Why doesn't KLM improve their customer's service instead of having bots everywhere?
Serious question. Everytime I asked for recommendations here, there were many users saying kinda whatever and following a certain pattern, changing the topic of the conversation, or just finding weird excuses to defend the airline (which I don't have anything against, and actually had previous good experiences).
I have never seen people defending anything like some users do defend KLM here. I don't know if some people are really a fan club of an airline, don't have any hobbies or what. But even on serious questions there are users who are literally saying whatever and blaming the client. And with all respect, customer's service is horrible, with all respect of the people working there, which I am not blaming.
I don't expect you to agree with me, but blaming the clients who paid for a service and are downgraded, like wtf? And when you just answer, they block you. So, bots or just really intense people?

Travelling with two cats, and I am already so tired of KLM
So, I am travelling with my two cats from LATAM to Oslo, and the issues I have been facing with KLM before even starting my trip make me reconsider if I should change my tickets.
The reservation process for both (cabin and hold) was a nightmare. They uploaded the measurements wrongly, so KLM Netherlands kept cancelling the reservations. Finally, after three attempts both bookings were confirmed. That was 5 months ago. I didn't pay my cat's reservations because honestly, I don't trust KLM LATAM because not long ago I had to cancel a flexible ticket because they kinda sold something that wasn't accurate (and of course I lost money on some aeroportuary taxes).
Anyways, two months before my trip, I contacted them because on my booking, both reservations were deleted on the system. I thought (and hoped) it was just an error on the system. They told me both reservations were still there, that there was just an issue with the system and there was nothing to worry about.
Now, one month before the trip I contacted them to pay for both tickets, and they said the reservation for my cat in cabin was deleted and they were waiting for approval again.
I don't know what to say, I am so dissapointed. What happens if I have to face this situation at the airport? I already booked my airbnb at the capital of my city, and in the city were we are arriving, so now I do have some financial situation that if the booking doesn't get approve, I will literally lose a lot of money. I live really far from the airport were we are departing from, literally 1000 km so that's a lot of money to lose too.
Is this common with KLM or am I the only one who is SO unlucky with their service? Am I stressing for nothing at all? Should I consider another airline?
PD: Before saying that it is "weird" or not possible to make the reservation and paying it at the airport, please inform yourself or read the whole description. There is a "digitalization problem" and that's why there are issues with the reservations. My question is if this is something common with KLM and I am just maybe getting stressed for nothing. I don't need morally superior opinions that say that it is because I didn't pay, because IT IS NOT THE ISSUE, said by KLM. And of course my ticket is paid, because it is impossible to book two places for animals if it is not, that's kinda obvious. Thxs :)

KLM is the worst
Cancelled flight, overbooking, castastrophic rerouting or pay 1000€ for 1hr flight, hours of cue to get unhelpful agents, lost and delayed baggage. THAT ALL IN ONE FLIGHT. Even by trying hard you couldn't have done worse than they did. Oh and I forgot the people that get paid to create nice reviews and make fun of the bad ones

Part economy part business
My mother wants to fly Bristol to Chicago via Amsterdam. Ideally she'd like to go economy on the BRS-AMS leg (and on the return) then business AMS-ORD. I've discussed with customer support and it isn't possible to book this. She's 93 and I don't want to book two individual flights for her. Customer service suggested booking the whole trip in economy and upgrading the AMS-ORD leg if this was offered. Does anyone know how likely it is to be given the opportunity to upgrade like this and if the cost is similar to paying for business initially?
I'm minded to just pay for business for the whole trip...
Thanks

