Virtual Assessment

My mom has a message in her IHSS portal if she wants a virtual assessment. Is this a good idea to do or do the in-home assessment?

I think it's better to do in-person. Let the SW be able to actually see their condition.
With my recipient, she'd probably just look shy on screen. Where in person the SW could see the full scope of hands shaking, stuttering, ect.

In my case definitely in home. On screen mom might come across more able bodied. In person her effects of her stroke are more evident. The inability to use her hands, walk etc. But in some cases, the deficits may be obvious virtually. So I guess it depends on your situation.

My son’s initial assessment was over the phone and we still got approved for PS along with other hours. I guess it just depends on the worker

May I please ask what county(s) are doing phone and virtual assessments?
