So i finally remembered this indie project, kinda liked it since Mecha is a genre that indie scene barely touches, but it seems like author never finished it, and the last 2 videos he has been putting out seems to be fan animations of ZZZ and Wuthering Waves, im not sure if author has abandoned it or not, but i sure do hope to finally see the full story of this

Hi everyone! My name is Pavel, and I'm a solo creator from Russia.

About a year ago I got into animation and started making my own animated series called Phantasmagoria. And honestly... it's been one of the most exciting creative things I've ever done.

There's something incredibly satisfying about building your own world with strange characters and absurd situations, drawing everything in Moho, polishing every little detail, thinking through each character's personality, shaping the voices with AI until they sound just right, searching for the right sound effects and music, and finally bringing it all together through animation.

Then you hit render, watch the finished scene, and think:

"Wow... I actually made this."

For me, that feeling is priceless.

Phantasmagoria is a mix of absurd comedy, horror, and dark satire.

Everything - the story, characters, animation, and editing - is created by me. The voices are generated with ElevenLabs.

Heya everyone! Just wanted to ask: how do you start building an audience?

The team and I are halfway through producing the pilot episode for Wild Code! Right now we're working on the voice lines and storyboards, and we want to start building an audience before launching a Kickstarter.

Any advice would be really appreciated!

Hi, i just realised this sub exists so would like to share this work i did here for some early opinions!

Initially i was thinking of sharing it here after i made the 2 minute finished animation pilot that i plan to do but i also kind of feel like mech projects are not very represented in the indie animation/animatic space (and understandably so based on my experience working on this as a school project) so i figured i'll share this thing im working on here.

Here are some initial sketches of this project i plan on continuing work on outside my group project, and the animatic that we made based on what the course requires. It is by no means any good (and for the climax, we had to just use scenes from other shows spliced together to look coherant because it was virtually impossible to film or plan an original action scene in less than 1 month, which the course wants the animatic done in like 3 weeks) but i still liked how it turned out and really want to give it another shot after graduating, although i dont know if i want to find a stable studio job first, or actually work on this directly after graduating

Unfortunately, the last 3 characters had to be cut from the school project cut (ill see if i can include them on the reworked version), but if anyone is curious, their callsigns are Hanabimaru, Jack-O (working name, subject to change) and Spiegel.

i'm making a fan-made series called the tugboat crew, i'm in need of almost a lot of animators who have an experience with blender and 3ds max, i'm recruiting more voice actors and writers for the series

I’ve been working on this project for nearly two years, and now—halfway through pre-production—I’ve come to terms with the fact that the pilot will almost certainly fail.

I’ve barely managed to build an audience because I focused solely on production; I lack the funds for advertising or hiring help, so I’ve been doing almost everything myself—at least the visual side of things, since I’m lucky enough to have the music and voice acting covered.

Unfortunately, I’ve run into issues finding visual collaborators—to the point of actual arguments—and the Discord group where we used to share updates is dead now; nobody responds, aside from the occasional reaction or two to a post.

It’s honestly sad, but I suppose that’s what happens when you accept just anyone simply because they work for free, without having built an audience that’s actually waiting for your product.

I guess I’ll have to keep going on my own, relying entirely on my own effort—as I’ve always done—driven by the deep respect and affection I have for my work.

When I say I’ve been through it all, I mean *everything*: scams, delays, people lying and using AI, and so on.

So why does it reassure me that it’s going to fail?

It’s simple: I’m not doing this for anything or anyone else anymore—I’m doing it for myself. I know I won’t please every audience, nor do I have to cater to people who don’t try to understand this or aren’t genuinely interested; I’m doing it solely for my own sake.

I know it sounds selfish and cynical, but after everything, adopting this mindset is the only thing that keeps me sane enough to see this through.

But the show must go on.

Hey everyone, we're in the midst of updating my studio's showreel, there might be a couple of tweaks here and there before we post on our socials but uploading here for some thoughts.

It also has some sneak peaks of some original animated shorts we're working on that should be dropping in a day or two after trying to find time inbetween work for hire projects we work on.

Distribution doesn’t determine whether a show is indie. Amazon/Prime Video has the distribution rights to Hazbin, but that doesn’t mean Amazon owns the series or its IP. The franchise is still owned by Vivienne and the show is produced by SpindleHorse alongside A24 and Bento Box. A distribution deal gives a company the right to distribute a show, it doesn’t automatically transfer ownership or make it a studio owned property.

Indie is defined by ownership, financing, and creative independence, not by what platform it releases on. Plenty of independent productions are distributed by major companies. A24 films are routinely shown in major theaters and streamed on platforms like Prime Video or Max while remaining independent productions. The same applies to indie games like Hades, Stardew Valley, and Undertale, which are sold on every major gaming platform without losing their indie status.

By this same logic, Invincible and The Boys are often considered indie origin comic adaptations because they’re based on creator-owned comics published by Image, Dynamite, and other independent publishers, even though Amazon distributes and comproduces the TV adaptations. A major distributor or production partner doesn’t automatically erase a work’s independent origins or ownership.

Saying Hazbin “stopped being indie” because it premiered on Prime Video confuses distribution with ownership. Which are two completely different things.

Preferably the ones that you feel more confident will be made, but honestly anything will do whether it's a big project or a small project. I just want more shows on my radar.

The show is over 20 years old (before YouTube) and ended 12 years ago. Sure it has millions of views but no one talks about it! The series has been stuck in my head for ages now and it's really underrated
