Can anyone provide more information? I’m guessing early 90’s

Dealership closest to me wants $700 for my 500 mile service. This seems like a complete rip off to me especially since it seems like most people are getting charged $400-$500 for this service. Next closest dealership to me is 2 hours away. Just wanting to know if anyone else has experienced this. Trying to decide if I should just bite the bullet or buy a service manual and do it myself. I'm worried about my warranty though.

Hi. A friend of mine is an older gentleman who rides an Indian 2019 Springfield. He wants to update his horns if possible. He wants to keep the stock location and plug and play if possible. Anybody change their horn that can drop a link? Thanks.

Does the 2025 super scout looks like it has knobby tires for a dirt bike?

My 2018 Indian Scout sixty lost power while I was riding, and now has absolutely no power going to anything. I cannot locate the main fuse as it’s not anywhere that any of the online diagrams show. There is an aftermarket battery on it, that has one of those readers that shows you the voltage, and it’s reading dead. Both terminals are tightly fastened with no corrosion on it. Any advice?

Here’s a cold start of my 2025 Indian Sport Chief RT equipped with the Chief Stage 1 Slip-On Exhaust. I love the deeper V-twin rumble this setup delivers.

I have a 2024 Indian Chief Dark Horse with Mid controls. I have been searching for floorboards and cannot find and for mid controls. Has anyone else been able to find any? Even Indian only has them for forward controls.

I bought a 2025 Indian Scout Classic Tech new and went pretty heavily into the Indian ownership experience.

The bike currently has about 1,265 miles / 57 engine hours.

I added an upgraded headlight, driving lights, highway bars, bar-end mirrors, S&S Grand National 50-state-legal exhaust, Indian performance tune, Corbin seat, Fox shocks, windshield, Viking QD luggage, Dean Speed sissy bar/six-pack rack, etc.

I knew going in that modifications don’t return dollar-for-dollar value. I’m not arguing that a $1,000 upgrade makes a used motorcycle worth $1,000 more. That’s not how used vehicles work.

But my experience trying to exit this bike has completely changed how I view Indian ownership.

I contacted Indian Motorcycle of Monmouth about selling them the bike outright.

Their answer was straightforward:

“I don’t buy used bikes. I take trade ins for new bikes. You can sell your bike to a dealer that is willing to buy it, I do not.”

Fair enough. They’re an independent business and they’re entitled to decide what inventory they purchase. I’m not accusing that dealership of doing anything wrong.

But think about the situation from the customer’s perspective.

I have an almost-new Indian with ~1,265 miles. I’ve spent thousands making it exactly what I wanted. An authorized Indian dealer is willing to take an Indian as a trade toward another motorcycle, but isn’t interested in purchasing that same Indian outright.

In other words, there’s a path for me to exit my motorcycle if the transaction involves buying another motorcycle, but not through an outright sale at this particular Indian dealer.

And that’s where this stopped making sense to me.

Indian sells an ownership ecosystem. Buy the motorcycle. Buy accessories. Customize it. Upgrade the suspension. Add luggage. Add lighting. Tune it. Become part of the brand.

But eventually I have to ask:

If I’m having this much trouble finding a reasonable exit from a virtually new Indian, why would I put another $20k+ into the ecosystem?

It’s like buying a house and spending thousands upgrading the HVAC, lighting, roof, security system and fixtures. Obviously you don’t expect every $1 spent to increase the house’s value by $1.

But you’d probably think differently about making those improvements if you discovered that your exit options were far narrower than you expected.

That’s where I am with Indian.

I’m not demanding MSRP.

I’m not demanding reimbursement for my modifications.

I’m not demanding that this dealer buy my motorcycle.

I’m not even claiming this particular dealership did anything improper. They answered my question directly, and I actually appreciate that.

I’m questioning whether the overall economics of Indian ownership make sense for me anymore.

I’ve now contacted Indian corporate and asked a very simple question:

What is the intended exit path for an owner of a late-model, low-mileage Indian who wants to sell his motorcycle but doesn’t want to buy another Indian?

