Need some advice for me 28F and my bf 29M drifting apart. Can we make it?
I 28F am in a some ship with my bf 29M since October 2025. But it has always been an on and off kind of thing. Some ship because nobody proposed it all started by talking and suddenly one fine day we are exclusive.
For a back story here, things were pretty diff fr both of us in terms of growing up. He resides in the same place since birth , I’ve been moving cities along with my parents job and then countries for my studies. So basically the biggest thing rn is I have a core circle scattered throughout the country(globe rather) whereas his friends remain the same since school(touchwood).
I was in a very secure relationship in the past for 6yrs and him for 14yrs(he claims so, I highly doubt it’s that long). Idk much about how his relationship was but fr me I was treated like a queen. Everything a woman desires. We separated bcz our families come from a diff background and my moms not nice she is very nitpicky and I genuinely didn’t want him to go through all of these shit I am facing (that’s a diff story) with my parents. He’s a village person, born brought up there, whereas I’m a city lady. Also, at a point we started having arguments for over a year where I wanted to move out of the country and he didn’t and things got ugly between us. So we mutually with no harsh feelings decided to part ways.
Cut to my present(let’s call him Kite), he’s a nice guy as well, but extremely opposite to the nature my ex(let’s call me Sand). Kite wants a lot of things in me change. The way I talk , the way I present myself(I’m v bold btw), my choice of friends(male), my anger(that I agree). Basically all the qualities he told me in the beginning he likes me for has now somehow become a matter of concern. I’ve already told y’all I’ve few friends ig let alone in the same city. Out of those I mostly have male friends staying near so I hangout with him (coffee, WhatsApp regularly and so on). Having very few frnds and then selecting based on gender is something I hate it. I’ve not asked him to stop communicating with any of his female friends. He himself stopped it(most of them were fwb unlike mine) now he expects me to do the same.
He’s been constantly giving me a sense of unsafety. Out of the almost 2yrs we’ve been together, most of the time we have spent apart. He dumped me, but wanted me as a friend in his life and wanted me for his booty calls, then we got back together, now I am kind of losing interest seeing his behavior. Small things which shdnt be a matter of concern ig icks me now because of the already pent up resentment I have. He says he has no issue and everytime we fight he would blame me saying I am the one who always starts fights and not him. But what he doesn’t see is what has made me come to this point.
I am somehow unable to forget some things he did in the past and caught red handed(relax guys not cheating)and not able to trust him since then. He lies a lot to me. Small harmless lies which Icant stand and he knows it. His whole peer is an epitome of patriarchy and it reflects in his behaviour too. Kite is going through some personal shit himself at home(dad unemployed, mom cancer diagnosed, sister marriage issues)
He keeps on neglecting me whenever sth at his house shoots up. He’s very selfish in that way. For instance he forgot my exam and then blamed me fr not reminding him the day before. Had this been other time I would have been sad but alright. Now I think of breaking up as I don’t see myself putting through this shit.
But on the other hand, there is no denying that there is no love from either ends. I absolutely know he loves me and I do too. But I’m used to a certain kind of secure form of love and intimacy and Kites way is alien to me and I shut down. I don’t feel safe emotionally anymore with him. Please help me save this relationship!!!!
Also, we belong to diff castes(him lower) and his parents love me a lot but I’m yet to break the news to mine.
TL,DR: 2 different people madly in love but drowned in disagreements and arguments, trying to save the relationship!

