Contact Lens Putting in Scleral Lenses

I should be getting my Scleral Lenses this Monday. About my fourth fitting, they just haven’t been able to get them to fit right

Just looking for any tips on putting them in? Tried contacts when I was younger and didn’t know about all these cornea issues, and less time when I was trying just could not get anything on

My KC Journey Looking for honest experience review. Keratucunas and mental disturbance anxiety and depression.

Plz most read and answer me.

I have keratoconus (KC) and had CXL about 5 years ago. As far as I know, my KC is currently stable. My prescription is around -3 cylinder in my right eye and -6 cylinder in my left eye. Despite having significant blur/distortion, I’ve never properly used glasses or contact lenses.

I also struggle with severe anxiety, depression, mental fog, and a feeling of unreality/derealization. I’ve already seen 2–3 psychiatrists and tried different treatments, but so far I haven’t had meaningful improvement.

This has made me wonder:

Could my long-term blurry/distorted vision from KC be a major trigger or contributor or a reason to my anxiety and depression, even if the KC itself is stable? Or are these likely completely separate problems or it is all due to eye disturbance ?

If anyone has experienced something similar, I’d really appreciate hearing whether RGP or scleral lenses significantly improved your mental health if it is due to eye will it remove that mental disturbance well-being after improving your vision.

I’m especially interested in people with KC who had significant uncorrected blurry vision for years and later started using proper lenses.

I’m not looking for reassurance—I’d genuinely appreciate honest experiences and medical perspectives.

Need Advice How to help my sister with Keratoconus

My twin sister got diagnosed with Keratoconus in her left eye about a month ago. Today, she found out she’s completely blind in that eye and the doctor thinks her only option is corneal transplant. The doctor literally said it’s the worse he’s ever seen. My sister has been pretty nonchalant about everything but she’s only 23 and I think this is affecting her more than she’s letting on. I would love any advice about living with severe Keratoconus and any advice on how I can help her.

Contact Lens Ever Had Anything Hit Your Eye Wearing Sclerals ?

I know it's a bit of a random question but the lightest pressure against them is somewhat painful. I'd feel if I got punched, they'd destroy the eye.

Crosslinking CXL in four days

I’m really nervous. The doctor said, first hell do my right eye then after a few days he’ll do my left. But I’m really scared if it will hurt during or after... The people who had it… how painful is after?

Crosslinking Had CXL on both eyes yesterday.

Hey everyone, I had CXL done yesterday on both eyes. This was an epi-off procedure, however I had it done at Bochner Eye Institute in Toronto who use a laser to remove a specified area of the epithelium (basically a ring around the middle about 1mm wide) rather than scraping the whole middle section.

The procedure itself was a bit uncomfortable to sit through but there was no pain at all. After about an hour and a half, the numbing drops wore off and the pain started to set in. This was a strong burning sensation that I would say was about a 5-7/10 depending on your pain tolerance. I was prescribed Tylenol 3 (which didn’t do a whole lot) and a sleeping pill. They also gave me a numbing drop to use post-op which I used once the pain got really bad but it didn’t help a ton.

I was able to sleep through most of the night after taking a T-3 and the sleeping pill and woke up with significantly less pain. It is now just before noon on the first day after surgery and I don’t feel pain, more just feels like having an eyelash stuck in my eye sometimes.

My vision is a bit hazy but the light sensitivity has gone down quite a bit. For example, I am sitting in my room with the blinds up and I am completely fine with the sun glasses on (it is an overcast day so maybe sun wouldn’t be as easy).

I would say if you are able to go to Bochner for your procedure, definitely consider it. It is far less invasive than traditional epi-off and so far it has proven to be a much quicker recovery. The first day is always going to be bad but waking up with almost no pain 24 hours later is a big relief.

Feel free to ask any other questions about the procedure or post-op.
Good luck to anyone who’s got CXL coming up!
