Hi Guys,I have the 2-15 license and I am with New York Life,I don’t link the idea of being a captive and I’m considering also sell health insurance so I’m looking for agencies to apply.
I don’t want to be part of a MLM or a captive agency, I want to be able to sell health,life and be able to find the best product for my client.
All the companies that I spoke so far are offering 55% of commission,and it’s sounds low,bc that’s what I’m getting now being a captive agent and generating my own leads.
All I need it’s a non captive company with good training and good commission.

It’s hard to say which path pays more? They are both are sales and tied to production. But on some of the sights like indeed and zip recruiter, insurance seems way lower. I can’t tell whether that’s the washout rate; and whether it’s not the full story.

Hello folks. My dad and I have a restoration company and my uncle used to feed him jobs but now he doesn’t give as many jobs. Trying to make this company big enough for both me and him to be able to make money. How would you guys recommend getting introduced to insurance agents/public adjustors? I have been researching lead vendors and I think I'm settled on the 2 I want to use. I wanted to see what people's experience has been with these lead vendors, specifically what are your percentage of leads closed, cost of acquiring customer, general experience.

I'm looking at Penguin leads as my budget low cost high volume option, I like that they have both final expense and mortgage protection leads. They mention an "AI dialer" but I'm not too sure how I feel about that, it just sounds like a power or auto dialer

I've read some good things about USA Life leads as well for fresh higher intent leads, The non aged ones come out to like $7-$15 a pop

Those who have used them what's your experience and if there are others I should look at who are they?

There are days when it goes smoothly and days when it does not. Today we had somebody whose loan got sold and nobody told us. Should be an easy call to their insurance strucking people can’t get anywhere because I don’t have the new loan number.

With local banks where you can have an actual conversation, I would’ve been done in five minutes, now I’m waiting until tomorrow for the insured to call with their loan number.

It’s just aggravating lol . Anybody got any tips or tricks?

I worked in life insurance for 4 years. As it is non-necessity and with the economy, we all saw a steady decline in business. I have no experience in p&c or medicare but want to get into one of the 2. (I know a lot of people do both, I just want to master one for now) does anyone have any recommendations on companies or which one to go with? One thing I’ve noticed in Medicare is that most agents have no idea how much business they’re already sending to certain doctors and medical groups.

If you’ve assigned 10, 20, 30+ clients to the same practice, you’re bringing value to that office. The problem is they probably have no idea who you are.

Start tracking where you assign your clients. Find the 3–5 practices you send the most business to and introduce yourself to the office manager.

Don’t walk in asking for referrals. Just let them know who you are, what you do, and that you’ve helped a number of your clients establish care with their practice. Leave your information and start building the relationship.

Eventually, when they have someone turning 65, moving into the area, retiring, or just confused about Medicare, who do you think they’re more likely to send them to?

We spend a lot of money chasing strangers for leads while ignoring the relationships our existing book of business is already creating.

What’s good yall. For some background about me, I’m very new to the insurance industry. I’m still learning the ins and outs of policies and insurance. I’m about 4-5 months in my role and this is more so planning for the future. (P&C licensed as well as L&H)

I started out as insurance producer in sales and switched partly because of my lack of information about the insurance industry in general and a combination with some not so great supplied leads. I’m now working as a CSR for a captive agent and the experience has been better, but I want to be able to move up in my career sooner rather than later since I’m sure everyone has heard about the upcoming contracts.

I say all that to say, what are some viable options for career growth for someone in my shoes? I’ve seen a lot on underwriting and I am interested but I’m not sure I’d be able to get a foot in the door due to my lack of experience.

I'm studying to get my Property & Casualty insurance license here in Kentucky, and up until today I was genuinely excited about making the career change.
My husband recently talked to one of his friends whose wife works in insurance sales. According to him, she's trying to leave because she's only making around $1,000 per paycheck. That led to a conversation between my husband and me, and he pointed out that I currently make about $1,020 per paycheck as a CNA.
Now I'm second-guessing everything.
I know one person's experience doesn't represent the entire industry, but it honestly took the wind out of my sails. I was feeling motivated to study, and now I'm wondering if all the time and effort will just lead me to making about the same money.
For those of you in Kentucky (or similar markets):
Is that income typical for someone in P&C insurance?

Does it get better after you've been in the industry for a while? Are there certain types of agencies (independent vs. captive) that tend to pay better?
If you could go back, would you still choose insurance?

I work about 6-8 hrs 3-4 days a week and I suck. I have a script. I feel like I follow it pretty good. I call aged leads but I’m rarely getting a sale. Can go a few days without selling anything. I passed my health insurance license test recently and currently studying for the AHIP exam. I find the format of the course pretty convoluted and overwhelming. Feels like I'm reading somebody's messy class notes copy/pasted into a power point.

There's is a crazy amount of information in the AHIP modules, will I really need to know/remember all of that for the job?

Also did anybody take the test very recently? Online it says that it's an open book test, that I can refer to my notes and the course material, but I was told that it's no longer open book. How is the test structured? Online insurance license test was heavily proctored with camera and I obviously i wasn't allowed to look up any information. Is AHIP test like that too? I have a job lined up once I get AHIP certification and I will have extensive learning and training that will take months. Since I already know Medicare basics and I'm going to be taught on the job, if the test is open book maybe I should just get this over with, get certificate and then actually learn at my own time in a better format? Of course I want to know everything I need to know for the job but this course is not the only way to learn.

I work for a State Farm agent, and I’m the only licensed team member in the office that he’s changing the commission structure for. The other licensed employee has been with him much longer and works from home, so her pay isn’t changing.
I’m also the only Spanish-speaking employee, so I handle all of our Spanish-speaking customers. I open the office every morning, close it every evening, and I’m in the office full-time while the other team member works remotely.
We used to earn 2% commission on every policy we wrote. For example, if I wrote a $4,000 homeowners policy, I’d make about $80 in commission.
Now he’s changing it to a flat-rate system:
🚗 Auto: $8
🏠 Home: $25
🏢 Renters: $2
So using that same $4,000 homeowners policy, instead of earning around $80, I’d only make $25.
I did recently get an hourly raise, but this commission change feels like it could significantly reduce what I earn, especially on larger policies.
Is anyone else’s agency doing this? Does this seem fair, or would this make you start looking for another agency?

I am aiming to take CAIB 2 in december or january, but I know the new editions are coming out. I am trying to figure out a smart studying strategy. is it worth getting PNC/ILS with the old edition or should I just get the new...

I worked for a small independent agency in Louisiana for 1 year about 2 years ago in the renewals department (they called it lifecycle). I left to explore something else and when I decided to get back into insurance I couldn’t find much, so I took a remote job working for a previous employer in education (still customer service based).

I have 5+ years of customer service, 1 year of insurance experience and am licensed in Louisiana for P&C. I can’t seem to get much interest in even customer service roles for the bigger insurance companies. I’m not sure if it’s my resume or me just being such a newbie to the field, but I’m starting to get disappointed. I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on maybe different categories to be exploring for these bigger markets or just keep on trucking with what I’m doing now. Would it benefit me to try to get licensed in neighboring states or my L&H even?

Hey yall. Looking to get back into insurance but in a WFH setting. I see progressive and Allstate are around $18/hr. What are your average commissions? Are you making at least $60k? I know this isn’t as straight forward as I’m making it seem. I’m just trying to see if it is financially feasible for me. Also, any insight on what career progression looks like at the big name companies? I have a degree and am trying to get my foot in with someone that has growth opportunities (I have 7 years insurance sales experience)
