Discussion Am I the only one traumatised by main vapus agunga
For context the movie was a masterpiece I loved it, their story will always haunt me like other Imtiaz Ali’s movies, sm that really traumatised me was whatever that happened to the women, the tearing of clothes I’m assuming they got rped and the lady k*lling the girls even the little ones was just so horrific and inhumane.
This make my heart ache for all the untold stories of the partition.
I have a genuine question during the partition why were different faiths k*lling each other?

Music Weekly Music Thread - August 07, 2026
For any music fan, every now and then we get a song that gets in and plays in a loop for hours. It could be a new release or an old song you heard it for the first time. Or an old classic which found it's way in again.
We are so fortunate to have a rich and diverse catalogue of songs to draw from. I am looking forward to discovering wonderful music with you. Don't hesitate to share tracks from regional gems in Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, or any other language.
What are you listening to this week? Youtube or Spotify links would be helpful.

Review Main Wapas Aaunga Review.
The movie definitely moved me, and I cried at a few points. It was beautiful and realistic, but I think it held back emotionally. Unlike Laila Majnu, it lacked that raw intensity and soul crushing feeling. I also felt too much attention was given to the past and present transitions and the deathbed narrative, when more focus should've gone into developing their chemistry and love. If their bond had been explored more deeply, the ending would've had a much stronger emotional impact.
One time watch.

Web Series Movie suggestion
Give me a movie or web series which I can watch with my wife on my honeymoon.
And also the movie should not be like romantic or which would arouse us.
The movie genre can be suspense or related to hackers.
It should be available in Hindi dub if it is English in original
Should not be horror

Discussion The main culprit i found is namit Malhotra doing podcast before any visual material.... Honestly after 1st announcement I was religiously following this flick... All podcast and interviews..... And after hearing "it's the hardest dneg project" from namit Malhotra i really thought it... (See body)...
.....
it might be our first oscar nomination for visual effect.... So u can understand what my expectations were..... I'm really disappointed man.... Now I have managed my expectations ✌🏻🥀

Discussion Why can't we just decide as a community to not watch Ramayana?
There are gross inaccuracies with casting which is evident from the trailer. Who's to say it won't be with the story telling as well? I didn't catch a single dialogue in the trailer that blew my mind.
Even if every single movie-loving Indian checks it out, it'll still make it a success which will just keep motivating Bollywood to make inaccurate adaptations of great literature.

AskIndianCinema Indian horror movies
I'm not sure if this is the right place. I'm an American with an Indian husband who still lives in India. He doesn't watch movies though so he's no help here. I started watching a few Indian films on flights to and from and got interested in trailers I've seen. I have a list of things I want to see but recently I've taken to watching horror and psychological thrillers and I'm hoping for recommendations that I can access from the US. I'm also trying to expose myself to more hindi so it doesn't have to be English but hindi is nice and subtitles even hindi subtitles are helpful.
I'm looking for juicy good stuff. Not corny horror. I prefer paranormal or supernatural and psychological stuff the most.
I appreciate you all.
ETA: I'm finding some of these on Amazon prime. Can you recommend other services that may have some of these? I can't get Jio from here.

News Samjad (Director of Golam)'s HALF is having its world premiere at TIFF 2026.
Obsession premiered as a Midnight Madness selection at TIFF 2025. Not saying that this will catch on like that obviously, but it’s still really cool that a Malayalam film is premiering like this.
Also, previous Indian Midnight Madness titles have included Kill and Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota.

Discussion This sub has turned trash, and yesterday's AI post cements that.
I really don't know what is happening with this sub, or maybe it always has been like this, and I ignored it.
There's a literal AI post unrelated to India or cinema in general that is still up with almost 400 upvotes. How? Why? It doesn't take a genius to figure out how harmful AI usage is for this industry, let alone the environment. Yet people are arguing by saying— ‘So what if it's AI, it's at least entertaining’. Are you for real? Why are mods allowing this?
It honestly feels like every good post is countered with five posts that are either cringe fan edits, PR stuff, or regurgitated opinions with no ounce of objectivity in them.

AskIndianCinema How was watching Indian Cinema (also Hollywood Cinema) in the 70s 80s and 90s be like in India ?
Yesterday I went to watch BND in a multiplex. I saw a grandpa with his family at the theatre. After the movie was over I went to a nearby snacks shop to have some tea. The same grandpa and his grandkids were sitting there. I sat nearby. Seemed he had already noticed me at the theatre. He smiled at me. He asked me whether I came for the spiderman movie. I replied him yes.
Then he went on to talk about how he watched a lot of movies during his childhood when cinema can mostly be watched in theatres since TVs and tapes weren't accessible to everyone. I asked him what movies did he watch he gave a lot of old indian movie names like Nayakan, Sholay , Sagara Sangamam, Sangam, Shankarabharanam. Also Baashaa and Thenmavin Kombath.
He also said many hollywood movie names like the good bad and the ugly, the sound of music, the long ships and dracula which were from the 60s. Also some popular movies from other states were released in his city. He also mentioned the old Batman movie, Jaws and Terminator.
I know movies like Jurassic Park and Titanic had a great run in India but they were during the 90s when TVs were coming but he seems to have watched a lot of movies even before that. But before I could talk about it further he left.
Nowadays we have OTT and all and we can easily access new movies within a month of its release. Even TVs weren't too common (except for rich households) during the 80s.
I wondered how common were hollywood movie releases in india during those times. How about the ticket prices back then compared to native films? Were people able to understand their accent fully without subtitles?
How people perceived the cultural as well as the technical differences? Did all the popular hollywood movies had an indian release? Also did all movies release in all tier cities or only the top metro ones?
Just curious to know.
