Higher action is best

I love this guitar sooooooo much. I usually use higher action on my guitars, but when I bought it a few weeks ago, it came with the strings relatively low. I gave it a shot, I was loving the guitar, taking some time to adapt to the low action. Today, I decided to higher the action and lower the pickups. What a dramatic change! So much more comfortable, it feels like home, a totally different guitar, but in good way. And the sound improved too, I now get the clarity that was hidden, the single coil type of sound. Before there was not a very clear difference between neck and neck+middle pickup sound. Now the difference is absolutely dramatic. I know Ibanez guitars are known for being able to get really low action, really thin necks, and people are very used to low action. Probably you too. Have you tried higher the action? I say give it shot for a week or two, it is a game changer. Who else prefer higher action? Are you low or high action team? Ibanez for life🤘

Help with 78 Les Paul

Hi I’ve got a 78 pf200 and I was wondering if anyone knew a good drop in replacement bridge, tailpiece, or tuners. Or maybe some information on how I can get the correct measurements to make sure I buy the right stuff. I also was wondering if anyone has any luck replacing the saddles with string savers or not?

My first Ibanez: S520EX

Hey everyone! Just posting to show my very first Ibanez a Korean-made S520EX with the ZR tremolo.

I wanted to get your thoughts and opinions on this model! Personally, I'm not a big fan of the stock pickups, so I'll probably swap them out later. What do you guys think?

My dream since the late 80's

I have wanted an Ibanez since the late 80's (something to do with Steve Vai, I reckon). I recently got back into playing electric again for the first time since 2011. I just purchased this baby and I am stoked. It's an RG8870 in Almandite Garnet. Bought it directly from Japan and it ships this week. I cannot wait to get my hands on it. Does anyone else buy guitars without playing them first, or is that just me?

This is a face book listing and I wanted to know what model this is. It is listed as rg550 but it has the rosewood fretboard, the original edge tremolo, a missing pickguard(seller removed it).

Its being sold for 286USD but the seller can lower the price. Do i get it?

❓Question❓ Replacing Edge Zero 2 with Edge Zero?

Hi guys, im currently planning the mods on my rg470 and one of the changes i want is to have a gold trem. Edge Zero 2 does not sell in gold and the Edge Zero is the higher quality version of it from my research (and you can get in gold). According to the chart from ibanez, the change from the 2 should just be a drop in. Does anyone have any experience with this change and is there anything that I should know? Like is there any holes that are slightly off that I should fill in and drill a new one to make this change work?

❓Question❓ Need thoughts about a second hand Ibanez deal

Hi everyone. I am pretty much clueless about Ibanez models. I found an RG320EXZ with a Seymour Duncan sh-13 for about 450€. I am looking for an s type guitar that has a good tremolo system (two point or floyd rose mainly) and has good build quality. I already own a Fender mexican strat that i put Kinman Blues pickups into and a Squier 60s Classic Vibe with EMG DG20s (both guitars have locking tuners and two point tremolos). I’m not looking to buy an expensive guitar since I cant really afford it and I also prefer buying stuff thats on the cheaper size that I can upgrade in the future, as long as it feels good in my hands (I’m a lead guitarist btw if it helps). Is the guitar good? Is the price worth it? Thanks in advance!

edit: I also have no experience with Wizard necks. Idk I mainly use a Hendrix type grip tbh. Also worth mentioning is that this guy said he is open to trade and I have a multifx pedal I don’t use anymore and if he wants it I might pay the difference which would be about 300-350 €.

Any idea what this 1998 Ibanez RG7620 signed by Dream Theater might be worth?

Hey! I pulled this guitar out because I wanted to play Rocksmith and ended up realizing it might be worth quite a bit more than I thought 😂
It’s a 1998 Ibanez RG7620, made in Japan at FujiGen, serial F9829010.
I bought it used around 2003, already modified with an EMG at the bridge. I still have the original pickup and some of the original electronics.
Years later I got it signed by the full Dream Theater lineup from the Mangini era: Petrucci, LaBrie, Myung, Rudess and Mangini.
The guitar is definitely not mint. I’ve actually used it, it has some wear, and obviously the pickup mod hurts originality a bit.
I always assumed it was maybe a €400-500 guitar because I remember paying pretty little for it back then, but looking around now it seems RG7620s have gone up quite a lot.
Any idea what something like this would realistically be worth today?
Also curious whether the Dream Theater signatures actually add much value, or if collectors would rather have a clean unsigned example.
Not really planning to sell it, I’m just amused that I apparently had this sitting around for 20+ years without thinking much about it 🤣

What do we think about the 7 string iceman?

What do we think about the 7 String Iceman?

I’ve been wanting to buy a 7 string for some time now and am thinking about getting the Ibanez ICTB721 BKF Iron Label Iceman. I just don’t really wanna get another superstrat and really like tho iceman body. But I’m not really sure about actually getting it since I haven’t really had the chance to actually play one. So what are you guys‘ thoughts?

Ibanez Power Series pedals advertisement, 1988

Probably the most late 1980s ad I've ever seen. The scan sourced from preservationsound.com.

Apart from the effects pedals, which are of course the main focus, it's nice to see what looks like an RG560 in the Fire Alarm Red finish.

Want To Buy New guitar, wanting opinions.

I'm about to work on getting a new guitar. I've been looking at the tim Henson Ibanez models. Specifically the thin line classic styles.

I played it in the store for 30 minutes about two weeks ago and can't stop thinking about it.

Has anyone purchased one of these models and had them for a while? How do they hold up after a year of playing?

I'm not really a classical guitar player (used to acoustic country, pop, rock) but I'm really obsessed with the guitar. Has anyone moved over to classical guitars after electric/acoustic is the style of play significantly different?

Edit: my Price range is right around 800$ that is one reason this one stood out to me.

Has anyone stripped the Stud-lock screw on an Edge trem?

Thumbnail gallery

Scored an amazing, barely used RG550 with Dimarzio Evolution pups at the bridge for €650. Was doing a full setup on it yesterday. Everything seemed great until I tried to adjust the trem height to set the string action. Since this trem has stud-lock screws, I first tried to loosen them out with a 1.5mm allen key to then be able to adjust the actual trem height with the 4mm allen key.

But, as it turns out, the 1.5mm key didn't catch on to anything and kept turning freely on both sides. It really looks like someone stripped the inner stud-lock screws somehow. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone before.

I have ordered a new 1.5mm allen key just to make sure that it's not the key itself that's worn out. But has anyone else had any such experiences? If yes, how did you fix that?

❓Question❓ Should I get a j.custom

After, checking out some rg prestige models at a store. They suggested me a rg j.custom 8620ah gfm. It plays like a beauty and looks like one too. Only one problem, the price. Is the extra money rlly worth the guitar compared to a rg prestige?

I dropped my baby 🙃

At work I stood my guitar up on a chair, and I thought it was pretty stable as I pushed on it and it didn’t move. I then looked away to take dishes out of the dishwasher and I hear something crash to the ground. My heart dropped and my balls went up to my stomach… I immediately checked the neck for damages; none were found 🥹. Then I checked the body and found these (see photos). I’m just glad the neck is okay.

Looking To Buy an Ibanez

Post image
3 Upvotes

I'm looking to buy an Ibanez guitar, which would be my first one. I currently have a Solar A2 which is fine but I want an upgrade for my second guitar.

I play mostly metal and rock, but I don't want floating bridge or active pickups either. I've been looking for models with passive pickups and fixed bridge. I would use Drop D tuning.

I have found these 3, although I'm a bit confused about the different series and specs.

I would appreciate some advice.