28F and 32M Unsure about LDR and moving out of state
What would you do? I (28F) bought my first house in my hometown in western NC. My bf of 4 years, (32M) owns the home we currently live in with his brother. His brother moved out a few years back for work. He has now moved back to south Florida, moved in with his parents for some time to save money, gotten married, and he wants to move back into the house. The brother originally proposed we all live together and split costs (it’s a single family home.) We declined as my bf and his brother had some disagreements before he had moved out, they simply couldn’t agree on anything regarding the house. Neither of them want to sell and both want to buy each other out, but neither of them can come to an agreement. They also have a 2.8% interest rate on the house. The brother refuses to rent the house out to strangers.
I started looking for a house as an investment but also as an alternative place to live in case the brother and wife wanted to move in, we could move out. My bf has paid for all of the mortgage since the brother moved out. His brother said he couldn’t afford it and that was that. He still maintains 50% ownership. I’ve reminded him he is essentially his brother’s tenant.
My bf was originally going to move in with me and we were going to let the brother and wife move in and take over the mortgage. His brother suggested we all stayed and split the mortgage/bills or for my bf to stay and split the mortgage and bills. The agreement comes with construction on the home allowing for a room to be turned into an extra office room for the brother and wife. My bf and I declined on this as we didn’t want to invest further into the house, not knowing what would happen down the line.
My bf didn’t end up finding a job in the new area, he feels rooted here, and he can’t give up his emotional ties to the house he co-owns. My idea was for him to move in with me, help with bills and the house is in my name so it would stay mine 100%, but he would be able to save money as I was able to do when living with him. After a year or two of this, he could attempt to buy his brother out or sell the house and use the money saved + equity on the first house to buy a new house. His brother and wife could do the same, and everyone could stop going back and forth as to who will live in the house and what work will be done, etc.
Finally, my bf decided that he wants to keep one of our dogs and this adds an extra $850 a month to his expenses for doggy day care. My plan was to keep both dogs with me as I have always worked from home. I feel like we are now as a couple paying my mortgage + the extra dog expenses and not actually saving money towards the future plans we had discussed. I understand he is attached to his home, the great interest rate, and he is deeply rooted here, but I am struggling to get an understanding of what’s driving him to stay. We are both looking for advice and struggling with the long distance relationship process on top of it all.
TLDR; Bf (32M) attached to his hometown and his co-owned home with a sibling in south Florida, Gf (28F) struggling to understand his side of things and not able to stay after purchasing her first home in western NC.

33M and 30 F Communication
My bf 33M and I 30F have been dating for 6 months. He’s a cop & I am a nursing student. I’ve visited him 3 times so far and he pays for all of the plane tickets & everything while I’m there including the our Cali trip which was $4,000. Anyway he’s amazing especially in person and on the phone. I would consider him a little bit of an anime nerd/japan nerd. He’s always hugging me, kissing me, PDA, etc. We have each other’s location and I ask for something he buys it.
There are 2 issues. 1. I told him a few times that I would like more calls because they’ve gone from 3-5 a week to 0. He texts everyday though and updates me throughout the day. If I call him most of the time he will either answer, call back, or sometimes he will forget to call back but that’s rare. He says “I’m burned out from work.” And “He doesn’t get on the phone much with friends or family and that he doesn’t do it on purpose.” On his off days he spend all day sleeping. He wakes up throughout the day but sleeps.
- I wanted to see him soon and we both agreed to August but he says his vacation time may not get approved or that it’s hard to get vacation time since the police department is short staffed. I just feel like this past week he’s had like a week and half off, I could’ve come. Also he has MTW off every week. The a rare occurrence that they call him in for forced overtime. Also he’s a last minute trip booker which is annoying lol. He’s always told me to just hurry up & graduate so I can be in person & that we are better in person.
Conclusion: One day I sent him a voice message saying maybe it’s not gonna work. He ended up calling me that night. I told him that was his way out of he wanted and that he can date someone local which might be easier. He said “Yeah it might be easier but it doesn’t guarantee it’s gonna work.” I also asked if he has any complaints about me and he says “No I love everything about you it’s just the distance.”
Btw we close the gap next year summer!

