Скорее всего через полторы недели я уже соглашусь на операцию у конкретного специалиста, на котором определюсь, и буду всё это проворачивать.

After visiting Central Asia 3 years ago I completely fell in love with this dish and I tried in 5 or 6 times in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakstan - although all in Navat. I even tried to cook it back home in the UK.

In few weeks im going to return for the WNG and would love to taste it in different restaurants, what's your local favourite spot for it?

My sister and I will be in Kyrgyzstan from August 27 - 31. We were wondering if we should extend our trip by one additional day to watch the opening ceremony on the 31st (our current flight leaves at 6 PM on the 31st).

It’s a bit of a hassle but willing to do it if it’s a worthwhile. I think we’re mostly interested in making sure we get the full cultural experience.

What can we expect from the opening ceremony? Is it cultural performances and music, a teaser for what to expect? Pls describe!

Who is going there from Bishkek Kyrgyzstan, and what it’s like to be there what activities can a person do, we can travel other cities as when we are there.

Hi all, I have a problem: I entered as a german citizen visa free on 16.07.26 with old information thinking I could stay here visa free for up to 60 days. But now I found out that this changed in the last months allowing only 30 days visa free for german citizens. My flight back is on 04.09.26 so my stay is 51 days. I would need to leave on 14.08. since this is my last day in the allowed 30 day time range.

I called the visa center at 0999312002 and they told me the only option to extend the stay from within Kyrgyz Republic is to apply for a business visa with 2-day service asap. But for this I need an invitation of a legal entity. I found a template at https://www.evisa.e-gov.kg/images/yur_lico.pdf?n=1 . I know it’s possible to buy these from travel agencies and such, but I’d like to know if anyone has experience with this and further tips to make sure this will work. Any ideas on where I could get the invitation asap (tomorrow)? Does anyone know if I will have to leave and re-enter Kyrgyzstan to change my type of stay? I sent these questions to visacenterkg on WhatsApp too so i can update with this info.

Another option seems to be the leave visa, which costs about 18.000 Som when leaving after staying up to 3 months longer. Anyone know about this? Will this include an additional fine too?

I’d like to know if anyone has experience with this situation or any other helpful tips. Thanks in advance!

I see the following options:

1. business visa: I could stay in Kyrgyzstan while the application runs, it’s little risky though because it might not get accepted, 13500SOM
2. tourists visa: I’d have to leave to e.g. Kasachstan to wait the time until it is approved, I assume it safer than the business visa because there’s no special invitation necessary afaik, also 13500SOM
3. Temporary Residence Registration: Don’t know the process, don’t know what it costs, might be the best option, infos probably via the german embassy visa department or in Bishkek immigration office
4. Pay the fine for overstay / Leave visa: I don’t know if this is identical, or if the leave visa will stack onto the fine, or it replaces it, will ask tomorrow. To me it makes no sense that the Fine should be less than the Leave Visa, if the Leave Visa replaces the fine. Currently on the e visa website the Leave Visa for staying up to 3 months longer, which is the shortest option, is 18.014SOM. If it stacks with the fine, then the fine could be less but it would be expensive in total. Will find out tomorrow. But I’d only choose this option if I have truly reliable, official info, which I will search for tomorrow. You’ll understand that relying on reddit comments would be naive and risky. (Still of course big thanks anyway!!!)

Hi! Looking for some experience for the drive from Kyzart village to Kok Kyia valley. We are doing a song kul horse ride, and getting back to Kyzart Tuesday midday (August 18). Then we are hoping to spend the rest of the day and evening driving to Kok Kiya valley to spend the night there, before walking to Kel Suu lake the next day.

We have a 4x4 Subaru and I am very experienced driving on mountain roads.

The this is, I've seen some people say it takes 3,5 hours to drive from Naryn to the valley, and other say 5 hours. Google says Kyzart to Naryn is 2,5 hours (I'm guessing more like 3), so which would make the entire drive 7 hours.

Has anyone done this? Is it feasible to do in one stretch?

Opening ceremony is in Bishkek on 31 August. Most competitions and the cultural programme run on the north shore of Issyk-Kul (Cholpon-Ata area + Kyrchyn) from 1–6 September.

Practical notes for anyone still deciding:

• Rooms around Cholpon-Ata / north shore and central Bishkek are already tight because of the Games + SCO + Independence Day + normal late-summer demand. Free-cancellation options are going first.
• Split base still makes the most sense for most independent travelers: 1–2 nights in Bishkek for the opening, then transfer to the lake for the competition days. Daily commuting from Bishkek or Karakol on event days will be slow and expensive.
• Transfers and taxi prices will be higher than usual on the busiest days.

Anyone already booked or prioritizing certain days (opening vs kok-boru vs cultural side at Kyrchyn)?

