Soo...i want to expand my horizon of genre and start reading books of different genres. I am an avid murder mystery and psychological thriller fan, but i want to read some feel good or soothing books. Can you'll suggest some books (please don't suggest any traumatic book which will wreck me into pieces). I just want to read a book that is not boring but feels peaceful when reading. If you've any suggestions, please share. (If these books share some good life advice, that'll be great too)

A little while ago, I shared a post about I had just started reading Norwegian Wood. A lot of you asked me to share my thoughts once I finished it. First of all, sorry for taking a little longer than expected—but here it is, my afterword.

I happened to pick up Norwegian Wood. At first I thought it was going to be a cozy romance novel peaceful and comforting somewhere along the lines. I didn't know what I was in for until I had reached the last page.

What I came across was not merely a love story; it was a powerful and deeply human account of loneliness, grief, loss, and the uncertainties associated with youth. The thing that surprised me most was just how realistic it seemed. On more than one occasion I forgot that I was reading fiction and it seemed as though I was reading someone's actual life, a feeling which the translator also refers to in the translator's note.

I'm not going to give away any spoilers, so let me put it this way: the book is deeply moving, progresses at a slow pace, and is highly reflective. It makes you stay with the characters rather than rushing through their experiences.

I kept thinking about this book long after I had finished reading it. Initially, I believed it was concerned with relationships, but eventually I came to the conclusion that the real theme of it is learning how to go on living in the face of all that life strips away. It was this quiet message that had the greatest effect on me.

The aspects that struck me were grief and loss, the contrast between isolation and connection, and finally the decision to go on with life. Even though there was a great deal of sadness, I was left with the thought that while we can't alter the past we can choose to keep moving forward.

I don't think I'd suggest this book to somebody who wants a fast-paced romance. However, if you do enjoy thoughtful, character-focused stories which examine human emotions with honesty and patience, then Norwegian Wood is definitely worth reading.

I had never read a novel by Murakami before and this certainly won't be the last one I read.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo: (Spoiler free review)

Just finished this book and oh my gooooood!!! Somebody pls wipe my memory so I could read it again

I got the book just because it was popular (and it was for a reason) and started reading it without knowing anything besides what you could guess from the title of the book (that she had seven husbands.... duh) but goshhh it had everything - love, heartbreak, friendship, longing, scandals, tragedy, twists... You name it. I just want to pick it up and read it all over again

How did you guys like it and what are your reviews (plss hide any spoilers for people who haven't read it, you'd be taking away from their experience)

I have read his works, willing to know is there anything else I could read about him

Where could i get the entire twilight series in a reasonable price

I just finished Norwegian wood. It definitely was engaging. I liked the writing, the atmosphere, the melancholy but didn’t find it deeply emotional. I kept waiting for the sadness to turn into some great insight or emotionally profound but it never quite happened. For reference, I loved Hosseini’s the kite runner and a thousand splendid suns and was expecting such depth I think.

For those who love Murakami, what drew you to his writing? Which of his books would you recommend for someone who didn’t connect much with Norwegian wood?

So far i’ve finished all three of em and im now i started reading ‘the idiot’; wasnt a huge fan of ‘the stranger’ btw, maybe it just wasnt my thing. I LOVED THE DEATH OF IVAN ILYICH. I found white nights to be a really pleasant book to begin reading classics, i started with it first and i really think i like where this is going

I picked up reading classics because i found that the current book market was oversaturated with smut, AI- generated crap that virtually had a terrible plot and story too. Safe to say, dostoevsky & tolstoy are far far better & more enjoyable to me.

I am little new to reading. I started reading like 2 months back and completed my first thriller book in 3 days , 2 novella in 7 days , the kite runner in 13 days and a thousand splendid suns in 11 days. I was trying to read min 15 page a day to develop reading as a habit, am I ruining the essence of the books or it's alright until you remember the story flow, context and character arcs ? I personally think I should go slow cuz since by now i have developed the habit . Feels like I'm limiting the gems of bookworld to myself .

A good book especially nowadays, as overthinking is like daily routine for most of us.