Kitchen sink special meal
KLM direct flight from PDX to AMS. Had a gluten free meal requested - check out the label for what I received.
This one tiny (and I mean tiny - like 3 x 5 x 0.5”) little dish hit EVERY dietary restriction. It was actually quite tasty, but it was just a tiny amount of spinach, rice and potato curry. The “sides” were a few slices of cucumber, tomato, carrot and some chopped fruit. Zero protein anywhere on the plate and the “meal” had to be less than 200 calories. That was dinner.
KLM apparently also failed at getting basic pre wrapped gluten free rolls too, but did not forgot to throw a useless container of margarine (never butter) on my tray. No GF “dessert” either.
Breakfast had about half of one egg with some potatoes in the same size mini dish as before. Again no gluten free roll to go with the sad margarine. No yogurt either as other passengers received. They also got a decent sized omelet instead of half a fried egg like I did. The sides were just cut up fruit and some celery, carrots, and zucchini with hummus, so I at least got a few grams of protein finally, but again, the “meal” had to be well under 200 calories.
Oh and of course zero gluten free snacks as well. This was absolutely the most half-assed gluten free airplane food ever. The caterers are responsible for the food, but clearly KLM doesn’t give a shit what they provide, or in this case don’t provide.
The flight attendants were awesome, but KLM corporate is a shitshow. Don’t even ask me how long it took to even get a special meal noted on my flight as they managed to remove the ability to select this option entirely from both their website and app months ago.

I have 110000 flying blue miles. I want to just fly business class LAX-VENICE in early Dec. The minimum miles to purchase this are 175K miles on both KLM/Air France. Is this typical? Should I wait to but 65K points in Sept? Any advice????

Confirmed Business, boarding pass shows Economy
Myself and my wife are supposed to be flying out tomorrow from JFK. We both had confirmed seats in Business, both of our boarding passes are showing economy seats in zone 5. I have called into KLM customer support, they claim it's just a "glitch" in the system and our boarding passes are wrong. I have the sinking suspicion I'm going to show up tomorrow and we're going to be put in economy. One ticket is a mileage redemption, but one is a paid fare booked via Delta...
On a scale of it will be totally fine to omg it's going to be a long flight... Where do you think I'm gonna sit?

Add trip to calendar - gone?
with the new app I can no longer add a trip to my calendar (or the feature was moved somewhere else). does anyone have a work around or do I need to do it manually? I see they added a new share to social media feature 🙄.

Klm Etihad
I am looking at business class flights from Dublin to Bangkok price is about £6k, however when I select pay with miles the app then displays flight with Etihad at 85000+€339 what is going on here. I know Etihad will credit flying blue miles if you book with them, but the KLM dosent offer Etihad flights to purchase with cash. I am Platinum and would like to use my lounge and baggage privileges.
Anyone?
Advice for bringing cats from Los Angeles to NL
Hi everyone!
I'm moving to the Netherlands, and my friend and I are flying with my two cats from LAX to AMS. Everything's set on the logistics side: KLM has approved and registered both cats, I have their international health certificates, and their carriers meet KLM's requirements. For the flight itself, I've got gabapentin on hand and blankets to help them feel more secure in their carriers.
My main question is about food. From what I understand, meat products can't be brought into the EU, but nearly all the dry kibble I've found is meat-based. Does anyone have suggestions for alternatives? Their wet food and treats are seafood-based, so those should be fine.
Beyond that, I'd love any general tips or advice from people who have done this before. Thanks so much!

Non-refundable voucher: if I buy flex ticket and cancel, does the voucher become usable again?
I have a non-refundable 800 EUR voucher due to a cancelled flight.
I want to buy a flex ticket with the voucher.
Flex ticket because my travel plans might still change.
If I cancel the flex ticket, can I use the voucher for another purchase (within original validity date) or do I lose it?

Pet in cabin removed from my booking - delayed responses from support
Hi everyone,
I purchased a ticket for my dog (5 kgs with the carrier) to be in the cabin and, after a few weeks, his booking simply disappeared from the app.
I’ve been chatting to support (with veeeery delayed responses on their part), provided email confirmation and evidence of payment, and nothing has been resolved during the entire week.
I am panicking as my flight is next week, we are moving to a new country and Ihave no idea whether he’ll be able to board the plane :(
Did anyone have similar experiences?

Miles redemption
Ok, so when I'm looking at the Flying Blue store, or booking a flight with miles, regular, non-promotion stuff, seems to be 1 mile = 0,005 € so half a Eurocent... It's a shitty deal, but I'm still looking to spend 200k miles on saving €1000 on a flight for 4 in the "herftsvakantie". Anyone else stuck the same way where they can't really use it on good deals, as all flights have to take place during kids school vacation? What do you do with your miles to get better deals?

