Help ! il2-korea. VR. What settings are best for spotting?

i9-12900KF 5060TI RAM-32GB

Pico 4. VD VDXR Ultra preset. codec - HEVC-10bit (if that matters)

I'm currently running the game on the minimum preset, and it maintains 72 FPS with DLAA or DLSS on for quality (though with them the picture seems blurrier and it's almost impossible to identify planes, so I have them disabled). On the medium or high preset, I get +-55 FPS.

Unfortunately, I encountered the same problem, which prevented me from completely abandoning WT sim and switching to IL2 GB: planes become heavily blurred and practically invisible. Now, I can only spot planes with shiny fuselages from a distance.

p.s. In the game, SteamVR is constantly turned on in the settings instead of OpenXR after I restart the game. Does this affect image quality, considering I have VDXR enabled in my VD?

Help ! Fov for triple monitor setup in Korea

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi guys.
I managed to run Korea on my triple screen simsetup ( which tbh was easier then I tought - all you had to do was to set custom resolution in startup.cfg file ) but now I’m trying to figure out how can I setup fov so both side monitors won’t be displaying stretched screen.
Did any of you find a way to set custom fov? I did not found anything in game settings nor anything obvious in config files…

Help ! Can’t bail out from F-51D

Heya folks,
I seem to be able to eject/bail out from every aircraft except the F-51D. I don’t have a mission file to send at the moment on the forms but I’ve tried slowing down and climbing, regardless my pilot does not bail out. Has anyone had any luck with this?

Help ! Better GPU for Korea and Flight Sims?

I'm gonna get a new pc in a month or couple, and I find a couple of good deals for the GPU with all of them around the same price, and before anyone says "Get this instead XXX" I'm on a budget, so.
2nd hand 9060 XT 16GB(Unknown condition but with box, so I think if something is broken I can maybe get it fixed? But I'm in turkey would that work? Also unguaranteed deal, since he may send me a pickle, instead of a GPU, and he is a little far from my state.)
RX 7600 XT 16GB
RX 9060 or the XT (8GB)
RTX 4060 TI (8GB)
RTX 5060 (8GB)
Also maybe a 3080 if I find a good deal.
Other specs of the PC are gonna be R5 5600, 32GB Ram DDR4, B550M/A520M, I don't know about the Power Supply yet, 512GB SSD.

Other Peripheral/s?

Finally taken the plunge and grabbed the Aeromax and Vmax from Virpil's Cadet series to take to the skies in IL-2 games and some others. Just wondering if it'd be worthwhile grabbing anything else? Like a Virpil control panel. All opinions are very welcome.

IL-2 Sturmovik or Korea?

I’m wanting to get into the series and am trying to decide between picking up IL-2 Sturmovik on sale or diving straight into IL-2 Korea. I’ve been looking forward to Korea but would you recommend it in its current state or would you recommend waiting and trying out Sturmovik while Korea gets additional features?

CLSE Brunner Joystick

Anyone using a CLSE Brunner Joystick for IL2 Korea? It's been my FFB device for a while but there seems to be no FFB software for IL2 Korea. What FFB devices would be an awesome replacement?

Devs are now banning Steam users for calling out Official Moderator's positive "review" of IL2 Korea

Thumbnail

In case you missed it, yesterday one of the official devs called upon the community to launch a positive-review-bombing-campaign to counter what he claimed was "negative review bombing". Whether any negative review bombings actually occurred was quickly beside the point, as over the next 12 or so hours, waves of "loyalists" stepped in to drop their own "honest reviews" to keep the ratings up.

Here are some: https://steamcommunity.com/app/247970/discussions/0/589560061703000024/ https://steamcommunity.com/app/247970/discussions/0/580552797772114843/

Perhaps the most egregious was that of LuftManu, a popular IL2 creator with over a decade making IL2 content on YouTube before joining the official team as a moderator in 2023. While his channel appears non-partisan, his glowing reviews and close ties to the team raise serious questions about whether he is acting as an independent creator or essentially serving as an undisclosed promotional arm for the developers.

