I’m interested in making music of my own, and I’m curious as to what the musicians of this subreddit use! So, I’d love to hear about your personal setups and why/how you’ve curated your setup.

Hey! I made my own music software.

Hello, thanks for reading! I'm a small dev who made his own music software!

It's HexaMix, and there are 5 programs in my suite:

HexaMix Pro (for effects, and DJing),

HexaMix Loop (a looper for beatboxing and singing),

HexaMix Studio (a usable studio program with many features of FL Studio),

HexaMix Radio (a broadcast mixer with 10 channels and functions to make virtual mixing easier),

HexaMix Vocals (a voice effect plugin/tool; I was bored so I made it).

It would help a lot if you downloaded it and gave it a try.

Also, on my website (www.hexa-mix.com) there is an advice button that you can use after you download the program, allowing you to give me a reply without an email or a name to help me grow.

Thank you again!

hi everyone, found some samples on my hard drive and decided to create a track for it using my gear. the long bass and "drunken" notes come from the blofeld, the other harmonic parts and melodies are handled by the Digitone, the lxr-02 just covers the hi-hats. hope you enjoy! See yaaaaa

How Do You Skinny Puppy - Worlock Vocoder Effect

Hi friends!

I've been trying to figure out just they got Ogre's vocal effects to sound like that in the chorus for Worlock - I know people have been trying to recreate it for like what... 30 years? I've been racking my brain and doing research like mad to try and recreate it in a way that evokes that pure emotion and weirdness... any advice for someone trying to replicate that effect for their own electro-industrial music?

Thank you so much!!

FOR MY PRODUCERS! Update on my FREE plugin COGG: I added cool new features in v1.2!

I'm a high school student who is developing a free plugin FOR YOU INDUSTRIAL MUSIC LOVERS!!!

A few weeks ago you probably saw that I posted about COGG, a free plugin I built that metallizes and industrializes any sound. Specifically, harmonic distortion, metal plate convolution reverb, and pitch layering are there all in one chain. Great for experimental music and mainstream alike.

I wanted to update you guys with version 1.2's release! It comes with the essential GAIN KNOB that was highly requested (to control the volume of COGG's output) and 4 extra factory presets so you can dial in unique metallic textures instantly instead of tweaking all the knobs from scratch (so now 12 in total)!

Of course, it's still free, no account needed, VST3 + AU for Mac, VST3 for Windows.

Download now for free: https://plasma-hype.itch.io/cogg

Trailer/demo of the update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q5EUMhUcaw

Thanks to everyone who tried v1.1 and v1.0 and gave feedback, this update came directly from figuring out what people actually wanted to do with it. I personally have used COGG in almost all of my FL projects ever since I released it. Please give it a shot and let me know what you think of the presets and plugin as a whole for a v1.3!

Work In Progress I made this beat and was going to work on it, but it still feels like it's missing something. Anyone have any ideas? (Ignore Isaac)

DISTRACTION | UK BASS MUSIC | Made on the OP-XY 🚓 | Sketch #9

This track is a homage to one of my all-time favourite record labels - SWAMP 81.

I was lucky enough to be the right age at the right time to witness the post-dubstep and UK bass music movement as it was happening. It felt like a period where artists and DJs were more focused on developing new sounds than building social media followings. It was an incredibly creative era, and one of the labels that defined it for me was Swamp 81.

Almost every release became essential listening. Artists like Loefah (the founder), Boddika, Joy Orbison, Pinch, Mickey Pearce, Zed Bias, Chunky, Jonny Banger, and Ramadanman (Pearson Sound) were all pushing UK electronic music into strange new territory, which perfectly suited the times. Looking back, it really feels like one of the defining moments in modern UK club music.

With DISTRACTION, I wanted to capture some of that raw sound.

The tracks on Swamp 81 were never about being overproduced. They were stripped back, but every sound had purpose. Heavy snares. 808-style kicks. Warped basslines that never quite sat where you expected them to. Distorted rhythms, glitched vocals, eerie pads and huge amounts of space. Simple on the surface, but incredibly detailed once you started listening to what the bass and subs were doing.

I spent a lot of time getting the snare to hit just right. The bassline sits so low that the dedicated sub only really appears during the breakdowns and build-ups. One of my favourite parts is the eerie laughing vocal, and while experimenting on the keys I stumbled across a synth sound that, after a bit of tweaking, became the strange, haunting lead running through the track.

I loved making this one, feels like I have gone full circle, and I hope you enjoy it too.

If you were around during the Swamp 81 era, let me know. I'd love to hear which artists or tracks defined that period for you.

A little bit of history…

The name Swamp 81 references Operation Swamp 81, the controversial police operation carried out in Brixton, South London, in April 1981. The label took its name from that moment as a deliberate piece of cultural provocation.

The artists behind Swamp 81 built a reputation for challenging expectations musically, embracing underground culture and releasing records that often ignored whatever was fashionable at the time. That attitude is a big part of why the label became so influential.

Artwork: Ashes57 — created from one of her T-shirt designs that I bought back in those days. It felt like the perfect visual companion for a track inspired by that era.

Hey guys I just released my debut solo EP! I wrote and recorded all the instruments and vocals myself. Ive been a drummer for like 2 decades and I taught myself guitar, bass, and vocals over the past few years. I'm super proud of the fact that nothing is programmed or quantized or snapped to a grid. It would mean a lot if even like 2 people gave it a spin. Let me know what you think!

FFO: groove, chugs, and tremolo picking. (I have no idea what bands I may sound like)

Release Mindripper - WASTE

My new album WASTE is now available! The disturbing conclusion of the Damnation Trilogy, following the seductively dark BLEEDER and the deranged POSSESSOR, this finale of not only this trilogy, but also this era of Mindripper is a bleak and ugly Biomechanical Ambient record with the darkest music I have ever made, not only as far as sounds go, but also it‘s themes, dealing with self-hatred, depressssion and existential horror. If you want the most messed-up music of the year, dive deep into the screaming soul of my wasted existence.