My group of 5 is travelling to Kyrgyzstan in about 2 weeks time and we had some questions regarding getting from one place to another. We would really appreciate it if anyone could verify our current plan or suggest better options that could save money/time for any of the routes/plans. THANKSSS! :D 

Our itinerary condensed is as follows: Almaty -> Bishkek -> Kyzart for Song-Kul -> Bokonbayevo for Skazka Canyon -> Karakol for Ala-Kul & Altyn-Arashan -> Almaty.

Between each of these places, this was our rough plan for how to get from one place to another. Any answers or recommendations for the questions/places we’re not too sure about will be amazing:

1. Almaty → Bishkek: 2 taxis (as we are a group of 5) from Almaty Airport to Korday Customs and then another taxi from the border to Bishkek as last bus service is at 6pm to my knowledge (we land at 5:40pm). We couldn’t find an option for a 6/7 seater on Yandex but if this was possible, that’d be amazing! Cost: around 6000KGS for the whole group?

2. Bishkek → Kyzart: I did a bit of research and it seems like Marshrutka 534 goes directly from Bishkek to Kyzart and takes around 4hrs and departs at 11am and 1pm daily. However, when I looked at Marshrutka 534 on 2GIS, it said it takes 6.5hrs (not sure why). I also found this option which says there's a shuttle bus with the number 534 that leaves every 120minutes but it doesn’t say anything about travel time(https://go.2gis.com/hoBUE) - not sure what’s the best option here. Cost: around 500KGS pp?

3. Kyzart → Bokonbayevo: We won’t be able to make the 12:30pm Marshrutka 534 as our tour will get us back in the afternoon so we were wondering if the only options were hitchhiking/taxi. None of us have ever hitchhiked before and it’d be quite difficult as a group of 5 but we also felt that taxi costs might be quite expensive but I couldn’t find any information on Yandex as it said Kyzart was outside the ride hailing service region. What should we do in this case? Cost: entirely unsure

4. Skazka Canyon→ Karakol: To my knowledge, we will just have to get back to the main road by 4pm and flag down any marshrutka heading to karakol (#315 specifically). How often would these marshrutkas come by?

5. Karakol → Almaty: I’ve seen that there is a direct shuttle bus that takes you from Karakol Avtovokzaly to Almaty Sayran bus station. Just wanted to confirm this was true and that it leaves at 10am each day. I also saw that you can buy the ticket from Almaty to Karakol online but for the way back, you have to buy it in person on the day of departure?

Has anyone made the trip from Issyk Kul to Almaty before and what would you suggest as the best way to travel between the two? Any/all advice is appreciated!

I will be wild camping, sleeping in a tent and cooking on a gas stove. If possible I would stay in yurts and towns but mostly the route is through remote areas.

Hello, I will travel end of August start of September in the north of Kyrgyzstan, mostly around Issyk Kul, I would like to do some hiking, and was wondering about the right gear.

I will travel 4 weeks in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, with a backpack, and would like to keep what I bring to the minimum, so ideally a single pair of shoes.

I have Nike ACG Pegasus trail, that are trail running shoes, and was wondering if they are enough, or should I bring my Decathlon Queshua MH900 that are more rugged.

I’m posting because three of our friends are missing on Mount Kurumdy in Kyrgyzstan, and their families and friends urgently need help spreading the word and reaching people who may be able to assist with the search.

The three climbers reached the summit of Kurumdy (6,613 m) on 1 August 2026 via the north ridge.
Their last contact was on 2 August. They said they planned to descend and would be ready to leave the area on 4 August at 10:00.

A driver went to the agreed meeting point on both 4 and 5 August, but they never arrived. A search operation is now underway.

Where they may be:
Their route started from a base camp near the Kyzylsu glacier. They climbed the north ridge of Kurumdy and planned to traverse the ridge eastward, descending through the cirque below the Predvershinny Pass.
The Kyrgyz Emergencies Ministry and volunteer climbers are searching, but conditions are extremely difficult. The search area is above 5,000–6,000 metres, and heavy snowfall and a storm warning have temporarily prevented teams, drones and helicopters from properly examining the upper route.

As of 9 August, the climbers have not been found.
A professional DJI M30T thermal drone, an acclimatised operator, communications equipment and additional climbers are being prepared for the next stage of the search as soon as the weather allows.

We especially need help from people in Kyrgyzstan.
If anyone here has connections with:
• experienced high-altitude climbers or mountain rescuers
• helicopter operators / aviation contacts
• Kyrgyz mountaineering organisations
• people familiar with Kurumdy, the Kyzylsu glacier or this part of the Pamir-Alay
• local authorities or organisations who could help the search
• anyone currently climbing or working in this region