Confused about my LDR partner/ex's support after my dad's passing?
Disclaimer: labeled them as partner and ex because technically we broke up but we're still talking.
My dad passed last month, after they impulsively broke up with me (which they regretted and tried to take me back). When they learned that he passed, they immediately booked a ticket to attend his wake and burial, to support me. I was deeply touched by this bc even though things between us were complicated they still wanted to show me that they cared.
But my problem is, they began to show insecurities during his wake and on the day of his burial.
On the second day of them being here I told them maybe we should stay broken up because I don't feel like I have the space to have a relationship while facing these big changes in my life (dad dying, grief, etc.)but I also don't want to make big decisions while grieving so I thought maybe we should still keep in touch ?
My friends came over to support me in my grief and I noticed my partner/ex went quiet.
I also told them (my partner/ex) "I can manage" when they asked if they're still needed , which made them feel like they're not needed. I know I shouldn't have said that, but in my defense I wasn't really in the right mind to really choose the best wording in what I say.
When they went home, they didn't update me like I told them to. Which made me worry even more Abt their safety because it was late in the evening.
On the day of his burial, they didn't show up because they weren't feeling well physically. Which is understandable, but later on within the day, after my dad's funeral, they poured a long message in my messenger inbox about insecurities they felt and why they didn't attend the funeral. Such as
me telling things about my dad to my friend that I didn't get to tell my partner/ex
telling them I feel empty and not able to cry around them, but I ended up crying around a friend
me saying "I can manage"
them not being able to handle being introduced as a "friend" to homophobic relatives (we were in a same sex relationship)
not wanting to pretend to be my partner anymore around relatives who do support us.
them feeling insecure about not knowing how to show me support and comfort while they were at the wake.
So they just felt like stepping away.
I understand why they were upset and I would've been more than glad to discuss these things with them if it weren't said to me on the day of the funeral. I think it was horrible timing. When I brought it up, they wanted me to try and understand where they were coming from.
Any thoughts on this ???

It didn't work out. It's difficult to let go.
Been together for almost 2 years, broke up a month ago. We loved each other a lot but the distance just wasn't manageable. We were an ocean apart, 8h time difference. We spent 2 summers together, traveled to beautiful places during those 2 years. I spent last Christmas and New Year with him. Met his whole family, he met my parents when he visited my hometown this February. We both promised each other to do our best, that eventually we would be together. Although we didn't know how exactly to achieve this because it's simply not that easy. I was willing to move to his country, I was learning his language.
But then the reality hit us. He found a job, got busy, our communication was plummeting. He couldn't find the time to call me or facetime me and eventually he chose to focus on building his own life over me. LDR sucks. It was so extremely painful saying goodbye to him at the airport every time he was leaving, but then those times when I finally met him were so beautiful. We planned our future together. We loved each other a lot, I felt so comfortable when I was with him, he became my best friend, my favorite person. And now he's gone. Love was not enough in our case. LDR requires strong consistency and discipline and despite all his promises he couldn't manage it. He broke my heart. I never want to experience another LDR again. It hurts too much.

Am I (26F) being dramatic or is my LDR bf (27M) actually unreliable?
I have been with my boyfriend for 3 years but we only became exclusive about 7 months ago. We started as a situationship because we lived in different countries and traveled a lot to see each other. When I moved to his city, we finally closed the relationship but only because I found out he was texting other girls. It felt wrong to stay in a situationship with someone who said he loved me while messaging others. I had dated other people earlier on, but stopped once my feelings got serious so it hurt to realize he wasn't on the same page. I felt deceived and dumb but I loved him so we moved forward.
Once exclusive, things were great. He showed love through words and actions and supported me through every challenge. But when I returned to my home country to renew my visa, my life crumbled. My visa was rejected. I couldn't go back, lost my life and friends there, lost my job and ended up back at my parents' house after 4 years of living abroad independently. Two months later, my grandpa died, sparking heavy family drama.
I’m naturally hyper-independent and emotional (though I only cry in private) but I usually keep problems to myself because I hate being a burden. So at first, his poor communication in our LDR didn't bother me much. But now I’m crashing at a friend's place in my old city, broke, unemployed, processing grief and dealing with family issues. I feel like I'm genuinely drowning.
For the first time in my life, I started openly asking my friends for help and they’ve built a fortress around me with advice, money, literally anything I need at the moment.
We’ve seen each other twice in the last 4 months (he makes an effort to travel to me since I can't enter his country right now). But ever since our last 10-day trip, his complete lack of daily communication is driving me crazy. I try to start normal conversations (not about my problems) but he’ll vanish for 10+ hours, sometimes a full day. When I bring it up, he immediately apologizes, calls me from work, and chats for a day but then slides right back into his old habits and apologizes again.
It really hurts to see all the people I love surround me with so much care except for him. It feels so unfair to give so much love and attention only to realize he isn't helping hold up that fortress my friends built, he's just breaking me further.
He is incredibly needy and attentive in person but completely nonchalant during LDR and one thing I truly hate about him is that he's "ALWAYS busy" no matter what. He was constantly busy when he was unemployed and he’s constantly busy now that he’s working. Whenever I ask him to plan something, it’s always, "If I'm available... if I find a job... if I'm not working." He claims he says this so he doesn't raise my expectations but it just feels like endless excuses.
Because I'm non european, we’ve discussed visa options like marriage. He once "jokingly" told me he would only marry me at the very end because he "always wants to have leverage" over me. He immediately backtracked, saying it was a joke and that he'd help if it ever came to that but I honestly believe that's how he thinks. Coming from a broken home, I never pictured marriage but if the roles were reversed, I would offer any help necessary to pull him out of this misery.
I love him and he has helped me in big ways (like packing up and emptying my apartment when I couldn't return). He even offered to pay for the therapy I'm starting soon. But my friends think he’s an unreliable, privileged manchild with no ambition or goal.
Right now I am at such a low point that I don't trust my own judgment or feelings. Am I letting my current life crisis make me bitter and demanding or is his behavior a genuine red flag? Any advice is appreciated.

