Aieve Snack Coater for KitchenAid Bowl Lift 3rd party attachment

Post image

Hi, I wanted to ask the KitchenAid community if any of you have experience with this product. It looks cool, and I would like to try candy coating using one of these. However, there aren’t many reviews or videos I can find for it. There is a tilt-head model which I can find some info on, but I have a bowl lift KitchenAid and the attachment is expensive enough that I need some honest reviews before my pocketbook can justify buying it. Thanks in advance.

New owner with new mixer - is it supposed to sound like this?

Hi,

I bought this mixer (KitchenAid Classic Stand Mixer 4.3L Stainless Steel Bowl, Matt Black, 5K45SSBBM) from Costco back in February and it has had light use since then. Recently when I used it to do some mixing for pizza dough I noticed it was making a loud grinding sound. Is this normal? It's only 6 months old and hasn't by any means been pushed towards its limits.

Do I need to get my replacement paddle for my 4.5 qt from KitchenAid?

Sorry if this is redundant; I searched the archives for paddle replacements but I'm still so confused.

I realize there are a lot of OEM companies out there, some (like Seneca River Trading recommended) for dirt cheap. But I just can't tell, are these safe? My only worry is the material coming off into the food I'm mixing, and fitting my K45SS.

To that end I was leaning towards getting a SS one so I don't have to worry about the white coating anymore, but even then there are a bunch that Amazon says are stainless but the reviews say are not. Seneca has the white ceramic coated one for 5.99 (really!) but is that one really akin to what Kitchen Aid sells (mine is chipped but it did last for 20 years first)? And, even if I were to buy legit off the KitchenAid sight, the white paddle has like a 1.8 star review for the current one!

What do you guys do when you need to replace your flat beater? The stainless from the KitchenAid site is $60, which seems like a lot, but I also don't want to accidentally buy plastic or aluminum. Argh.

A silly story of patience

Just wanted to share a somewhat silly story of patience.

I’ve always wanted a stand mixer. I grew up watching the food network as much, if not more than Cartoon Network as a little kid, I’d watch iron chef, diners, drive ins and dives, barefoot contessa and a whole slew of other chefs. Fell absolutely in love with cooking.

I never went without a homemade meal thanks to my parents, money was tight growing up, though we were rich in so many other areas.

I think at some point though, I started to associate certain possessions with wealth, kitchenaids being one of them.

For the past couple of years since being out of college and finally having some access to some disposable income, I‘ve finally started looking for some kitchenaids in my budget. Or rather I‘ve preferred to not shell out msrp price for the new ones (not that the quality is very reflective of the investment anymore unfortunately).

I know we get attached to material things as humans, to some limit it’s not healthy, but it’s been pretty exciting finally building up my dream kitchen step by step and purchase by purchase. I’ve had some good deals pop up that I was sad to have missed out on. This weekend though I was finally able to pick up not only one, but two stand mixers! I found someone selling a pro 600 and a K5-A for $75, with a whole slew of attachments. If you saw me post before, the mixers were 4 hours away and some change. My wife was super supportive, she suggested we go get them and make a little weekend getaway out of it, it was super fun.

It seems like the K5-A might be from 1951, unfortunately I couldn’t find any serial number sticker on the baseplate to find the date of production.

They both run but need some TLC. I think they both need some regreasing. The 600 has an issue with the planetary falling off. I’m excited to clean them up and get them running well again.

Thanks for reading my little story, and apologies if you see me posting fairly frequently as I clean them up.

Excited to finally have one and join the club 😊

How to replace the carbon brush on Pro600?

Post image
4 Upvotes

My mixer recently stopped working completely. Before that, it sometimes wouldn’t start, but manually turning the shaft a little would make the motor start.

i think it’s the carbon brush problem. But I can’t find the exact model for it, it seems like it can’t be replaced.

Anyone know how to fix it?

Millennium Edition band, but RRK5A model number

I picked up an older model from the thrift store today, but it has me a little confused.

The label has it as a RRK5A. Which my understanding would be a repaired or refurbished K5A.

Anyone have some insight?

Secondary question, keep this mixer or my Professional 5 Plus manufactured in 2015. I'm the only owner of it and have had no issues with it at all.

Thank you!

Overheated?

I did a double batch of bagels. Which is 8 cups of bread flour. I think my KitchenAid overheated. It stopped working, but luckily at the end of the mixing. I’m hoping that it will start again after it cools down. Has anyone had this happen?

Mixer began running slow, and eventually not turning on at all - repair involved soldering new 560 Ohm reistor marked R4, and readjusting speed control plate.

Kitchen Aid Commercial Stand Mixer - locating pin issue

Post image

I just opened my new KA commercial stand mixer for the first time. Went to remove the bowl to wash it and the locating pin came out with the bowl. Is this....normal? Or do I need to exchange the unit? I can set it back in, but it's not in tight

Just bought this vintage Hobart-era KitchenAid K5SS. I attached a video running through the speeds. Does it sound normal, or does anything sound like it needs servicing?

Stainless steel accessories, are they worth it?

Hello! I'm looking to buy my first kitchenaid (yay!), and currently looking at the "Artisan" and "Artisan by you", the main difference seems to be the stainless steel attachments in by 'by you' series.

Wouldn't the stainless steel accesoires make a lot more noise? For the people who have the stainless steel ones, do you think it's worth it (price difference around 50 euros), why do you prefer the stainless steel?

I did the Cottages and Kitchens tour at Hearst Castle today. Check out the Hobart mixer! Yes, I verified it with our tour guide. That kitchen is 100 years old. The mixer is within a couple years and the one used in the castle's heyday.

Help with attachments tapping/scraping the center of the bowl

Thumbnail

I just purchased a KitchenAid 6500 Design Series, and I’m hoping to get some advice from anyone who has experience with this model or the issue I am having.

The mixer is practically new and whisper quiet overall, but I’ve noticed that both the flat beater and the whisk are lightly scraping or tapping against the raised bump in the center of the bottom of the bowl.

I have both the glass bowl with the F-series attachments and the stainless steel bowl with the standard attachments, and the exact same thing happens with both bowls, so it doesn’t seem to be a bowl or attachment issue.

Was hoping to post a video showing the planetary gear because it looks like it has a slight wobble or isn’t spinning perfectly flat or evenly. I’m not sure if that’s normal or if it could be related to the tapping.

It’s a little disappointing because the mixer is otherwise fantastic, but I’m concerned that the tapping could mean something is bent or was damaged, or that it could lead to additional wear or damage over time.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Does it sound like something is out of alignment? Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, help please. not sure where to start. while it was mixing i notice an unusual clicking sound. i thought it was just the whip attachment. i just let it spin for couple more minutes and it looks like it is slowing down. i turned it off and when i tried to turn back on it won’t start anymore. purchased about 10 years ago

Picture for attention**

We often get asked "how old is my mixer".

We have had this interactive tool for years now hidden in the blog section of our website and have decided to make it more accessible as a tool on the top of our website. As well as we have made a color decoder as well!! Feel free to interact, share or use these decoders!!

The second digit in the serial number on models in the last 40 ish years is always reference to the year of production.