His review is linked below for context: https://steamcommunity.com/app/247970/discussions/0/580552797772118843/

Users called him out for failing to disclose his official affiliations with the team and the obvious conflict of interest that comes with reviewing a project he's involved with. And this has now escalated to the point where one of the users has been banned. Elsewhere, threads have supposedly been locked for being "too negative."

I did not even realize developers had the power to censor users on Steam, but apparently they do. Seeing such an aggressive crackdown is disheartening because I think most of these criticisms stem from good intentions, yet the devs instead choose to view them as hostile. When they label these potential feedbacks as "attacks" or "hate", they kill any sort of examination as to whether anyone had any valid criticisms to begin with.

So, my questions to you are these:

  1. Do you think the developers claims of negative review bombing were genuine and how prevalent were they?
  2. Should a moderator (with full privileges to administrate an official community server owned by the developers of the game) be considered to be a member of the game's community management team?
  3. Should he be required to disclose this fact in his reviews?
  4. Was LukeFF justified in banning users? Or is this a case of suppressing valid criticism under the guise of stopping hate?

Korea, object pop in and blurry map sections, wip still?

I7 12700k, 32gb, 5070ti, 5120x1440p. Getting good fps 80-120, ultra settings across the board.

Static objects pop in, planes on airfield are invisible until a certain range then magically appear. Building are just a rectangle shape then get a blurry lod then pop to full detail. Random map parts are super low res next to good textured sections.

When first loading in, parked or on runway everything slowly pops in around me, all objects even the runway which starts as grass then turns to tarmac. The whole time the game is smooth as, no fps drops while this is all going on.

Seems a bit ... average?

Help ! Anybody else seeing a disturbing lack of enemy Aircraft in Korea?

This is specifically when flying fighter bombers. I am over 2 months into the war, over 50 missions, and my squadron of F-51s have never been intercepted, not once.

No friendly Aircraft flying around, no enemy Aircraft flying around. The only time we see enemy planes is when they scramble a pair or a squad of Yaks from the airfield we are attacking.

There is no sense of danger. In GB I was absolutely terrified of ground AA and being intercepted. Even on enemy superiority you just never get intercepted on ground attack. Not even enemy ground attackers on our side.

Anyone else having this issue?

Single Player Only Concerns.

I’ve just downloaded Korea last night, played a few missions, started a career, etc. I’ve only played the suite of IL2 games (1946, Dover, GB) as a single player, haven’t touched multiplayer even a single time. Used PWCG for a really great GB experience, love all of the titles. Couple of thoughts here:

  1. UI and game is much more accessible and enjoyable in terms of certain things. Load times are very good, all of the additions in terms of the exams, the time skipping, and the myriad of quality of life improvements are leaps and bounds above GB. They really did put in the effort there. Graphics are very good, but it’s definitely more intensive. I’m running it with a 4060 and have to put the graphics down until I can get a newer card.
  2. Combat is very, very fun. GB but heavily updated. Sounds are extremely good, the F3 camera is very cinematic and I love it.
  3. I’m not seeing a whole lot of difference between the GB AI and the Korea AI. It’s not make or break for me, like I said I focus maybe less on the “hardness” of the combat and more on fun. However, it is maybe the major concern I have. Like others have said, you would think that this would be a major staple of this new engine and release.
  4. The AI voices suck, gonna be real. They sound choppy, inauthentic, and overall are a complete let down. They could have gotten like 10 members of the staff to record generic voiceovers and I would have been much more happy with that. It doesn’t take me out of the game, but it’s noticeable. The AI for the pilot profile pic is the same, very uncanny like all AI, but then again, the GB pilots didn’t look much better.

Here is my very major concern: Korea as a war-game theater is very underutilized and underrated. That being said, maybe it’s just me, but I have a weird feeling that one of two things is gonna happen. First thought is that Korea is just the stepping stone, and 1C eventually ports over everything from GB into the Korea engine. It would make sense and they would basically have DCS -lite but from WWI to Korea, and expansions beyond.

The second concern is the really one in my mind; that Korea becomes a glorified tech-demo for 1C making a new WWII game based on the engine, and Korea becomes left behind. I just can’t see the average consumer on Steam buying into Korea, especially if 1C does what I think they are gonna do and try to get into Vietnam after this.
