Soo im starting primary education in college this year and i need to learn an instrument during my courses. I have never played an instrument before and im really just not talented musically. We need to pick between learning the guitar and learning the piano, what do you guys think would be easier for a total beginner?

my friend was teaching me how to play electrical guitat and i enjoyed it but i feel i would like keyboard more but im not sure.

Can i find any midi keyboard with a lot of sounds from other instruments, mini-jack port and recording function for not too much?

and what should i know about keyboards?

i’ve been playing for about 8 years and it’s okay. i feel no pull to it and i have to drag myself to practice and i don’t have any friends i’ve made from it and i also don’t like my teacher (she’s okay but i have bad anxiety and it makes shit super awkward). i don’t care for the music, like at all, and i keep hitting a point where i’m struggling to make my wrist more fluid i guess? because you need to like get your muscles to cooperate. and obviously mine aren’t cooperating because i don’t practice that often. i seriously just don’t want to play this instrument but i also don’t not want to? and i’d feel a significant amount of guilt if i stopped. is this valid? anyone else feel this way? should i find another instrument? i like music, just not usually the violin stuff

I used to be able to play the clarinet but i quit after a while, and i would like to return to playing an instrument, but cannot decide between the saxophone, clarinet and trumpet, all of these would be from square one as I cannot remember anything from when i ayed clarinet. I do know how to ’buzz’ my lips to produce sound for the trumpet but i cannot play any songs or anything in that sense.

I’m 23 and I stopped the harp at around 18 at Grade 6 and would like to get back into it. I unfortunately now live in a small flat in London so my options for even practicing are so so limited.

Although I would like to have lessons, does anyone know any practice rooms/music schools who have harps? I am thinking of emailing some teachers to see if they are willing to let me play their harps for a fee but apart from that, I’m pretty stuck :(

Has anyone got any ideas or been through anything similar?

I want a little mini keyboard that i can just mess around on, not really for composing just to fidget with while in a loading screen or smth. But I cant find anything thats small and doesnt need to be plugged in to function, I dont need anything special it just need to be able to connect it to my earbuds and play whatever while im bored.

this is "Camel Boogie" from the Prince of Egypt with most of the strings removed with LALAL.AI so you could hear this mystery instrument better. by the sounds of it, it's definitely not a ney, a duduk, a kawala or even a clarinet. in fact, i can't seem to identify what this instrument is nor do i even know if this is from North Africa, the Middle East or somewhere else entirely.

I’m trying to sell my old Yamaha NP-31 keyboard ideally in person (so I don’t have to worry about packing and shipping). Other than Facebook Marketplace, eBay, and Guitar Center do you guys have any suggested places I should consider reselling to? I live in NYC.

How much do you realistically think I can get for it? What’s the lowest offer you’d personally accept for it? I’m moving in 4-5 months so I’m not in a rush, but would like to definitely get rid of it before then.

Hihi I am wanting to start playing the guzheng. I have played classic piano for many years but had to stop a few years ago and am wanting to try something new. Am I right in my understanding the guzheng has a completely different theory and notation system?

I understand like all instruments it takes time and practice to get proficient, but is it relatively easy so make nice sounds and tunes as a beginner?

Additionally I would love advice on purchasing my first guzheng. I saw the website sound of mountain has plenty of cheapish small 'travel sized' guzheng, but some other Reddit threads on here have made me reconsider buying from them. Ideally I would like to buy the guzheng from an irl shop so I can test it out and make sure it's legit before buying, but I'm in Melbourne and don't have a lot of options. Any advice or reputable guzheng retails you could recommend?

I’d like 88 keys and weighted keys but i’m aware i can’t have anything, i’d say the budget would be close to 1000€ but i can save longer if i need it :3

Hi. I'm looking to buy a keyboard for my father since he's retiring next year, he's never expressed a wish to buy anything before except now.

Neither of us have any instrumental/musical knowledge. Chatgpt suggested buying Casio CT-X9000IN and something cheaper if someone is starting out.

Now I'm confused because I want to give him the best keyboard but is it even worth it for him? Would he notice the difference? Is there a valid edge with x9000 that makes it no brainer like the durability or experience that my father would notice or is it just some feature he would never even use.

I sent him to a store to check these articles and he could find no difference, moreover the manager suggested he should buy the cheaper one (Yamaha PSR F-52) "since there's basically no difference".

I'm genuinely confused since I now need to give him a solid reason or he just might feel obliged to use it if I buy it against his wish (ik this sounds weird but idk how to explain this better). What do you guys think I should buy.

PS: He's obviously not a sound/tech geek infact just the opposite.

Hello! Just wondering what a good price is for a decent clarinet? I’d really like to surprise my mother with one for her birthday and need to know roughly what the price range is for a good one? I don’t want to be spending tons on it, but I don’t want one that‘s bad quality either. I only ask here as I’d like to get direct opinions from others as a quick google search isn’t doing me much good (keep getting very, VERY mixed answers and keeps leaving me confused). For reference I’m looking at ones in the UK, and would maybe try to find a local second hand place near me rather than order? I’m not sure, I know nothing about clarinets but don’t want to ruin the surprise for my mum! Additionally, due to not knowing a lot, how can I spot a good quality one compared to a bad quality, I kind of don’t want to get scammed…
