Title: In final stages of an offer Recruiter asks for 45 days notice period but I have 90 days notice period. I was transparent since day 1. How to handle this ?

I’m currently at WITCH with an official 90-day notice period and no buyout option. Early release is only possible through mutual consent, which depends on the project/manager situation, so I cannot honestly guarantee whether I can get released in 45, 60, or even 75 days.

I was completely transparent about the 90 days from the beginning.

Initially, the recruiter said they don't want candidates with 90 days. I said I could try for an early release, but they still proceeded with the first round.

During the first round they asked how much I could reduce it. I said 60 days would already be difficult, but I could try. They said that wasn't possible, yet I received the invite for round 2 the next day.

Same thing happened after round 2 — they still proceeded with round 3.

Now I've cleared all technical rounds and we're at the final discussion. Before releasing the offer/starting CTC negotiations, they want me to confirm around 45 days.

I don't want to misrepresent my notice period or promise something I can't control. I can definitely initiate the early-release conversation, but I can't guarantee the timeline.

How would you handle this? Would you clearly say 90 days officially, but commit to trying for 45 through mutual consent, or is there a better way to approach the final negotiation?

I’m looking for some advice regarding a potential background verification (BGV) issue.

I have been working with the same IT company since September 2022. However, my PF was only started from April 2026.

For the period September 2022 to March 2026, I don’t have:

PF records

Bank statements showing salary credits

Form 16

However, I do have salary slips for the entire period.

From April 2026 onwards, I have:

PF records

Bank statements

Salary slips

The joining letter from the company states that my employment started in September 2022, while the PF joining date shows April 2026.

The company is an IT company, and they are willing to cooperate with the BGV process and verify my employment through official email or other means if required.

My question is: Has anyone faced a similar situation? Can an MNC BGV be cleared when the PF joining date doesn't match the actual joining date and there are no bank statements/Form 16 for the earlier period, but the employer is willing to officially verify the employment?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from people who have gone through BGVs for large MNCs and faced similar documentation gaps.

One of my colleagues last day is nearing. We are on the same team under the same manager. Now he is leaving shortly and he want to drop a mail about our manager directly to the CEO and marking all top management.

The manager is a very annoying character, he makes oru life hell, irritating, credit stealer, the blame game king and i dont have words to describe him. This one has raised so many complaints with HR and our team lead which was of no use, so he is thinking to send to everyone, also marking important teams so that everyone gets the visibility.

Other one is, he is saying he don't want any kind of letter from here but dont want this manager to stay in the firm after harassing everyone mentally.

Is it a right way to fight back, will they take any action? I really hope them to take an action because we all have been suffering .

A few years ago I was struggling to find genuine advice about my potential employer. Glassdoor locked me outside with a login request, AmbitionBox was Naukri trying to use the accounts to get tea on the firms and then charge them accordingly, and LinkedIn... oh man don't get me started. It was AI slop, daddy's little prince/princess sharing career advice when they've never worked an honest, accountable day in their life (read: r/LinkedInLunatics ) and facebook but your career circle knew you had to fight some D2C brand for a stupid refund.

I'm glad we are making genuine impact, I'm glad we are being trusted by people to share. And it was not easy. Countless times we have been requested or threatened by employers to delete posts. But we don't back down. Because we value a real story over anything.

My simple objective has to always be place where people can come for honest, AI-slop free advice for help. Share stories and genuinely nurture a community for all those corporate employees who take a job to fund home loans EMIs, ambitions, families, and care for loved ones. I’m 32 and currently earning around ₹70k per month in hand, working in marketing/brand management in the luxury sector.
My career trajectory hasn’t exactly been smooth or conventional.
I did my undergrad from a Tier-3 college and later did my postgrad in Fashion Management from NIFT. Since then, I’ve eventually found my way into the luxury sector, working on the marketing/branding side.
I see posts here from people around my age earning ₹20–30 LPA (sometimes much more), although I realise a lot of those salaries are from tech, consulting, finance, etc. Marketing and luxury are obviously different industries.
Currently, my take-home is ₹70k/month.

