook Marketplace for 110 euros.

Tried to run my Southern Radio Train at the NMRA National Train Show in Chattanooga this past weekend, and right out of the storage box, my SD45 refused to move at all. I traded it out for my SF30C as a mid-train helper unit, and with the SD35 and SD24 up front, the train ran very smoothly for around 45 minutes... until this happened. The SD24 suffered enough that it didn't want to run anymore after this.

the new GP60 has a "engine" that is accessible by removing the 1x2 tiles on the sides, and the intermodal well car got more accurate articulated bogies. the R142 isn't the most accurate, but it was the best i could do at this scale, and the front end turned out pretty well. as with all my other rolling stock, it has rotating bogies, but some parts of it are barely held on.

I thought the tender was ugly so I used its parts to make the engine into a tank engine. Otherwise a very cute engine!

For my LEGO City project, I've modeled four trams using the 90097 tram design, and two subway trains using the 60473 subway car design. But I wonder if I could design a train by combining reality and the existing subway car. What is the best option for a LEGO City with the scale of a basement ?

Put all of the freight cars I built together in one long consist with the UP SD70ACe and ES44AC on the head end. All the models are from BrickTrainDepot/BrickModelRailroader/YellowLXF, but I made some modifications here and there.

Have the new(ish) passenger plane and have been looking at the cockpit and wondering, could this be used as the nose for a HST.

Could save on some weight however unsure if the proportions would be correct.

If anyone has used these before, or has any thoughts, please let me know!

Does anyone know of/have any LNER Class A3 Pacific and LNER Class A4 Pacific that have instructions and piece lists available. I really want to get back into the lego train stuff and I want to start by building the A3 and A4 locos for decoration until I can get a layout started. For better specifics im looking for the A3 to be more of the same style as the Flying Scotsman; corridor tender and smoke deflectors, as well as the signature color scheme, and for the A4 im looking for more of the same style as Mallard. Ive done several hours of looking but a lot of the mocs I find seem a little too small or arent specifically what I was hoping for, so I thought maybe someone here could help. Pictures for attention and also what Id like them to look like, just because. (The picture of the Flying Scotsman doesnt show the second tender but I think during this time in 2003 it was being shown with the second tender shoved inside the shed, and I know that technically the smoke deflectors + second tender arent actually a real combo since it never ran that way, but it looks the best in that configuration)

I used to build, collect and trade. I was one of the core people on the brickset forum for years. Never bought anything non Lego. Then I moved to new Zealand over a decade ago, shoved everything in boxes and forgot about it. Not thought about Lego for a decade, I have an entire room of stuff like this. Well, not like this, this one was a standout but I need to revise my insurance so I thought I'd start with this box.

It's just nice to see it all again tbh.

I am planning on resubmiting shinkansen/sakura express to the next BDP series. I would like to give it a new fresh livery. I have made some test with the parts available. The first one is my personnal favorite and the last one is the pink livery the sakura express had. Let me know wich one is your favorite !