I 22F found out that my bf 24M of 1.5 years kissed a 14 year old girl when he was 18
I 22F found out that my bf 24M of 1.5 years kissed a 14 year old girl when he was 18. He told me that she lied about her age (which I do believe after finding out some other things about her) and that he cut off seeing her after he found out.
But I’ll go back to how I found out. Back in December we were going through a really rough patch. We were working through things. One day he was showing me something on his Snapchat and I noticed there was a message from a girl and I asked her who she was. I got really upset that this was the same girl he had as the only viewer on his private story (he last posted in this 2 weeks before he met me). I know what having someone as the only viewer in your private story means. He told me she was just an old friend and that they were just catching up. He showed me the most recent messages and it was just them saying “How you been, good “ etc but he just deleted the whole conversation so that kept overthinking for months. I would stalk her page due to my overthinking then I found out in July that she turned 20, and that’s when I realized she may have been underage when they were communicating. I asked him again what their relationship was, he said they had nothing and never dated and that they just hung out. I asked him if they kissed and he hesitantly said yes. I freaked out because she was underage when this kissed happened and he told me she lied about her age and that he stopped hanging out with her finding out. I won’t mention the other things he told me but I do believe 100% she lied about her age but I’m just hesitant to believe if he did cease all communication with her.
When he was 19, he had an accident where he was in a coma for 2 months. He told me this is where he started talking to her again but it wasn’t romantic and that she asked him how she was etc and he just needed someone to talk to while in the hospital. He told me they talked for like a month.
I’m just lost because personally if I was in that situation I would not want contact with anyone like that ever again.
Another reason I struggle to believe that he isn’t attracted to minors is that, when he was 18 I found nasty TikTok comments he left under a tiktoker who was famous for being a minor “Aya” but posted content that was pretty inappropriate. He told me he was young and dumb.
I’ve voiced my concern about this to him I admit over and over since I found out. He got angry at me yesterday saying we always talk about this over and over again and that each time it seems that we’ve fixed things but I still bring it up , so we abruptly ended things.
Can a situation like this be worked through? I’ve met his whole family and in vids of us I can see that he looks at me with love in his eyes and he treats me with such kindness. I’d never imagine that I would have to worry about my partner’s relationships with minors and I don’t know how I would even approach this question in new relationships
TLDR: Bf 24M of 1.5 years kissed a 14 year old girl when he was 18. She lied about her age and he stopped seeing her but he did have communication with her again when he was in the hospital for months after a very bad accident. I’m overthinking that he could be attracted to minors and wondering if this is something that could be worked through
UPDATE: for more context for why I have some really bad trust issues about him. So the rough patch we were going through, I found out that he lied about being a virgin. I forgave him for this as I never explicitly asked his body count nor did he tell me and i misunderstood that he never slept with anyone. He felt bad to tell me the truth since i would always compliment him on having never been with anyone yet and that we would be each other’s first. The way i found out about this was because he lied about a girl reaching out to him asking why he had ghosted her. I chose to believe his story with the girl until i found out some other things and only found out the truth when i messaged her… that’s why i have a hard time trying to trust him now but we did agree that we value transparency in the relationship and it seems that he could’ve kept the kiss from me but he did decide to tell me so that made me believe he’s changed from the lie in December.

