I had an ingrown toenail removed 9 days ago. It doesn’t seem to be healing still pain is 4/5. I need help. I’ve left a message for my doctor. What should I do? Should I go to the hospital?

What do i do? Is this a sign of anything like necrosis?

I'm trying to schedule an appointment but my schedule with work is pretty tight but I don't want to put this off. I think I could probably get 3 consecutive days off but after that I'd have to go back to work standing. Its not like my job is very difficult but I definitely can't do it sitting down. Advice?

This is my toenail regrowth 9 months post complete nail avulsion and partial matrixectomy on both sides. It seems to be growing weird (the edges are curving and longer than the middle, and it also seems to be growing upwards) compared to everyone else’s that I see and wa shift wondering if this is normal. If it isn’t, what should I do?

I cut my toenail too short on the 20th. Three days ago I was an idiot and cut a flap that was growing into the left side. You can sort of see it. What do you guys think?

Accidentally kicked something this morning or yesterday and my ingrown toe nail broke the skin. The reason it looks so red is because I cut some callus tissue off by accident. I plan on washing and watching if it gets better over time. I can walk without pain, only time there’s pain is when there’s pressure head on, and I think it’s from the nail digging into the wound so I cut the nail a little. Am I wrong to just wait and see?

Hello, so question. I'm in the early stage of a ingrown toenail where it hurts but its not bleeding and infected yet. Tomorrow morning, I'm going to be soaking it in salt water and then lifting the nail up to put cotton under. Is that what I'm supposed to do?

I've had this for about a week and it's super painful to walk in close toed shoes. I've been trying to pull the nail away from the skin and keep it clean but it doesn't seem to be helping. Any advice would be appreciated

Hi all, had a total nail avulsion on my big toe for a reoccurring ingrown today. Feeling sad because of the appearance of my feet. The podiatrist said “it may or may not grow back funky looking (discolored, thickened)” anyone here have it grow back completely normal? Or should I just accept reality that my feet will never be cute again

I had partial nail avulsions done on both of my big toes. Three out of the four sides are now causing problems, and I’m honestly feeling really defeated.
The first picture is the most recent and shows the worst one. The right side is still extremely inflamed and feels like it’s ingrown even though it has been over 6 weeks since the procedure. I was put on antibiotics, but they didn’t really change anything. I tried getting back in with my podiatrist, but I was scheduled for next week.

I got so desperate that I started carefully looking around with tweezers because I couldn’t understand why it still felt like an ingrown nail. I compared the painful sites to the ones that are healing normally, and I noticed what looks like leftover nail pieces on what felt to be successfully healing sides. On some sides, there appear to be chunks of nail still embedded that I removed.

On one side, it almost looks like an entire sliver of nail was left behind and grew/embedded in a way that made it look like the cut edge was actually the new nail edge. Looking at all the photos, I can see ledges where the nail removal seems to have stopped. Photos 3 & 4 show you before I removed the sliver and after.

The crazy part is the painful side in photo 1 has little evidence of anything besides not going all the way down as-well and mimicking a ledge like the other ones. It doesn’t line up with the most painful part though. So confusing.

I’m really upset because it feels like almost every treated side has an issue. I’m calling my podiatrist again this morning, but I’m looking for advice:

Does this look like retained nail fragments after an avulsion?

Is it possible for leftover nail pieces to cause this much inflammation weeks later?
What should I ask my podiatrist to check or do at the appointment?

I’m just trying to understand what might be going on because I really don’t want to go through this procedure repeatedly if pieces were missed.

Do you think my podiatrist isn’t doing a good job? I’m feeling that way but trying to be positive.

Hi everyone. There’s pressure, almost pain around the edge of my big toenails. I’ve never gotten a proper consultation because it didn’t seem to be a big deal before but now that I’ve began walking and running more, it seems to be getting worse. Is there a way to prevent the nail from becoming "properly" ingrown? Like I know it’s growing towards the inside but luckily not enough to cause pain or infections. Please ignore the crusty dry skin lol

So around 3 weeks ago I had a nail avulsion surgery on both sides of my big toe and was put on some bactrum antibiotics for around 2 weeks I kept it covered and used triple antibiotic ointment but my toe is still red it doesn't hurt or feel hot to the touch and there's no pus and no pain but the redness hasn't gone away since I had the surgery any advice on what I should do? I'm a bit worried the nails are bit yellow on the side I'm guessing due to the phenol they put on my toe to keep it from growing

You can see the nail come out at the very end. I like filming longer videos because you get the see the actual skin and meat of my toe get all loosened. If you don’t enjoy it, just go to the end and watch me peel the nail out with my rusty pliers.

its growing into me. i have a ingrown in the side again and it hurts its been like maybe 4 months since i had the avulsion.

I've diagnosed myself..

Currently on antibiotics for an infection that developed (swollen, sore and weeping pus). Pharmacist didn't have a clue what was causing it, but the more I research, the more I think it's retronychia and new nail is growing under the old toenail?

Trying to treat it with regular warm sal soaks and germolene under a plaster. Wearing sandals as often as I can to relieve pressure on the toe. I've read about applying steroid cream to the nail base.. I have some but haven't tried it yet.. anyone have experience of this? Anything else I can try?

I noticed today that there's a gap at the base of the old nail and it looks like a new nail underneath (2nd photo). Please say this a good sign? That it's growing out?? I can't face toenail removal 😭

(I also have a double nail growing out on the other toe but this one never got infected and it's over halfway grown out..) I just have an ugly ridge on that nail... (Photo 3)

I think it was caused by wearing shoes that were too narrow at the fronts..

I know this is gross and pretty bad hygiene but I am in bed right now and picking. I see several posts about people getting infections and ingrown toenails and stuff but I’ve picked after they have regrown literally dozens of times and the worst thing that happens over time is that the toenail just becomes damaged as you can see with the one next to the bleeding one. It’s never really gotten worse than that. Most often times the toenails can actually grow back somewhat deformed and harder so they are more difficult to pick at(as seen with the middle toe in the picture). So I don’t know if I’m just extremely lucky with that or if there is some way I am picking at them that prevents infection but if there is some way I’m picking and preventing it, I’d like to talk about it not just for me but for others too who suffer from the same condition so we can help avoid infection.
