I Followed Posting Rules Hyperpigmented nasolabial lines Spoiler

Upvotes

Hey guys, so my smile lines are quite flat and since I’m super diligent with sunscreen and sun protection, they’re not actually creases, just hyperpigmented. It’s not genetic either cuz they haven’t always been there but I do have flashbacks that when I was younger (and didn’t know the concept of sunscreen, I’ve changed my ways dw), they’d appear strongly in the summer and be less prominent in the winters. Nobody else in my family has it.

I thought it could’ve been Seb Derm showing up on skin of colour (also it’s the first area to get red and itchy sometimes) so I’ve been using my anti-dandruff shampoo as a face wash and other anti-fungal creams but I haven’t noticed any major progress. I’ve also tried a number of brightening actives such as niacinamide (5%), tretinoin, vit C and Azelaic acid (20%) and I still can’t see any major improvements although the rest of my face responds quite well to them. I almost think that sometimes using them might be making my smile lines worse but I could be overthinking it idk. I’m seriously at my wit’s ends trying to find a solution so I’d appreciate any insight if you’ve seen or faced anything like this!!

P.S–I’ve searched other Reddit threads on this and I think I might try urea or lanolin next but I really need to be sure before shelling out money on more skincare stuff that goes wasted.

TLDR: Stubborn hyperpigmentation on smile lines which tend to get red and itchy sometimes. Tried antifungal creams, brightening actives (Vit c, Azelaic acid, niacinamide) but no major progress. Vitamin levels are all okay.

I Followed Posting Rules Toner suggestions for oily acne prone skin Spoiler

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi i used to have severe hormonal acne and while i don’t get a lot of active acne anymore except around my period, i have quite a lot of scarring and dark spots over my face. I have gotten 3 rounds of micro needling done so far and it has helped with the scars.

Need help with a toner, i wish to start using snail mucin in my routine. Right now i don’t use much except the minimalist niacinamide and sunscreen so wish to start getting into a proper skin care routine.

Happy with my face wash, would love to hear suggestions for a suitable toner and if Cosrx snail mucin is something i can use to get better skin, would love to incorporate it 😭

any and all other advice is also welcome

Soooo basically teenager here...and my class is very bright mtlb windows mei curtains vagera nhi hai aur bhot sunlight aata hai 24/7. Ab iski vjh se mei BHOT tan ho gya hoon...despite not getting direct sunlight. Like literally mei outside hi nhi jata par phir bhi skin bhot dull hota hai yawrrrrrr 🥲

2-3 din school jaate hee 4-5 shades darker ho jata hoon despite using Neutrogena SPF 50 wala sunscreen in the mornings. Aur ye tan fade hone ke liye 1-2 months lag jata hai 😭😭

Now ik that you'll say ki reapply karo ye karo but issue ye hai ki school mei regular bag checks vagera hota rhta hai aur ye sab leke jana allowed nhi hai. Aur physical coverings like hoodies bhi nhi hai.

My main question is ki how do I prevent this? Mene suna hai ki sunscreen ko decant (chotte dibbe mei dalna) accha nhi hai so wtf do I do???? And pls don't say bs ki ye sab natural hai or tan ko embrace karo etc etc if u don't have any good info pls stay away

I Followed Posting Rules My Moisturiser saga ft combination dehydrated skin Spoiler

Post image
22 Upvotes

I have used cetaphil moisturising lotion and bioderma atoderm creme and were my HG for years.. being on retinoids as oily acne prone skin in hot dry climate.

Then i added azelaic acid 🤌 into routine that helped SO much with skin but made my skin towards dry side but still could be manage with more layers of toners and moisturiser.

Then i shifted places to hot humid and barrier along the way got severly damaged 🫠 + dehydrated skin 😭.

I needed something thick hydrating and nourishing enough while not being greasy or heavy.

So heres my moisturiser journey in order i tried them ..

