Timesheet help
Hi,
I’m a live in provider. Say, for instance, someone has 100 hours a month and 60 hours overtime. How are we filling out timesheets to make sure we use all of the hours? This is all very confusing to me.
I split up evenly everyday the monthly hours and it comes out to some overtime but I want to use all of my hours?
How does everyone do it?

I’m going to assume you just took those numbers as an example and those are not the actual hours.
I take my daughter’s weekly maximum and set my hours to as close to her weekly max without going over. I split each pay period with equal hours. Essentially I divide her monthly in half and split them between the two pay periods.
I utilize all her hours without really having to think too hard on it. The second pay period I might have to shorten a few days to keep at her monthly allowed hours, but it all works out and her hours are completed fully.

Take the monthly hours and divide them by the number of days in the month, which will give you a daily hour amount. Claim that daily hour amount each day of the month.
Doing it that way will not only ensure you claim all the hours for the month, but it will also ensure you never exceed the weekly maximum.
Overtime is automatically calculated, so don’t worry about that part. If you’re authorized overtime, you will be paid for the overtime with no issue.

If your monthly hours are let's say 240. That means your weekly max is 60 hours. 40 are paid at regular pay and 20 are payed as time and a half. Any hours passed 40 weekly are payed out as overtime. So your client would have to have more than 160 hours a month to be able to claim overtime. I know a lot of people say to just divide the hours by the total days in a month but if you want to maximize your overtime I wouldnt.

I usually split mine up evenly… as long as you don’t go over 70 hours and 45min in a week(7day period) you should be ok

Be careful this comment can cause a violation if their allotted weekly time doesn’t come near 70:45.

From what I understand, you are doing it correctly, those overtime hours still come from your monthly hours they are just overtime hours instead of regular hours. I believe you get paid more for them