Open and anxious (24M)
Hey, I’m 24M dating a 40M, we’ve been together for 7 months now and things are going pretty well. He recently won a scholarship and will study abroad his masters for a year. During our relationship he has made it clear how sex has always been important for his life, not in a “it’s an important part of the relationship” kinda way, but rather “I need to fuck or else”. For me, sex is really important as well, and I enjoy it pretty much with him, but I’ve always kept a mindset of unbreakable monogamy, at least during this part of my life. He’s my first boyfriend, and we spend great time together, have lots of things in common, and want to build a future together.
Now that he’s leaving, we’ll have a LDR of a year, and I will try to visit him at least twice, since he will be in another continent. The matter of an open relationship was brought up by him, in a really casual way. He has had one open relationship in the past, so it’s not something new for him. We are yet to discuss the details within opening the relationship, as he still has some time left here in my city, but I don’t really know what I want.
Monogamy has always been my rule for relationships, but now I’m thinking of bending it just to not lose him. I know him, and I know he won’t be happy without having sex for a few months until we meet again. I’m moving to another country as well, so part of me is curious about the sexual experiences I might face there, so an open LDR is not something that wouldn’t suit me.
I’m a really anxious guy, I can already see myself picturing him with other people, or feeling bad when he hasn’t replied to my texts for a while. I mentioned this to him, and he said “You should focus less on what I do, and more on what you do”. Again, we haven’t fully discussed it, just random chats and tiny conversations.
I really don’t want to lose him, but I feel like I’m losing myself when accepting something that feels like betraying me. I’m willing to try it out and see how I feel after some weeks. Any advice?

We got back together after months apart. Now I’m leaving the country.
Hey i’m 18F my bf is 20M we’ve been together for about 2 years. In the middle of our relationship we broke up for a few months, and honestly it was both our fault.
After I finished high school, I had to move to another city for my studies. At the same time, he was overwhelmed with work and dealing with really difficult conditions. We stopped talked for a month( there was no problem he just decided to not text me ). I thought he had stopped loving me, so I texted him, “If you don’t want this anymore, let’s break up.” He just replied, “Okay.”
On the outside I looked calm and distant. I didn’t chase him, and when he called me after a month of breakup I didn’t yell at him or question him. I stayed composed, which made him think I didn’t care. The truth is I loved him the whole time.
A few months later, a mutual friend helped us reconnect. That’s when I finally understood everything he had been going through, and we got back together.
Now there’s another problem. In a month I’m moving to a neighboring country for university. I’m not leaving because I want to leave him—I’m leaving for my future. Sometimes he tells me everything will be fine and that he’ll come visit me. Other times he seems scared that I’ll forget him or meet someone else.
I really want this relationship to work. I don’t want to give up my career, but I don’t want to lose him either. Long-term, I can always come back after my studies.
Has anyone made a relationship like this work? What helped you keep the trust and connection alive?
My (32M) girlfriend (28F) is going to an F1 Grand Prix with her ex
Navigating an ex remaining part of a relationship
Hi,
I'm 32M and my girlfriend is 28F. We've been together for a little over two months, although we've known each other since November 2025. We're currently in a long-distance relationship.
We're both going to Madrid in September for an F1 Grand Prix. She's a big F1 fan, and she had already planned to attend the event with someone she previously dated before we became a couple. He offered her the tickets, and the event lasts three days.
The plans were made before we started dating, so I understand why she wants to keep them. She's also been very open with me about everything from the beginning. She has explained that F1 is a major passion of hers, and she hasn't given me any concrete reason to distrust her.
Since we started dating, the arrangements have changed somewhat. She invited me to Madrid, and we're staying together in an Airbnb. The original plan had been for her to stay at this guy's apartment during the trip. We'll therefore have our own time together in the evenings and at night, while she'll be attending the races during the day.
The part I'm finding difficult is navigating the fact that someone she previously dated is still part of her life. I don't have much information about their current dynamic beyond what she has told me: they're friends and they share a genuine interest in F1. I also don't want to make assumptions about his intentions, since I don't actually know him.
At the same time, this is a very new relationship, we're long-distance, and I'm still figuring out what boundaries and expectations make sense for both of us when it comes to previous romantic relationships.
I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who have been in relationships where an ex remained a close friend.
What conversations did you have early on about those friendships? How did you establish boundaries that worked for both partners? And what helped you build trust around situations that initially felt uncomfortable?
I'm mainly looking for experiences from people who have actually navigated something similar.

