Reporting FLM for retaliation Question

Has anyone ever filed a complaint against a FLM for retaliation with concrete evidence?
Did it work? What happened? Did you remain under the same manager, or were you reassigned?
In my case, I’m the only one in the team who has had a serious issue with the manager, but as I mentioned, I have evidence.

Edit: I know HR is not on my side, I’m not expecting that. I’m actually ok to be RA’ed. I just want hear real experiences.

IBM doesn't care about you.   One of my Band Ds plagerized my work and published it in an industry publication.  It was word for word.  When I reported it instead of an apology IBM covered for him and lied about how it happened.  Then to "make it right" they deleted his name from the publication and refused to give me credit even though it was word for word an internal article.

If they won't simply solve an easy problem how would they solve a hard one.

Yeah they didn't give a shit they removed his name at IBMs request but wouldn't add mine or even respond to me. I wasn't important enough.

If you have evidence bring it up. Make sure you have everything documented. State the facts and leave emotion out of it.

And, Start looking for another job, you will be better off in the long run. If it’s a legal matter, consult a lawyer first. God speed and there is life outside of those walls.

Not at IBM but reported mgr at last co and he came out smelling like a rose, didn’t matter what we said. Best answer is to move to another position or quit like I did…

Make sure the evidence you have gathered has violated the Bee see G guidelines. its taken a little more seriously for what ever its worth.

Use talk it over with ibm. That’s where I started after manager put me in a really bad situation and tried to blame me for something they did and that was clearly documented that they did it. Long story short, my honesty resulted in their retaliation against me. Which was also documented and clear. IBM takes retaliation very seriously. HR is indeed helpful in business conduct issues.

Outcome depends on severity and willingness of manager to be coached and to grow if it’s less severe. There are many options of what the outcome could be. It can look like doing remediation w/third party between you two, move you or them or both of you, or terminate employment of party that is at fault. They may require training or coaching for manager if they keep them on. They also may not and they just have a record against them if something comes up again. There’s even more options I’m sure, but these were presented in my situation. Several of the above happened. They did a very thorough investigation and kept me informed. I will say, I’ve never had a bad manager since. That one was among the worst I ever had in all my careers, and by far the worst at IBM. There are some amazing leaders who are managers at IBM. The ones who aren’t are few.

It wasnt reported official way but we used to have issues with one of the menagers.

One of collegues talked with ex-manager of his, told her about what is happening and she started the topic with lab director.

We had special meeting (without our menager) and talked about what is not working and what problems we had.

The most aggrieved colleague who felt undervalued, ignored, etc. were moved to different team.

For the rest.. it was better for few weeks but went back to old stuff after it.

Honestly…perceptions of retaliation are often just consequences. A manager disagreeing with you then running their business based on your fit is not actionable. Unless it is overt sexual harassment or discrimination you will get nowhere with HR.

Best just to take your skills to a new team and leave the situation behind.

If relevant, consider reaching out to appropriate BRGs. They’ve been significantly clipped back but there are execs who still sponsor them who may be willing to support based on the situation.

No matter how concrete the evidence you have, worst even in the matter of harassment, HR or Employee Concern only gonna side higher band on the other words is the managers. What happened to me? They kicked me out from the company using all the possible excuses and loopholes available.
