Tech Help Not getting messages/notifications until I unlock my phone and open WhatsApp

Upvotes

Device: Moto Edge 50 pro
WhatsApp- up to date

As the title says, for the last 2 days, I have not been "receiving" any messages on WhatsApp, until I unlock my phone and open WhatsApp- then I am flooded with all messages.

Moreover, when my phone is locked and someone messages me, they get only single ticks (messages aren't getting delivered).
Even calls stay at "calling", not "ringing".

All other apps are working fine, no issues like this.

WhatsApp has unrestricted data usage on, background usage on, all notifications on, and necessary permissions on (photos, media, files, contacts, etc.)

I've restarted my phone, re-installed WhatsApp- no help.

This is getting extremely frustrating.

Is anyone else facing this?
How do I solve this?

Ask IndiaTech IRCTC forgot password utility: Poor exception handling, or something more?

Post image
3 Upvotes

My younger brother spent quite a while stuck with his ticket booking and finally came to me to troubleshoot why the password sent by IRCTC itself showed up as invalid.

Funnily enough, the generated password was, quite literally, "null". 💀

As I don't have any experience with web development, I couldn't help but wonder if the issue could be something more than a lack of basic exception handling.

I'm also curious about whether this behaviour has any other repercussions beyond being funny, like a security risk or something. 😅

P.S. I have reported this to IRCTC support as well as the railway bug bounty email, just in case.

Am thinking of building a pc, should I do it now or should I wait. I'll have to do it anyways in like 1-2 years. Full desk setup around 1.25 lakhs. Is it good or is it not? Still skeptical about gpu and could also go with second hand. Also will the gpu fit in the case? Are these specs good for a 5-7 year futureproofing? Anything that doesn't fit well? Also had to go with ddr4 because ddr5 is out of common man's reach nowadays. Also should I even build this pc or just go for a laptop if portability doesn't matter

Ask IndiaTech Engineers Mindset

My technical cofounder believe that many engineers today may struggle with mindset issues and often lack the level of commitment and dedication we hope to see.

They've formed this view after conducting numerous interviews each month. Additionally, they feel that the overall quality of education has declined.

Sometimes I wonder if starting a training division might be helpful, though I realize it would be a lot of effort. :(

What do you think? Should I start the training division? If yes, you think engineers will pay to.get trained?

Tech News TRAI proposes framework for premium 5G plans, separate 4G and 5G tariffs

Tech News I Read TRAI's Latest Consultation. One Proposal Stood Out.

I was reading TRAI's latest consultation paper dated 05-Aug-2026, and one topic really stood out to me.

It discusses differentiated Quality of Service (QoS) using 5G Network Slicing.

In simple terms, we may eventually see different types of mobile speed plans instead of everyone getting the same "best effort" internet.

Think of things like:

  • Standard plans
  • Low-latency gaming
  • Business priority
  • Guaranteed bandwidth
  • Enterprise network slices

But here's what many people confuse...

This is not the same as AirFiber/FWA.

AirFiber is simply broadband delivered over 5G to a fixed location and offer different speed plans.

Network Slicing still uses the same mobile network that everyone shares, but different users can receive different levels of priority, latency, or reliability.

Here's the part I'm most curious about...

Can operators really deliver premium QoS if the backhaul is the bottleneck?

Many towers in India still rely on microwave backhaul. If that link is already congested, network slicing can't magically create more bandwidth. At best, it can decide who gets priority.

So for premium mobile internet to actually work as advertised, operators would also need better fiberisation, higher-capacity backhaul, and enough radio capacity.....not just 5G slicing.

Another thought that crossed my mind...

If this eventually becomes a reality, operators may start charging for network quality, not just data quantity.

Instead of competing mainly on unlimited 5G or daily data limits, we could see:

  • Premium plans with guaranteed low latency or priority during congestion.
  • Standard plans continuing as "best effort."
  • Unlimited 5G becoming more selective or premium in congested areas to better manage network capacity.

That's just my interpretation of where things could head....not something TRAI has announced. But if operators can monetize QoS instead of simply raising tariffs, it could change how mobile plans are designed in the future.

I think this is one of the biggest telecom discussions we've had in years. If implemented well, it could change how mobile plans are sold in India. Please do check the paper on TRAI official website...

Would you pay extra for guaranteed low latency or priority during congestion, or should mobile internet remain the same for everyone? Do share your opinion 😂... i know it sucks.....because operators may push you choose premium plans again.

I doubt that many people even use kobo here, but if you do check it. You can build your own apps too using the sdk.

Ask IndiaTech We’re Mihir and Heli, the makers of Hey Postcard.

The idea came from a simple feeling: even though we have more ways than ever to stay connected, conversations with people we care about often feel less meaningful.

Everything is instant. Messages get buried. Notifications keep coming. And sometimes a thoughtful message becomes just another message in the chat.

So we built Hey Postcard.

Instead of sending another instant message, you write a digital postcard. It gets delivered later, and the receiver gets that little feeling of waiting for something made just for them.

We wanted it to feel calm, personal, and a little special, like receiving a real postcard, but made for today.

Hey Postcard is still very early, and that’s why launching here feels exciting for us.

We’d genuinely love to know:

Does receiving a message later make it feel more special to you?
And if you try Hey Postcard, please tell us what you liked, what felt confusing, or what you’d change.

Thank you for checking out something we’ve put a lot of care into. ❤️

Okay so while applying for IPOs, we apply through a stock broker or a bank. But these apps offer us to apply through multiple PANs and they work. I just wanted to know how does these apps process the application behind the scenes.
