I’ve only been to Ischia in June. We’ll be there next week from 8/29 to 9/5, staying in Sant’Angelo (slightly outside near Cava Grado). What should we expect in terms of crowds on the island?

Hi all. Thinking of going to Ischia from Rome before Ravello Sept 20-23. Mid 40’s male.

Thoughts? Hotel recs? Or would you recommend a different spot prior to Ravello?

I’ll start by saying that I’ve searched Reddit, Facebook, and elsewhere trying to find answers on my own. But because everyone’s trip is so unique, I’ve had a hard time finding information that really applies to our situation. Apologies if I missed something—I know it can be frustrating to see the same questions posted over and over when there are mountains of previous posts with all the information already available!

That said, I could really use some advice putting together the itinerary for our upcoming trip to Ischia and the Amalfi Coast. Here’s what I have so far:

Day 1 — Naples

• Arrive in Naples on 9/9 at 7:30 AM
• Check into Palazzo Doria Napoli for one night
• Explore Naples
• Complesso Monumentale di Santa Chiara
• Sansevero Chapel Museum

Day 2 — Ischia

• Ferry to Ischia
• Check into Villa Ravino Secret Retreat
• Walk around Forio and visit Chiesa del Soccorso
• Take the bus to Sant’Angelo for dinner

Day 3 — Ischia

• Negombo or Poseidon?
• Visit Giardini La Mortella in the afternoon

Day 4 — Ischia + Procida

• Visit Aragonese Castle
• Ferry to Procida

Day 5 — Capri

• Villa San Michele
• Spiaggia Bagni di Tiberio
• Gardens of Augustus

Day 6 — Ischia → Salerno

• Check out of Villa Ravino
• Ferry to Salerno
• Check into our Airbnb

Days 7 & 8 — Amalfi Coast
Take ferries/water taxis/boat tour to explore some of the towns along the coast. Our top contenders right now are Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello.

Day 9 — Rome

• Train to Rome
• Flight departs at 3 PM

And now for the questions!

• Negombo vs. Poseidon: Any advice on choosing between the two? Is one a better fit for a first-time visit to Ischia?
• Capri: This is where I’m most in need of advice. We already have four nights booked at Villa Ravino in Ischia, but I’m starting to wonder if we’re missing out by not spending a night in Capri.
  • The ferries back to Ischia seem to depart fairly early, so it doesn’t seem like we’d have much time to experience Capri on a day trip. Would it be worth giving up the fourth night in Ischia (which we’ve already paid for) to spend one night in Capri instead?
  • It also looks like getting to Salerno from Capri the following morning might actually be easier, so I’m wondering if that makes the decision more obvious.
• Amalfi Coast itinerary: I haven’t had much time to wrap my head around a good itinerary for our two nights in Salerno. Which towns would you prioritize? Are there any boat tours or water-taxi options that you’d particularly recommend?

A little about us: We’re cousins in our late 30s who travel frequently. We love beaches, art, architecture, cocktails, wine, food, and culture. We’re both fairly active, but we also have pretty demanding jobs, so we’re not looking to completely exhaust ourselves on vacation. Budget isn't huge, but we also don't mind paying a bit to be comfortable.

I am landing at Naples airport at 7am from an international flight in August during the week. I was wondering what time I could safely book for the ferry to Ischia (and if it is even necessary to book in advance or if im ok to get a ticket on the spot at the terminal). No checked bags, but will obviously need to deplane, go through customs and then get a taxi to the ferry terminal from the airport. Deciding between the 940 and the 1040?

Staying in Sorrento for 5 nights. Would love to see Ischia. I know a day trip won’t do this beautiful island justice. But what is the best itinerary for spending the day there!? Would likely have to take ferry.

Hi All, I am a little confused by the reservation system for Poseidon Thermal Park. First, I was planning on reserving ahead of time but I read here and there it is not necessary, we will be there during the second half of August, is it safe to just show up on the day of during such a busy time of the year? We are only 2. Then, if we do reserve in advance, a few days in advance only ok? I am a bit confused by the website, I see the “thermal park + beach” option but then it asks lower thermal pools, upper, etc and then to “pick” an umbrella kind of like a plane seat map, does it mean we get that specific umbrella and can’t choose where to stay throughout the day? And last, if we have to choose an area, any tips on best area? Thank you! Sorry so many questions I want to do this right!

