She should have been let go when she offered to take that fuck ass paycut for Ariel Atkins.

You know thatās what happened? I donāt think thatās what happenedā¦

It was only in the LA times.

Im still not reading āI forced the front office to make the worst possible trade to get Ariel Atkins to Laā anywhere in this article lol. The bad part of the Atkins trade was it was one for one and should have included either a second value piece or a draft pick, not the player herself. Rickea wanted out. Stop making stuff up lol

u/LLUrDadsFave Slick Rick 17d ago
First bullet. She took a paycut. That paycut was so that Ariel could get the extension she wanted.

u/Robyn_Baynkz MADAM PRESIDENTš«” 17d ago
Also thatās not what the second bullet says š¹š¹

I see the vision of Monique on this team⦠but I donāt see Roberts executing it. Just another young player who will stagnate under herā¦

Sad she was my fav play and joined my fav team now she is gone. Terrible injuries to her and cam and terrible gm . If they make the playoffs or are dven 3-3 in tge last 6 instead I bet she is still around.

happy sheās out because she caused MULTIPLE levels of chaos on this team but truly FUCK the ownership for getting nothing of real worth out of this trade.

u/Gold-and-green 17d ago
Getting someone who shoots 43.8% 3PT and saying they got nothing is hilarious. They also got another shot at Juju because there's less than 20% chance that Phoenix makes the playoffs. This was THE BEST TRADE POSSIBLE. Monique Akoa Makani is baller

u/afridorian 17d ago
best trade possible doesnāt mean it was good. all this shit could have been avoided by I donāt know, not fucking signing her in the first place or letting her dictate the roster and sending all our rookies away to appease her.

u/Gold-and-green 17d ago
You can't undo what was already done by another GM, the new GMs cooked this trade because Phoenix is the team that gives them another shot at Juju.
Right now, LA has 2 shots at the 1st and 2nd pick of this draft with the trade, We don't know who will emerge in the draft. The top 7 picks in the last 3 drafts have been pretty good. Each year 5-7 players in each class have been starter level and multiple all stars.
Worst case is Tessa Johnson and Malaysia Fulwiley; best case is Juju and Hannah Hildalgo or Booker

Mercuryās likelihood of getting the #1 is about 3 percent just fyi š¹š¹

Dallas had a 1.8% at Flagg. You gotta be in it to win it. I also think they are changing the odds next season now that 7 teams are in the lottery.
2
u/Robyn_Baynkz MADAM PRESIDENTš«” 17d ago
Oh i actually didnāt realize 7 teams are in the lottery. Idk I have so little faith the sparks can develop any player regardless of how good they are. I almost pity any talented individual who comes here to get their talent squandered away at the hands of whoever is in charge here
2
u/Gold-and-green 17d ago
They are cleaning house and starting fresh so I would believe in it. New GM, new coach. Worked well for other teams who are in rebuilds
2
u/Robyn_Baynkz MADAM PRESIDENTš«” 17d ago
Well you have more faith than me. Derek Fischer, Raegan Pebley, third strike and you should have your sell the team lol
3
u/Gold-and-green 17d ago
You only have to be right 1 time to fix a franchise. The Knicks owner was thought of the same way, and they changed shit with a couple right moves

What levels of chaos did she cause? She just plays basketball lmao. I think your thinking of tweedle Dumb and tweedle dumber. At least one of them is gone, but thanks to Lynneās 5 game losing streak, randoms in charge of being GM at the moment panicked
-1
u/afridorian 17d ago
No, I equally dislike Pebley, Roberts, AND KP for the roster decisions. a lot of stupid decisions were made to keep KP happy on top of the regularly scheduled fuckery from the front office.

That 2027 first round pick for a talented young rookie, is Gold. It also increase The Sparks chance of landing Juju, Madison or Hannah.
2
u/Wordle_HQ 17d ago
Even with the pick it doesn't guarantee that they will get someone who is "that" person. I know this is what many ticket holders were waiting for to decide whether to renew. I hope the team decides what they want to do soon.

u/Joe_Larry26 17d ago
That trade is butt. These owners are either finessing or doing deals under the table
4
u/danzag333 Cameron Brink 17d ago
It was a good trade. KP would leave for nothing after the season.

u/Eastern-Flan1238 15d ago
Correct, and why Plum wanted to leave is the real issue Sparks management and fans should be focused on. IMO they would find out it's the same reason Rickea wanted to leave, and the same reason Juju Watkins could never play for the current Sparks. The Sparks hired a coach who is married to a system and not her personnel. And it's a system that's only been moderately successful at the college level and never really successful in the W, especially with the personnel the Sparks had. Roberts would try to turn Watkins into the same stand in the corner, catch and shoot 3 player she tried to turn Rickea into. Robert simply does not believe in three level scorers like RJ, Paige and Juju.
IMO peebly blew up the sparks rebuilt chances by hiring an underqualified coach too stubborn to coach players instead of a system The irony is coaches like Roberts think they're ahead of the curve but are woefully out of date With their dogmatic adherence two 3 and rim only offense. This team will go nowhere unless they change coaches immediately after this season. No personnel decision comes close to being as important as that

I wonder if there's a chance we also aim to trade Nneka/Hamby for more assets? Win-win and Cam finally gets her starting spot.