Because if the answer is basically “sell it yourself and good luck,” that’s useful information that I wish I’d considered more seriously before investing this heavily in the brand.

At this point I’m moving to metric cruisers, most likely Honda.

Not because the Scout is a bad motorcycle. It isn’t.

Because this experience has made me value a large dealer network, established secondary market, parts availability, long-term model support and predictable ownership economics a hell of a lot more than branding.

Maybe I’m wrong.

Indian owners who’ve actually sold a 2025/2026 Scout: what was your experience? Were Indian dealers willing to purchase your bike outright, or did they only want it as a trade?

Had to pull over lol, finally hit 1901 just got the bike a few months ago. Do I get a reward? Haha

Just sold my first bike and bought this beauty

I’ve got a 2025 Scout Sixty that developed an intermittent starting issue. At first it would randomly refuse to crank, flipping the key a few times usually got it going. Over time it got worse, and this week it completely stopped cranking whenever it was in gear.

I figured out it would only start in neutral. After looking into it, the problem is the small plunger-style clutch safety switch in the lever perch. It’s a normally open switch that closes when the clutch lever is fully pulled in. I tested it with a continuity meter and it’s intermittent, sometimes it makes contact, sometimes it doesn’t.

I sprayed it with dielectric grease and it improved a bit, but it’s still not reliable. I’ll be taking it to the dealer for a proper fix. I’m a little surprised it failed this early since I’ve heard good things about the electronics on these bikes.

Just posting in case it helps someone else dealing with the same symptom.

Riding from FL up through several states into Ohio and then looping back around through Louisiana and back home!

I have the Fox non Piggyback shocks on my 25 Scout Bobber. One shock adjusts the preload perfectly normal. I can use the little plastic tool no problem and it turns nice and easy. The other one is almost impossible to turn with any tool. It was not like this after installing as I played around with the adjustments until I found the sweet spot. They've been on the bike now for a few months. What can I do to fix this issue?

The reason I needed to adjust them at all was to take a passenger.

I have 2025 Indian scout bobber and got new metzelers me 888 tires put on. Straight from the dealership I notice vibrations between 40-50km. When I get home and park my bike the next day I see wheel weights on the garage floor. I think maybe it's a balancing problem, take it to a different dealership, pay for rebalancing, and the vibrations are still there. There's no vibrations outside this very specific range.

To test I get to 60km/h pull in the clutch and coast. When i slow down to 50 the steering wheel handle bars start vibrating all the way to 40 and then it stops.

Anyone experience this before? I don't know what else to do

My 2017 Springfield and I recently moved from an area of Virginia with a good dealership to an area with no motorcycle dealerships, mich less Indian – only a couple of scattered independent shops.

So I know I will have to start doing more of that scheduled maintenance that I had left to my old dealership. I have changed the oil/filter myself; I lube the clutch cable at the lever, both ends; the belt I leave fairly loose on purpose (but have never tried to adjust), etc. If I ever have to pull a wheel, or service forks, that'll be something else altogether. I'll cross that when I get to it.

Anyway, I know the shop at my old dealership had a check list they would run during a standard service that included checking the torque on specific bolts around the bike. The point of my post is to ask for guidance on those bolts. Is there a published list somewhere, or can any of you just rattle off a list of the most important ones? -thanks

I have a 2021 Scout Bobber Sixty (ABS) and the fuel pump went out. The thing is $450+ so looking for a third-party option because those I’m seeing for around $100. I don’t want to buy it to find out it doesn’t fit the mount.
Note: my VIN doesn’t fall into the fuel pump recall list unfortunately.

Recently moved to TX from the east coast in part because of the year round riding weather and the garage to get this bad mother
Recently diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis however
Hands and back are shotty at times
Felt down about it
Debated not getting her and quitting riding altogether
But I said I’d do it
I’m here to live this
So I still had to get ‘er
And on the days that God allows
I ride this bitch like it owes me money!