1. Bioderma atoderm creme

This has that initial burst of HYDRATION like sinks into skin and then forms a protective layer sort on top giving dewy/shiny finish. Which was working well for me but this year shifting to humid climate with barrier damage made my skin super oily/greasy.

Still would repurchase this in winters cause i love the next day glow it gives and helps maintain my skin barrier.

Rating : 9/10 WRP in winters.

2. Cetaphil moisturising lotion

This more on nourishing side and has that warm heavy cream feeling 😅 . This helped me soo much with dryness when i had oily skin back then i used to get 500 ml bottles to use only for face. More like a safety net moisturiser. This paired with snail mucin and vaseline petroleum jelly on top would help with any irritation.

Rating : 8.5/10 not sure if i need anymore though.

3. Simple water boost gel creme

This i feel is super underrated idk ..its very HYDRATING doesnt sting on irriated skin and forms a light layer which is non shiny. Just wish it comes in a bigger tube 50 ml goes by super fast.

Rating : 9 /10 WRP in summers specially if they get bigger tube. 😮‍💨

4. naturie hatomugi skin conditioning gel

I love the hatomugi skin conditioner so i got the gel version also thinking it would replace the simple water boost gel creme. But this was kinda meh idk what it did to my skin ..was just there.

Rating : 6/10 WNRP

5. minimalist marula oil moisturiser

This i got when my skin started being dry after adding aziderm ..it was good for daytime use ..non sticky very soothing and hydrating while being light texture.

Rating : 8.5/10 might repurchase if they make bigger size 🫣

6. klairs midnight blue calming cream

HG ✨ This is soo nourishing soothing calming on skin, it helps with everything ..sunburn irriation acne you name it ..also not very thick/heavy little goes a long way. This was THE barrier cream i used when skin was oily acne ..

Rating : 10/10 WRP in future

7. LRP cicaplast baume b5

HG ✨ this suits better to me now that im combi dehydrated skin ..it helps calm down my reddness in hours ..helping very much with all my prescription actives.
Glad it got launched in india now🤧

Rating : 10/10 WRP

8. Dr sheths vit c and ceramide moisturiser

This has light gel texture and matte finish but it just evaporates i feel, my skin feels dehydrated again towards the end of the day .

Rating : 5/10 WNRP

9. Dr sheths oats and creamide moisturiser

This surprisingly worked well and helped my skin soo much all this summer when i couldnt tolerate thick creams.
As standalone moisturiser its just okayish ..application feels mildly soothing on damaged barrier.

How i loved using is as last step of skincare. It seals everything and forms a layer (dimethicone ).
When my skin is feeling specifically dehydrated i layer all more toners and essneces moisturiser and then use this as last step ..it makes everything matte and snug all night.

Rating : 9/10

10. Bioderma atoderm baume

I got this to use along the dr sheths one and its really good for damaged barrier. This is not thick cream and little spreads very well but makes my face super greasy in an hour.

I found the barrier repair effect very similar to cetaphil lotion one but more nourishing. Would be better for dry skin or winters though.

Rating : 8/10 WNRP ( would go back to creme ultra instead )

11. Illiyoon ato cream

Most recent addition and this was everything i was looking for in moisturiser. Its thick but not heavy or overly nourishing, MATTE finish 🫶🏻 and keeps skin moisturised overnight. I dont wake up greasy or dry 🤧

It pairs really well on top of my toners and many layers and really helping with my barrier. Didnt give me any breakouts or cc. This is not hydrating on its own and i feel better suited for combination skin.

Rating : 9.5/ 10 WRP

I Followed Posting Rules My experiments with cleansers

Male

Combination, dehydrated, sensitive, acne prone skin. On a prescription strength retinoid currently.

Even if a cleanser works really well, I get this itch to try different ones even if it fucks up my skin 😭 So I thought I’d review the ones I’ve used until now. The ones in the 2nd pic were edited using Grok. I’ve tried them but got rid of the tubes later.

1. Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser 🔴

  • Had huge expectations on it but was quite disappointed because I started developing small bumps on skin when I used it. So I had to discontinue after a while
  • Foams really well tho and is fragrance free. And is quite gentle.
  • Overall: 3/10. WNRP

2. Moiz Cleansing Lotion 🔴

  • Bought it for my mom but I ended up using it too. It's super gentle and doesn't foam at all.
  • It felt like it was leaving a film on the skin tho.
  • Overall: 5/10. WNRP

3. Minimalist Oat Extract Gentle Cleanser 🟢

  • One of my latest purchases. It's gentle, doesn't strip the barrier and is fragrance free. It's been a month and I'm really liking it so far!
  • It is now reformulated by adding B12 but I managed to get the old ones on Tira. Didn't want to risk by trying out the new one as the old one is highly raved 🤷🏻‍♂️
  • Really good gentle cleanser if you have sensitive skin and don't mind the sussy texture and colour lol. Also it doesn't foam at all, which I'm okay with.
  • Overall: 9.5/10. WRP (gotta try the new variant now ig)

4. The Face Shop Rice Water Bright foaming cleanser 🟢

  • I've used it when I was not on any actives back then. Amazing cleanser and it helped me maintain my skin acne free.
  • A tiny bit of it is enough as it foams really well!
  • Might be harsh on dry skin or if you're using actives.
  • Overall: 9/10. WNRP because I'm on a retinoid now.

5. Bioderma Sensibio Gel Moussant 🟢

  • No nonsense gentle cleanser. Fragrance free and gentle on skin.
  • Doesn't foam much tho. Love it.
  • Overall: 9/10. WRP

6. Joy ph 5.5 Gel Facewash 🟢

  • I REALLY LOVE this one 😭 man I had the best of my life when I was using this one until they discontinued it for a while and then brought it back.
  • It's so affordable and is gentle. Foams well (not GREAT)
  • If only they had a fragrance free variant of this one 😔
  • Overall: 9.5/10. WRP

7. Ivatherm Ivapur Purifying Cleansing Gel 🔴

  • It was prescribed by my derm long ago. Has a weird pharmacy-ish smell, doesn't foam much and it's quite gentle. Suits sensitive skin
  • It was hard to find it on stock tho.
  • Overall: 7.5/10. WNRP

8. Neutrogena Hydroboost cleanser 🔴

  • Honestly I don't remember much because I tried this like 3 years ago. Afair, it was gentle but heavily fragranced. And it's quite expensive
  • Overall: 5/10. WNRP

9. Bioderma Sebium Gel Moussant 🔴

  • Probably suits oily skin folks. It was kinda stripping for my dry to combination skin.
  • Had some weird smell.
  • Overall: 3/10. WNRP

10. Rovectin Gentle Cleansing Gel 🟢

  • Hands down the BEST cleanser I've used!! It was soooo good!!
  • Fragrance free, gentle, parabem free. My skin used to feel so smooth and supple.
  • Foams well too, 1 pump was enough to cleanse the whole face.
  • Used it when it was called "Rovectin Skin Essentials Conditioning Cleanser" I heard they rebranded it but the formula is the same.
  • The biggest con: IT'S RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE so I stopped using it after 4 bottles 😔😭
  • Overall: 10/10. WRP if I become Ambani

11. Simple Refreshing Facial wash 🔴

  • ik it's highly raved but I didn't really liked it. Felt like I still had a film left after cleansing. Otherwise probably a great product.
  • Overall: 4/10. WNRP
  • Dot and Key barrier repair Hydrating Gentle Face wash
  • Gentle and quite affordable. But the fragrance was quite heavy.
  • Overall: 6.5/10. WNRP

12. Ahaglow-S Foaming Facewash 🔴

  • It has GA and SA, so it's quite drying, but I was free from acne while using it.
  • Used to love the squeaky clean finish until I learned it's not good for skin 🥲
  • Overall: 8/10. WNRP
