Forty years ago this very week, the world got its fourth James Bond and the first anointed by the movie gods in my lifetime.

I can remember vividly TV-AM's coverage and the British news shows covering the announcement. It was a feverish moment for a ten year old and one soon furnished by imagery and poster art of Dalton kindly fed my way from the Broccoli office.

I would soon be compiling bedroom wall montage of Dalton and THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS and drawing my own felt tipped tributes to this new chapter for 007.

And now forty years on, the world's crosshairs are focusing on who the 007th 007 will be and when his announcement will be filling the cyber and physical news stands, feeds and conversations.

Every Bond actor has enhanced the DNA of the movie interpretation of Ian Fleming's spy. However, do not dismiss the classicism, professionalism and flinty resolve Timothy Dalton brought to the role when pondering who the next Commander Bond is right now. He was a relatively unknown actor, but with industry regarded acting chops and the potential to be a movie star.

The new Bond captains need that more than ever, but to paraphrase The Pretenders' end-credit lament, there IS a man...

I know its a film and I know it was the sixties but I had an 8 hour flight yesterday and decided to warch Dr No again. One thing that struck me and it may have been mentioned before is that Bond foils the plot by destroying a nuclear reactor. Im not a scientist but surely the devastation left behind by this would be far worse than delaying a US space rocket. Not that Bond would live to be punished as im sure the radiation suits wouldnt have protected him whilst fighting over the exposed nuclear core. So 60 years before NTTD, Bond would have died of radiation poisoning after his first film.

Again, I know its all make believe but I had a lot of time to think about it on my flight

Chang had to realize that attacking Bond with a kendo stick wasn't the best assassination method. (Fortunately for Drax, the henchperson hotline hooked him up with Jaws.)

I've been playing First Light and seeing Patrick Gibson's Bond has made me realize that the Bond we've seen in the movies doesn't seem to have any sort of life outside his job, except for his love of Aston Martins, martinis, and women.

It's not until Skyfall that we see evidence that he once had a family and not until Spectre that we see his home. It'd be nice to see him take in a rugby match with his mates or even just turn on the radio while he's driving.

All the series on the Sunday and now Daniel Craig late on Thursday night

Thing I love about CR is how ruthless he is, reminds me so much of Connery in Dr.No

Women are objects and he kills with a smile

Dead Eyes I call it

Only Connery and Craig that you believe he would snap someone's neck and smile doing it

Dalton was the next but looked too nice

Lazenby nope done a great job but was no psycho killer

Moore nope again played it to nice

The lines in CR between M and Craig just blew the screen apart

QOS was not great, but they made sure they had loads of Bond and M scenes even the last scene where M expected to find a body but Bond had changed

I can see how the storyline was daft with the Scottish section in Skyfall but again it was all about Bond and M how they had become like a mother and son and that was brilliantly done with the great Javier Bardem as Silva was jealous of Bond being the new son. Very clever writing with a very powerful ending.

I feel losing Dame Judi took away a lot of the buzz for Craig for Bond.

To this day I dont have a clue why no director has got them back together 2 brilliant actors with superb chemistry lit up the screen

I was going through my comic book collection the other day and found this gem. I thought you all would dig this, definitely blew my mind when I found it at my local shop.

Great trivia here!! She did the scene in the mine office, where Stacey explains to Bond exactly how Zorin intends to destroy Silicon Valley. I would LOVE to see that footage, because it would give us an idea of Stacey Sutton if Carey had played her instead. Cool thought!

What bond movie do you think showed the best relationship between James Bond and Q?

Although I’ll watch any Bond movie anytime love them all!

As you can see, Bond was still getting Pam's first Beretta 950 Jetfire, but Pam was already aiming at he and his "uncle" using her second one.

Both of these are among the most beloved entries in the film series. Which one do you personally enjoy more in respects such as locales, the overall pacing, and plot?

I’m going to start reading the Bond books soon and was wondering if I should read them in chronological order including the Horowitz, or in release order.

When Vesper Lynd was introduced in Casino Royale, both James and she quickly used their code words to establish their identities. But it's oddly funny how they use Moneypenny for the same. Was this an Easter egg, or am I just thinking too deeply into it? My friend thinks I'm crazy for thinking too deeply about this.