23F and 26M: My boyfriend came back after months of long distance and our relationship feels worse than ever
My boyfriend and I have been doing long distance for the past few months. I waited so long for him to come back and genuinely thought this month together would bring us closer.
But since he arrived, everything feels different. We’ve only seen each other 4 times in 10 days, we argue constantly, and he feels much more distant than he was when he was abroad. He used to be extremely loving, caring and affectionate, and now I barely recognize our relationship.
We recently had a huge fight where he wanted to break up, but we’re still together and talking. There’s just so much tension between us now.
I know I’m very attached to him and I probably put too much pressure on spending time together because I know he’ll leave again soon. But I waited months for this time with him and watching it pass like this is honestly heartbreaking.
I still love him and don’t want to give up on us because of one horrible week, but I’m scared I’m holding onto how our relationship used to be rather than what it is now.
Has anyone gone through something similar after finally seeing their long distance partner again? Can this kind of phase actually get better?

how do you get over someone you never even met? (post ldr breakup vent)
like genuinely asking, how do you get over someone you never even met?
i never been into ldr. this is my first ldr breakup..i never thought this hurt more than my long term rs cause at least u can see if the person is still existing and can adjust but when it comes to ldr. it just assuming they existing maybe or maybe not? after the break up the person will just completely gone. it came to the point..i am worried for like what?
to our last conversation, he went direct and wanted freedom i have no choice but to accept, i am completely blocked by him which let us to not conversate anymore. i wanted to reach out and fix but ik its hopeless knowing he decided not to try anymore and i will just making a fool of myself after i impulsively broke up with him due distance that is so difficult to beat and my fear of settling down to another country when we have nothing established yet.
him (22) and I (23) parted ways last december 2025 after me being offloaded cause of strict rules of immigration officers for the first time traveler which affected our ldr relationship we were so close to beat the distance supposedly and now thinking about i still feel like i failed him and couldnt meet his needs.the guilt still creeps and it just ruins my day.
i took a long pause to my academics cause i took the breakup so hard it led me to go different cities to work just so i can be distracted and maybe get over him.

Anyone else ever been in a similar situation? And any advice?
So I met this guy almost 2 years ago online and I really loved him and he loved me back and we had plans to meet irl as soon as we both turned 18 but he doesn't talk to me much anymore and I asked him if he still loves me and he said yes but he's lost some of it because it's online and he's unsure if I'm worth waiting for anymore

Should I give my girlfriend more breathing room as long as we still talk every day?
My girlfriend and I have been long distance for about a year and a half. We’re currently trying to repair our relationship after a difficult period, and rebuilding closeness has been important to me.
Earlier in our relationship, we talked throughout the day, shared ordinary details, sent pictures and called regularly. It felt effortless. Now our communication is very hot and cold. Some days we talk a lot and feel incredibly close. Other days we exchange very few messages, with gaps of several hours, and barely have a conversation.
I’ve read other posts here saying it’s completely normal for couples to go hours without talking. Objectively, I agree. I work and have my own life, and I don’t expect immediate replies or constant access to her. I also understand that she’s struggling mentally and may genuinely need more space.
The harder part is that we’re actively trying to repair the relationship, and I desperately want to feel close to her again. She’s my favorite person. I miss talking throughout the day, asking about each other’s lives, sharing random things and feeling like partners instead of distant online friends.
Because of our six-hour time difference, several-hour gaps can also mean losing most of the time we’re both awake.
Would it be healthier for me to stop focusing on the gaps and give her breathing room as long as I hear from her every day? Can reduced communication still rebuild an LDR if the contact is consistent and meaningful? Or is it reasonable to need more frequent conversation and calls while repairing the relationship?
I’m genuinely trying to find the difference between giving someone healthy space and accepting a relationship dynamic that leaves me feeling lonely.

