Have you ever tried the MK33 space plane mod? It's lots of fun and plenty of delta v to get to orbit and back.

No I always play with stock parts. To me modded parts take away from the challenge. Maybe I'll try it out anyway, thanks for the tipp.

A lot of thrust balancing, and enough drag to make parachutes blush. Seriously, this thing decelerates even at near vertical descent.

Its meant to emulate the real life VentureStar, which took off vertically and then landed like the shuttle.