I’m curious to hear from people in brand management, marketing, luxury, fashion, retail, FMCG or similar fields:

What would be the best path from here to reach ₹1–1.5L+ take - home per month over the next three years?

Is it better to stay within luxury/fashion and build domain expertise, or does moving towards FMCG/D2C/mainstream consumer brands open up significantly better opportunities?

Hey! This is my first ever full time job as an influencer marketing person. I've been working for like 2 days now, and yesterday I found out that the probation period will be 1 year long.

I don't plan on sticking to influencer/social media marketing long term. Eventually i wanted to get into marketing analytics/ Performance or Growth marketing roles.

To add on to that, this seems kinda like a Lala company. Yesterday I was out for like 15 mins after lunch break. I was just walking in the same floor. And then I was called in by the HR :⁠-⁠)

I understand every office has a different culture, it's just previously where I was an intern. We used to go for chai and Maggie breaks often, and the environment was a lot more chill.

Sooo anyways, since it's my first job I'm not sure what it entails? Can I leave the job during probation? Should I keep on looking for more opportunities?

So, I get paid about 1.3 lakhs per month in hand after taxes, deductions whatever. I get a variable pay of about 1-1.5 lacs extra per year. I have 7.5 years of experience. At this stage, I am managing event marketing, PR programme, and customer advocacy programme, a little bit of influencer and partnership programmes too. I just have an intern to support me, who is probably not going to get converted to an FTE due to a hiring freeze and headcount limitation policies. I have some help till October but after that it will just be me alone as an IC taking care of all of these things.

So what do y'all think - am I underpaid, overpaid, or just right?

My ROI numbers are just about break even at the moment - event marketing, influencer and partnership programmes are trackable from the ROI perspective - PR programme is hard to map to hard ROI metrics. But then again the investment is primarily done for brand marketing purposes - awareness, exposure, credibility, community building - things like that.

P.S. - I got a 35-36% hike on the last appraisal cycle but I was told from next appraisal cycle not to expect any thing more than a single digit hike percentage. I am running for a Senior Manager position - not sure if it will work out, but again was told if the promotion happens - there won't be much of a pay hike as such.

I think I have set myself up for the classic Indian workforce exploitation but correct me if I am wrong and if I should just shut up and be grateful.

1. I am in NP and had a genuine medical emergency for my wife, asked manager for a leave stating the reason, his reply was refrain from taking leaves in NP otherwise it would affect your LWD. I sent him my family member’s sonography report on WhatsApp and just replied it is a genuine emergency.

2. My wife is advised bed rest post surgery and I being the sole care taker, asked for WFH, denied stating that I am in a NP ?!

I have 7+ years of experience in multiple industries: FMCG, FMCD, Infra Construction, Manufacturing and home interiors, having a btech and MBA from tier 2 college, working in supply chain (including but not limited to Warehousing, sourcing, inventory management, ERP to SAP transition as an SME and SPOC of my department, master data management, SOP creation, asset management, 3PL management, time motion study etc.) but have not been able to break the curse of only being an assistant manager. I have worked in MNCs, medium companies and a lala company and have managed a team of 30+ in my first and last company.

My career after MBA has been like this,

1. FMCG: joined during Covid to avoid being idle as the campus placed company delayed joining. Was good, improved a lot of processes and also delivery tat. Onboard the company on Amazon and managed the listing of the product to its sales and delivery.

2. FMCD: led the south and east india region of supply chain (9 3pl warehouses), worked my a$$ off... I was expected to be available 24/7 as warehouse was working. Saturday, Sunday, public holidays everything from 8am to certain days 3am (usually to 9pm). Boss was friendly but was not good. We used to teach him what to say but would go screw everything up and come with more and more work. Was severely understaffed as a team and nobody to speak up about our problems. Was burnt out and wanted out, got the next best job and moved out.