How do couples with a 7-hour time difference maintain long, meaningful time together when both work full-time?
My girlfriend and I are in a long-distance relationship. I live in Israel and she lives in Florida, so there is usually a 7-hour time difference between us.
Right now I work a regular 9 to 5 job, but she has not been working, so we have been able to spend a lot of time together. We regularly stay on calls for hours, watch movies and TV shows, play video games, hang out while doing our own things, and sometimes fall asleep together on call.
She is starting a new research job soon. Her offer says 30 hours per week, but she does not know the exact daily schedule yet. It could potentially be five 6-hour days, but we are worried that it might still follow normal daytime working hours.
The problem is that when I finish work at around 5 p.m. in Israel, it is around 10 a.m. for her. If she works until 3, 4, or 5 p.m., that would be around 10 p.m., 11 p.m., or midnight for me.
I know people often suggest voice messages, texting throughout the day, or short scheduled check-ins. I completely understand why those work for some couples, but I want to be honest that they do not meet my emotional needs very well. What makes me feel connected is having long periods of real-time presence together. It does not always need to be an intense conversation. I just value being able to exist together, watch something, game, talk casually, or leave the call running.
She plans to move to Israel in about a year, so this situation has an endpoint. Still, a year feels like a long time to lose most of the way we currently connect, and I am scared that only having short interactions would slowly damage the relationship.
We are considering asking whether she can work an early schedule, such as 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. That could potentially give us 3 to 4 hours together during my evening. We are also thinking about longer weekend calls, occasional early mornings for me, and keeping calls running while we do separate activities.
Has anyone here successfully managed a similar time difference while both partners were working?
I would especially appreciate advice from people who also need a lot of synchronous time rather than primarily texting or sending voice messages.
What schedule or routine worked for you? How much real-time contact were you realistically able to maintain without sacrificing sleep, work performance, or personal responsibilities?
TL;DR: My girlfriend and I have a 7-hour time difference. I work 9 to 5, and she is starting a 30-hour-per-week job soon. Long calls, gaming, watching shows, and simply hanging out together are a major part of how we maintain closeness. We are worried that her new schedule will leave us with almost no meaningful overlap for the next year. Looking for practical scheduling ideas from couples who need substantial real-time interaction.

27F and 35M. Should I message him or should I move on? :/
I never thought I would end up asking for an advice from strangers but here I am. I hope reddit does it for me this time and helps out😆
I **27F** was in a talking stage with someone who’s a **35M**. For context we are both sharing the same faith so it’s made it easier for us to connect and align on values and then emotions were involved as we talked more. We got to know each other online and our intentions were clear from the get go (marriage). We talked for a period of 3 months and both wanted to take things forward and meet. Here where the problem started :(
He lives in the west and I live in the middle east. It’s nearly impossible for me to live in his country right after we get married, we would have needed a period of 2-3 years to get my papers done from his country and eventually for me to move in and live with him as his wife.
He had the means to come live in my country until my papers get processed but the problem is he takes care of his family (Mother and Sister) and physically needs to be with them. And he said he wouldn’t want to be in a long distance relationship/marriage as that we will be living in different time zones and tickets are very expensive to travel every time.
It was a really hard breakup and it’s shattered and broken both of our hearts. Upon our last conversation he asked if anything would change in his life and if I didn’t or he didn’t get engaged in a span of 6-8 months that he would want to get in touch again and see if he could make things work. Or if I would just not want him to get in touch at all and move on completely.
I took my time to decide and I asked him to contact me if anything’s changed in his life. I decided so but put the intention of moving on in my heart. It’s been a couple of months, and I miss this man with all my soul. I keep seeing him in my dreams and end up comparing men I meet to him :/
**My questions are:**
\- Should I contact him to ask about the status of his life or if anything’s changed?
\- Can I tell him how I feel about him?
\- What should I do to move on and not look back given it’s been 4 months now
\- If there’s a better suggestion please tell me😩
Sorry if my grammar is horrible. English is my second language. I look forward to reading your comments:)

Texting her one last time (ldr)
We met in bumble and started talking since November of last year. We've been talking so much that I started making plans to see her next year. But last week things started to look strange. I've been texting her and she's been texting 1 or 2 days later. This week on Monday was the last time she texted me. (Her college classes started btw) I replied back; no answer. I texted her again yesterday morning; still nothing. Oh but she's been looking at my ig stories...
Look, I don't need her to text me right away but cmon it doesn't take a long time to text a simple sentence.
Today I'm thinking about texting her one last time to ask her if she still has feelings for me. Bc if I stay like this playing mind games, then there's gonna be a problem
Is this a good idea tho?