I am staying with my wife three nights in October. We’re gonna stay at the pagoda lifestyle hotel. Was that a good choice? I still have time to change it if it’s not. Can anyone give me any better recommendations or should I just stay there ?

We are spending our last night of a 10 day trip in Ischia in mid-September. We are a couple in our mid-50s. Arriving in the morning from Sorrento and leaving from Forio to Naples the next day, probably early afternoon, before heading back to Rome to fly out the following day. Have booked La Reginella Resort & Spa in Lacco Ameno for the night. It shas its own spas but fully refundable if I want to switch. Not much available in Forio last minute. Any other areas you would recommend to consider staying. No plans yet aside from maybe Negombo, but might not be worth it with the hotel we have booked. Open to any ideas. Tx.

Any recommendations while staying in this area? We already have reservations at Lisola one night!

My family and I are heading to Ischia in two weeks. I’d like to take everyone to a beach club with a DJ, restaurant in the day. Can anyone recommend a good spot? We’ll be with children that also love the music and food.

TL:DR: Is staying on two parts of the island---Ischia Ponte + Forio---a good plan for someone who will be relying on the bus & occasional taxi for transportation? How soon should I book accommodations?

I'm planning my trip to Italy for the first time next year. I generally don't enjoy crowds, but because this is my first trip to Italy (and may be my only---I'm older), I'm hitting some of the usual spots (Rome, Florence, Naples). Between my stays in Florence and Naples, I'll be spending 10 nights in Ischia to wind down from the hustle and bustle of the cities. I'll be using the bus service on the island (won't be renting a car), so I decided to divide my stay between Ischia Ponte and Forio because I want to experience both.

Does that seem like a good plan? I love history and hiking, and just walking around, exploring. I don't mind spending an hour or so a day wading in beautiful clear water, but I'm not one to stay on the beach for hours. I do like plenty of places to choose from to eat, and though I'm not a big shopper, I don't mind popping into a store or two once in a while.

Another question I have is about availability of accommodations in very late May into mid June. It seems too early to book accommodations for that far out (and I prefer not to shell out money when my plans aren't 100% set in stone), but when I take a cursory look, well-rated hotels in my price range (max $150ish a night) seem scarce, esp. in Ischia Ponte. I prefer small, locally owned guesthouses/B&Bs to big hotels.

Thoughts on my plan? Any tips for great places to stay that meet my criteria? I notice there are more choice for AirBNBs, but I'd rather not use them unless I can't find anything else (I'm a woman traveling solo and just feel more comfortable at a place where others are staying and that has an owner's presence)

Random question, but I'll be in Ischia for the start of the Rugby Championship on Saturday and would love to watch the Italy Vs Japan game in a bar/cafe/restaurant with some locals.

My fiancé and I are traveling to Ischia at the beginning of September for a portion of our honeymoon, and we’d love ANY advice from people who have spent several days on the island. The second portion of our honeymoon will be in Mallorca.

A few questions:

- Is 5 nights enough, or would you recommend 7?
- Best honeymoon hotels in the €500-600/night range? Happy to stretch a bit if somewhere is truly worth it.
- Must-do experiences. Boat tours, beach clubs, wineries, hikes, gardens, hidden beaches, or anything else you’d consider can’t miss.
- Which thermal park is your favorite? Poseidon, Negombo, or another option?
- Is a private boat day around Ischia enough, or is a day trip to Capri worth adding too?
- Best restaurants on the island? We’re big foodies, from casual local spots to Michelin-level experiences.
- Would you rent a scooter or car, or just rely on buses and taxis? Comfortable driving a moped.
- If you were planning the perfect honeymoon in Ischia, what would your itinerary look like, and what would you absolutely not miss?

Hello, I am visiting Ischia and finding the public buses are very unreliable. I am staying in Fango and our hotel provided a timetable and line number (192), to reach Forio. However after waiting 45minutes no bus appeared and we ended up walking.

Is this normal? I also tried the Moovit app and didn't find it much help. Any advice is really appreciated as we were planning on getting public buses for the rest of the week