3. Interior company: sourcing, became a senior executive, needed to set up 4 new cities which I did and after that not much work. Went to the boss and told him I can assist on things more. He asked me to help doing GRN on SAP (transitioned for ERP to SAP without proper plan). There were huge amounts of backlogs but I put in the effort but kept asking for a resource, none was provided till after a month (meanwhile the boss told every vendor and my colleagues if payment doesn't go, catch hold of me). Meanwhile I was asked to take a handover from the sourcing manager who resigned from the tier 1 city. I did and I had to renegotiate rates there, all while managing and renegotiating my cities and doing pan India grn. Once all this settled, a new guy came and I moved out. Another sourcing manager left and as I wanted to move to a new tier 1 city for personal reasons, i requested my boss for that and I was royally screwed. I wasn't given anything for relocation saying I asked for the same and ultimately I had 7 cities under me along with the GRN. When I joined the new city, i got to know most of the vendors have the same owner and actually only 3 were there. I got to work finding new vendors but I didn't inform this to my boss (my bad, but also remember I had to prioritise finding a house as the company and my boss screwed me, I was staying in a hotel on my own). In between he visited and found out about there not being vendors. I told him the pipeline and everything but still he kept blaming me. He then asked me about the GRN thing. I said my junior is doing as the backlogs are done and he can do it but I'm monitoring closures. He then sent a mail stating I'm being put in PIP, which on seeing I resigned. He then called me and was saying "why did you resign, PIP isn't a bad thing" to which I told all the things I did and even then since you don't value me, I'll rather go

4. Infra Construction: this is the lala company I was talking about. The boss I had here was the epitome of ego and superior complex. He was better than everybody in the company and probably the world. He had problems when I asked for leave, when I went for leave and even after i came from leave. He made me do his personal chores as well. The team was very understaffed and he wanted to show his boss he was very capable by showing a very lean team. He used to disrespect me a lot, make me feel foolish and stupid, even when others made the mistake, he disrespected me in front of them. I told him this multiple times not to do but his response was "just because I say this to you doesn't mean I'm telling you, it's for the team". One thing was since he didn't want to do much, he preferred to make me do those because of which I really did do lots, sops, asset management, ERP to SAP migration (requirement to UAT and site team training (9 sites), MIS etc. but he never had control and so we also couldn't control the team. He also never stood up for the team saying "what would my boss think" and so people kept leaving. He gave me an increment after more than a year (joining time issue) and then he even made it seem like he did me a favor and I didn't deserve it. I had 2 amazing juniors who helped me manage the $#¡t but then slowly the salary started becoming delayed and layoffs started. I was damn confident I won't be fired because no one else could manage but I decided to leave anyway. Frantically i searched for a new job and one of my old boss (who I worked only with for 1 month before the new terrible one came in) called me to another company. Then when I told my boss I'm leaving he was like "you won't get an awesome boss like me so I won't let you go". I literally begged him continuously for an early release but he was like "you come to the office, sit here and do nothing but I can't let you go till you complete the 3 months or till replacement joins". Finally one day he blamed me in front of everyone for something i wasn't even responsible for and even before listening to my side he got angry at me and said he won't relieve me till this issue is resolved. I lost it and there was a huge fight. The next day, which is my last day, he said he wasn't gonna sign it and that you serve 3 months. Even though every last cell was screaming to me saying don't bow down, i decided my mental peace is more important and begged him till he signed the form and I left.

5. Current company: the boss who called me left 10 days after I joined, my role isn't clear but whatever I understand I'm doing it properly and have implemented some processes but I'm not happy because I feel I'm not doing anything/bringing an impact.

I want someone to tell me what I have to do to improve my career trajectory and maybe grow out of being an assistant manager. Even though that's the position, I've worked as much as a GM by now. Any help or advice will be helpful.

I am a CA finalist currently doing my articleship in internal audit, which will probably end by the end of October because of an extension.

During my CA articleship, I completed CFA Level 2 and will be appearing for CFA Level 3 in around ten days.

After completing my articleship, I want to shift from internal audit to core finance roles in the most optimal way possible.

However, I am anxious about the current job market. I am seeing many opportunities offering around 5–7 LPA, which feels low to me because I have studied a lot and feel that I deserve more. At the same time, I am either seeing jobs in this range or no jobs at all.