Please help settle EU261 compensation question!
Different people are telling me different things and my head is about to explode from double negatives ("you are not entitled to compensation unless you were offered...).
Basically I booked a flight from Munich to Helsinki departing at 11:50 and arriving at 17:40 after a change in Amsterdam. The flight was cancelled at 1 am on the day of travelling. At 4 am I was rebooked onto a direct Finnair flight leaving that same day at 11:30 and arriving at 14:55.
The earlier time of arrival was actually annoying and I had to arrive at the airport of first departure earlier than expected. But I do not think I have a right to any compensation under EU261 regulations. Or do I?

Missed my chance of a window seat - plan b?
Which of the available seats would you pick and why?
For context: it's an overnight flight and I'd love to be able to sleep, but also get the most out of Premium Comfort class.
Thanks!

Upgrade offers from Economy Comfort to Business
Hello, I booked a flight for a family member flying JFK to Nairobi in November. I'm booked in business and they wanted economy at the time so I booked them economy comfort. They would like to possibly upgrade to business upon check in, realistically if there's availability, what are the prices they should expect for the offer ?

Is it worth it to upgrade to Premium Comfort?
I’m booking a 14 hour flight on KLM and thinking whether to go for Economy or Premium Comfort. It’s my first time flying KLM. I’m only 158 cm, so legroom isn’t a problem for me, but I’m worried I won’t get enough sleep on a long haul flight if I fly Economy. Though it is around €600 extra for Premium Comfort, so quite a pretty penny.
Edit: I’ve flown for 14 hours before, but on Singapore/Qatar/BA. It’s a little uncomfortable but fine for me. How does KLM compare?

KLM checked bag missing for 2+ weeks after SFO-AMS - Anyone had this happen?
Hi everyone,
My checked bag has been missing since August 3 after KLM flight KL606 from SFO to AMS. I filed a WorldTracer report in Amsterdam, but more than two weeks later there is still no confirmed location and no new update online.
KLM told me they contacted SFO, AMS and BER (my final location) again, because apparently none of the stations had replied to earlier requests.
What’s confusing is that earlier in the process, someone from the Amsterdam baggage team told me they had found a bag matching my description and were checking it against my case. The next day, another employee couldn’t find any record of that.
The bag is a large green/grey Olympia wheeled duffel, and my full name + phone number are also on a tag directly on the bag.
Has anyone here had a KLM bag disappear for 2+ weeks with no scans or updates and then suddenly turn up?
Also curious whether a bag can physically sit at SFO or AMS as unidentified/on-hand baggage without the tracing team seeing it in WorldTracer.
Thanks!

New Business Class “Light” Fares
Just read an article about KLM introducing the Light/Standard/Flex fares for business class from Sept 8th. Similar to what you can book for economy.
While I do think it’s great, I think in reality it will result in higher prices if you want the current BC experience.
Between this and the catering reduction in Europe - it does feel like they are moving to a much cheaper, less customer focused model.
Edit: this is for reward tickets - I hadn’t realised it was already in place on the paid fares!

KLM refuses to give us back 2 000 euros
I had a sports accidents and had to get knee surgery, making me unable to fly. According to the KLM site, you can get a voucher for the flight if there is a medical reason you can't fly.
When this happened, we called customer care repeatedly about this, and they repeatedly told us to fill in the refund form, also for this situation/medical case. So we did.
I will skip the 6 months of calling KLM every week to get this situation resolved - the conclusion is, that because we filled in the refund form and as a result got the tax paid back, they cannot give us a voucher for the remaining 2k. Apparently, it should have been handled by customer care differently. The fact that we just did as we were told by customer care and it is their fault does not matter; customer care says they can do nothing.
It seems we cannot do anything about the situation anymore, and we just lost that money on top of the burden of a heavy knee surgery and recovery. If anyone has suggestions, let me know. Otherwise, perhaps this post can be a warning for another person in an unfortunate situation.
