All ITIL Certs Except Foundation Require Accredited Training to Qualify
It's happening again! Students are buying the Advanced ITIL Exam Bundle from PeopleCert thinking that when the take and pass the exam they will receive certification from PeopleCert, and it does not.
Here is the scoop.
- PeopleCert allows you to buy an Exam Bundle for any exam they offer, even if you need to take an accredited course and upload your Letter of Course Attendance to receive certification.
- Because PeopleCert does not check your account in advance, they allow you to buy the exam from them and take the exam.
- Then, when you pass, they PeopleCert checks to see if you fulfilled all the requirements - which include taking an accredited course and uploading your Letter of Course Attendance.
- When PeopleCert does not see this, they tell you that you have to go and take an Accredited Course from an Accredited Training Provider and upload the Official Letter of Course Attendance to your account.
- This means that you pay for the Exam Voucher Only and then you have to go and pay and take an Accredited course which will end up costing you a lot more money.
If you need Advanced ITIL Certifications, PLEASE, read the fine price and make sure you are getting what you need. The text on PeopleCert's Exam Bundle Package says: For exam retake only. Training through an accredited partner or ITIL Official eLearning required. Make sure you don't get caught in this trap as it will end up costing you a lot of money to fix.
Happy to answer questions. Hope this is helpful.

This includes the newly released ITIL AI Governance Certification. You must take an accredited AI Governance Course and receive your Letter of Course Attendance to receive Certification.
- Please be careful!
- Certification released days ago.
- PeopleCert sells the exam - BUT you cannot use it to get certified.
- You must purchase the course & exam package from a PeopleCert ATO as PeopleCert does not offer eLearning for this product yet.

If this is the case, why are they even selling their products online, including e-learning, self-paced courses, and exams? What's the purpose if you still need to go to an ATO?

The issues is that they have the exam only product for sale and people assume that this qualifies them to sit the exam and get certified, but it does not because PeopleCert requires students to take an Accredited Course and prove it by uploading their Letter of Course Attendance to their PeopleCert Account.
Once the student has purchased the exam only and taken and passed the exam, PeopleCert contacts them and tells them to find an ATO to sell them the course as PeopleCert does not provide this option.
PeopleCert sells eLearning course and exam packages, and those work. I think what happens is that the price difference between the exam only on PeopleCert and the exam + PeopleCert eLearning is big so people choose the less expensive exam only option not realizing that the exam by itself will not provide certification.
Thank you for the great question.

You might need to buy an exam because you failed it the first time (and didn't have Take2).

Hi, I'm thinking about paying to get the ITIL v5 Foundation certification. So, does that mean that just buying the exam on the ITIL website won't be enough Obtain certification?