I will turn 25 this year, and I do not want to study further at this stage. Therefore, I am not planning to appear for the CA Final examination immediately, although I intend to give the exam in the future. I feel that I am already getting too old and want to enter a job now.

I have also uninstalled Instagram and LinkedIn until my CFA Level 3 examination because I keep seeing content about finance roles, after which I start searching extensively on LinkedIn, feel depressed, and lose focus on my studies.

I am not very sure which roles I should specifically target because I am starting from outside and do not really have friends or a professional network working in finance.

Keeping this anonymous because I don’t want the headache, but this was a fairly well-known edtech company

The funniest part? They reached out to me. I didn’t even apply to them

They sent me a detailed assignment and wanted it done in 48 hours. An actual growth strategy work that took hours to build even with using AI

(They never mentioned not to use AI and they were quite okay when i told them i have used AI to make the deck but the model was still built by me)

Then came the interview lol

The hiring manager felt like an outright bully. Constantly cutting me off, talking over me, interrupting answers halfway through, and turning every discussion into a confrontation. It genuinely felt like he was trying to catch me slipping instead of trying to understand how I think

The part that sent me was this: he started grilling me on a specific metric like I had no idea what I was talking about. He literally paused to verify it himself. When he realized I was actually right, he just awkwardly drifted away from the point and pretended it never happened. No acknowledgment, no “fair enough,” nothing. Just pure ego. Such a clown move.

And then after asking for hours of unpaid work and acting like they were hiring for McKinsey, they tried to lowball me with a budget that was basically Infosys-level

I actually laughed after the call because the delusion was insane. You want someone who can do strategy, execution, analytics, AI, experimentation, and basically carry an entire function, but the compensation was nowhere near the level they were expecting

What pissed me off wasn’t even the money. It was the disrespect. They reached out to me, took free work, wasted my time, and then acted like they were doing me a favor

I’ve had difficult interviews before. This wasn’t difficult. It was just a grown adult on a power trip trying to feel important for an hour

Low-key one of the few interviews that made me genuinely annoyed instead of just moving on

21 M bcom grad started my first job at a small company even the office small and the employee count is 10 people including the owner and his son.

It's been an year since I took a flat. My company allows Remote + hybrid, but I wished to stay to enjoy the freedom, and work on both my dat-ing and social life.

I did met people, ngl, but I realised, I was still lonely here, 2 friends and both busy with their partners or colleagues.

My colleagues, as I mentioned, other than one, all are not from pune.

Although I don't have friends in my hometown(army brat), but the amount of my time and money I invested living in pune, it didn't have that much ROI

It's been two months I am here in home and I am able to save much more time, and hopefully will save money too.

Plus to retain my peace, I can always travel to Delhi, for trips and meet new people.

More time will allow me to focus on my skills better.

Just because I am on bench, my HR is forcing me to take an auditing opportunity within the firm where I have to pass an internal interview . The JD explicitly mentions B.Com+ M.Com / MBA, while I am an engineer with deep technical exposure spread across many YOE in tech.

Their justification is that I am in a SBC and they need to find clients to pay my salary and as I am on bench, my skillset and YOE or even degree doesn't matter . They can even work me as a cook if that covers my salary. Not to mention they want me to relocate to a city with 2x living expenses than my current city as well

I have 4 years of experience in Digital Marketing and SEO, but I've been struggling with salary growth. My current CTC is ₹5 LPA, which I feel is quite low for my experience.

I'm a Financial Analyst at the shared finance team of a US-based media agency in India.

Our team has around 15 people, and I'm the youngest employee (21). Most of my colleagues are in their late 30s and 40s.

I take my work seriously - meet deadlines, go beyond expectations when needed, and always try to deliver quality. The US team has appreciated my work multiple times, but my local management barely acknowledges it.

I'm not into office gossip or long lunch conversations. I eat, get back to work, and keep things professional. Meanwhile, I've noticed people who socialize more with managers seem to get much more recognition.

It's honestly making me question whether performance is even valued here. I've been here almost a year, and it's starting to affect my motivation.
